  1. I'm happy to see KU picked second in the North. I'd rather be there than picked to win it. Nebraska now carries the burden of the team to beat in the North. I'm good with that. Now Missouri at 3? I can't see that happening. Not after losing the players they did. I see them at 4th or even 5th in the North. Their defense was pathetic last year......and they lost MOST of their defense....now enter in the guys that were backing them up!! Missouri could end up being the train wreck of the North.
  2. Even I have to say this guy is a little off his rocker.... http://www.kansascity.com/sports/story/1340735.html
  3. Not sure how this post got away from the title-but here goes nothing. Sounds like Briscoe will be eligible to play this year. The latest reports from Lawrence is that it's been taken care of. I envision Mangino, dressed in an all black suit, and sunglasses (CSI/Mofia style) telling this to Lew Perkins. OK, time to go get a cold washcloth because my 8 month old daughter has nearly poked my eye out. I think she is a Husker fan and doesn't appreciate my Jayhawk Bias.
  4. My god. My head is killing me after reading all these quotes. I have to agree with Knapplc (pains me to say that) but this is getting ridiculous. However, I think the 2005 defense was KU's best (and it's not really even close). If they would of had ANY KIND OF OFFENSE that year, KU would have finished 2nd in the North. The 2005 Kansas offense was one of the worst Offenses I've seen, constantly putting their 2005 defense in bad positions. Even when Texas blew KU out that year, KU forced Texas to punt their first two attempts, but the offense was garbage and couldn't get a first down on their first two possessions. It was like this the entire year. KU beat Nebraska in Lawrence THAT YEAR year (there, I fixed it) because of the defense. That offense still pisses me off. Thank god we have Warriner now. KU beat Nebraska in Lawrence THAT YEAR year (there, I fixed it)

  6. Oh stop Hukser. Stop reading between the lines. #22 is about right for Nebraska. But as I said, none of this really matters and none of the mags are ever right.
  7. Who really cares about these position rankings? None of the preseason mags are all that accurate. Phil Steele brags about being the best, but even his predictions are far from right. Having NU ranked #22 is actually pretty accurate. After reading Athlon's mag this year and how they ranked OU's receivers higher than KU's (which is crap), I've decided to stop caring about position rankings. It's just stupid. This season can't get here soon enough!! Uggh.
  8. Kansas' defense split with Bill Young. They won't be beating any good teams w/o a defense. So far...and I hate to say this....that's true.
  9. Here's the link to the Hofbrauhaus German Pub. http://www.hofbrauhauslasvegas.com/?gclid=...CFQgNDQodmmk0DQ Stay thirsty my friend!
  10. Wow. This thread took a wrong turn quickly! I say have the bachelor party in Vegas. We had my dad's 50th birthday out there and it was a blast. You need to visit the Habnver (probably mispelled that) House and have a big beer. It's a German pub that is one of the biggest tourist attractions in Vegas. They have a german band that takes requests, and the waitress's look very nice! I recommend a trip there for dinner and beers.
  11. LOL-that's right! I forgot about that. That's not likely to ever happen again...but that's funny. That was against the Canes! LOL. What a mess that was. The BCS should of just folded the tents after that season. What a screwed up system.
  12. Exactly. Great point buffs. NU used to be able to pick and choose from just about anywhere in the country-the rise of USC definetely doesn't help Nebraska....neither does Texas and Oklahoma and the way they continue to bring in top 10 classes. As long as this continues, I really don't see anyone from the North coming out undefeated with a shot at the NC.
  13. IMO, the writer needs to spend less time worrying about how NU stacks up against Texas and OU and focus more on how they stack up in the North. If you can't win the North, then who cares how you stack up with them.
  14. I doubt any of this is true. If it is, I'm sure Mangino will do everything in his power to figure out a way to get Briscoe on the field. I wouldn't jump to conclusions yet.
  15. His picks don't seem to outrageous.
  16. Wow. I knew Texas had bank, but good grief! That's just ridiculous. Something needs to be changed. I do know that KU would be close to the bottom with CU and KSU if it wasn't for Lew "Money Bags" Perkins and his wheeling and dealing. The guy is the best....and the worst thing that could of happened to KU. Worst because a lot (including me) of long time basketball season ticket holders were forced to give up their seats due to the new "point system Lew put in. My family would of had to come up with $35,000 just to keep our tickets for another year. Long story short, we chose to ditch the tickets and buy a flat screen tv instead.
