  1. It wouldn't be the first time a coach was not familiar with some fine detail of a rule. ... or an official...
  2. Now.. I'd say punting it would be the last option (first behind going for it, and then the next option would be kicking the fg, with punting being the last option). But.. at the time, I agreed with punting it. I had thought a field goal would be a good choice since I was thinking we had the favorable direction of wind (after watching us kick off from both directions.. but was this correct?) But if you looked at our defense and TT's passing... punting seemed like a good idea. As for trying for the conversion/field goal, I imagine we were also thinking if we were stopped or missed it... 1- the crowd/players would be fired up, 2- the negative/disappoint for our players, 3- 'good' field position... Not necessarily a good or bad decision, but this may have been some factors I was thinking about..
  3. Not to start a whole other argument, but it actually may have.. (ie-- first & goal, and moving ourselves out of field goal range on penalties...) I know we cannot place the whole game on a signal play or "7 yards," but just a thought.
  4. Unfortunately, I think the majority of us could come up with our own 'it was over when...' stories from today. For me, two of my friends' comments hurt... When we got the 1st and goal and had the first penalty my friend said, "Wouldn't it be funny if we took ourselves out of field goal range?" The kicker was when the Hokies got the ball back for their final possession and my roommate said, "Isn't this game eerily similar to the USC- Ohio State game?" And sure enough, they pull it out..
  5. The bad part is no one seems to know right away what parts of the rule book to refer to (as seen right here). How do you think today's officials were going to be able to make a completely correct call that is consistent with others around the league? I'm just saying, I think the NCAA and the officials needs to sit down and really hammer out what the call is going to be like in situations like this so everyone is making consistent calls across the board. -- then we can continue just complaining about the officials and not the rules..
  6. Yeah, unfortunately I haven't found the time to get out shooting as much recently. I need to look at my manual to get into the auto bracketing mode (if not.. I might just try manually changing it). Come spring I hope to have a lot more time to get out shooting and trying some new stuff. You said it was a total of 18 images for the panorama? Did you take 6 vertical shots across (left-to-right type of thing)? And for something like that.. do you stitch those together first to get your 3 different exposure pictures and then to post-editing with photomatix? Or something different?
  7. Ok yeah I was just wondering though with movement issues just how quickly they shoot? Because I was just going to try manually changing the exposure.. Also, do you experiment a lot with using something other than the -2, +2 range? And, again.. impressive photo.
  8. Just make the drive over to Omaha and crash someone's party.. I'm sure they won't mind.
  9. Speaking of the 'older folk' of the Memorial Stadium crowd.. I think it is a give and take with having such great 'tradition' and 'history.' Of course we could have a stadium full of people willing to stand and jump around all the time, but I think it does say something good about our program that we still have people (some that can barely walk) here in Lincoln every week. Right? But yeah it would be nice to see everyone jumping around (it's just a more visual and in this age of images, it is always nice to put our best foot forward).
  10. Is there some new feature on some cameras that takes the three all at the same time? I thought I might have heard about a rumor about something like that...
  11. 1) How long have you been a member of Husker Nation? Since I can remember... (continue into #2) 2) What/who led you to The Nation? My family/community. 3) Where are you from originally? Cook, NE (pop= 330) 4) Where do you live now? Lincoln, going to UNL 5) Favorite Husker memory? Standing on the sideline during Henery's kick against Colorado... (hard choice, but because I was on the sideline for it, combined with a trip to Florida hanging in the balance... this one is my favorite) 6) Worst Husker memory? Maybe even harder question... 2002 Texas game... right after the great punt return by DeJuan Groce, we throw the interception... (as for more recent... ughhh) 7) Number of home games attended? Around 30? (Every home game since 2006 plus some others) 8) Number of away games attended? 7 (2006- ISU, Big 12 Champ, Cotton Bowl. 2007- Mizzou, ISU. 2008- KSU, Gator Bowl.) 9) Favorite Husker memorabilia/apparel? 2001 Blackshirt poster signed by almost every player to line up on D for us that year. (I realize the last two games of the season may be reason for this to go down on my list... But I received this signed poster courtesy of Groce...) 10) Favorite place to watch a Husker game? Anywhere in the Stadium... but variety is good (being able to stay home and watch an away game is also very enjoyable). 11) Favorite all time player? Probably DeJuan Groce, especially after getting to know him. 12) WCO or Option? I'm not a fan of the full WCO, nor the old Option. But if I had to chose I'd go with the Option. 13) Stevie Pederson or Billy Byrne? Byrne. I don't think S.P. will ever get the respect for the things he (positively) did for us... 14) Lil Red or Herbie Husker? Herbie 15) Favorite Husker play? Oh too many... I'll go with Tommie's TD run against the Gators. 16) Favorite game-day beverage? I end up drinking a lot of water because of all the running around and yelling... But if I had my choice... 17) How did you find HuskerBoard? (referral source) I'm not sure... I might have been reading 'the other site' and wanted to be able to post without forking up any $$.
  12. the fumble was a ridiculous missed call. what made me even madder was that during the whole time reviewing the play, they never showed the replay again in the stadium...... wtf, on TV all they do is show replays of the play being reviewed from like 80 different angles. You mean this "fumble"? And I think it is early an NCAA rule or Big 12 policy not to show plays under review...?
  13. Someone in this forum was asking for pictures of the stadium or something and someone posted a link to flickr just searching Memorial Stadium. And man, your pictures stood out.
  14. I actually ran into these pictures a couple weeks ago. I really hope to get into HDR photography... Any hints on software?
  15. Yeah, BigBL87 got it right. It looked like Martin was at the bottom of a four-man pile (with the other three not being Huskers). It definitely appeared that some sort of extra curricular activities were going on and I really wish the officials would have been able to catch it.. leading to the offsetting penalties.
  16. Agreed. The first half seemed to be alright as we were rolling, but I expected to pound the ball more in the second half. Not quite the same feeling coming out of the first game nor the best going into Va Tech. But, maybe that is a good thing? This might give us more motivation to correct things while also avoiding tapping into the keg of kool-aid.
  17. As far as I can tell about the actually question... I think you could sit (well, stand) in the student section the whole rest of the year and not see it again or begin to tell that they are in the minority. Of course the student section has its positives and negatives, but a lot of the experience can be determined by who you are randomly stuck nearby.
  18. I was thinking more of some video feature... Like I think the 'which helmet is the pizza under' almost ran over an entire play...
  19. Did anyone notice how at least once (if not more times) they had some video running as a play on the field began? (That was my biggest complaint-- I hope they don't get too caught up in making things 'better, cooler, etc' and end up actually taking away from the game).
  20. About the use of the 'big' big screen, I agree there should be some changes. Like maybe keep in the way it is (format requiring so) and then for the replays have the whole board just divided into 2 sections and have 2 different views of the play going..
  21. Yeah, if you want more mobility, go with something smaller. But, if you don't mind a separate power cord for your