  17. Yes I do because Lee has more physical ability. What seperates Ganz from Lee right now is that Ganz is much better developed in the non-physical aspects of the game. The part you quoted from me said that "assuming that both players were similar in their rate of non-physical development...." That includes developing as a leader, learning the offense, etc. Ganz had 5 years in the program and had to compete the entire time so naturally he was ahead of Lee last year in both departments and was the much better QB. Lee learned a lot from Ganz and really started to take after him in working on the mental part of the game. Is Ganz still ahead of Lee in this department, yes which is why I said earlier that Ganz would start over Lee today. That doesn't mean that Lee isn't closing the gap quickly because it appears he is. Assuming that the chatter and reports we hear about Lee in this regard are true, then I fully expect Lee to shatter Ganz's numbers. Lee can make throws that Ganz simply couldn't, the offense will have capabilities in the passing game not previously seen under Ganz. Will it take time, yes it will and I don't expect Lee to be that good in September. However I wouldn't put it past Lee to be a really good player this year and shock you in Lawrence, he will have played in some really big games by then, including a trip to Blacksburg, VA, so I think he will be more than ready for the game in Lawrence. I'll give you that caveman. Good post. But I can't see Lee "shattering Ganz numbers". Ganz had some good receivers during his time at NU. It's pre-mature to tell if Lee will have the same talent level at receiver.
  18. Don't forget that Lee is a MUCH better runner than Ganz. Watching Ganz run the option or even scramble around was painful. It all looked very ugly. Most all of us liked Ganz - but it was based on his leadership, work ethic, testicular fortitude, and overall character - not his athletic ability. JGS, you have been wrong so many times about your team, that I don't take you seriously anymore. 10-2 in 2008; 2-1 in the South; beat USF; beat Nebraska; KU's D will be great; KU's O will be great; KU will win the North. BOOK IT! Well, all of those predictions turned out well. Hey, I guess one out of seven right isn't too bad. Ouch Michael, that was harsh. For a guy you don't take serious anymore, you're always one of the first ones to chime in with your opinion everytime I post. Funny how that works. At least I have the gurrr to make predictions and I've owned up to everyone on this board that I was wrong about last year's record. As stated many times on this baord before, preseason predictions are all in good fun. Nobody really knows how they will be until they begin playing the games. I knew after the second game of the season that we wouldn't beat Texas or Texas Tech in Lawrence, because of our lack of a running game and poor offensive line play. But unlike last year, I plan to wait until late August to make my preseason prediction....I will say KU will go 9-3 in 2009, but I'm not ready to predict the games. You'll just have to wait and see.
  19. "I will say this though, if Ganz and Lee had the same eligibility timeline and assuming that both players were similar in their rate of non-physical development, then Lee would beat out Ganz as the starter". -Caveman99 WOW. Do you honestly believe this Caveman??
  20. That about covers it! Oh wait.......NO WAY!!!
  21. Congratulations! That plus $1.00 will get you a cup of coffee somewhere nice. All this conjecture is meaningless. All these ridiculous comparisons you guys want to do between Woods and Zac Lee are ridiculous. There is no way to compare a JUCO QB to a JUCO DE. It's apples and potatoes. Bottom line - both Kansas and Nebraska will have good teams. Both lost some good players, both have some good players returning, and both have some good players stepping up from obscurity. Trying to decide who is better in June is a waste of time. Hey Lee was the top rated JUCO QB and the 10th best JUCO player overall!!! He has to be better than Woods right?!?!?! Anyway, I wasn't comparing Lee to Woods, JGS30 did that. I was commenting on his ability to be a big impact this year and I was commenting on how Lee has more "ability" than Ganz. Somehow JGS made it a comparison. I NEVER COMPARED THE PLAYERS THEMSELVES TO EACH OTHER!!! We were talking about how ready each will be after their experience. You can't compare them-the positions are to different.
  22. Zac Lee led his team to the JUCO championship game. What did Quinton Woods do? here is a pretty good article on the subject of the DL and the D as a whole Here you go How does linking to an article I read two weeks ago prove that Zac Lee's JUCO year was not as good as Quinton Woods? The sum total of discussion about Woods in that article is, "And I expect junior college transfer Quinton Woods to be an immediate force on the other side." Further, this is an opinion piece and provides zero stats to back up any claim made by the writer. So what's your point here? Here's my response angry eddie! I don't have his official stats on-hand, but he made a huge impact at the juco level. Woods team didn't win a championship, but he was first team all conference and ranked in the top 30 juco players at season's end. He was committed to Michigan out of high school as a 3 star recruit (not that stars really matter). Then he was 6'4 215lbs. Now he is 6'6 245.

We're stacked with depth! Oh, and the article talks about Kevin Young......sorry husker fans
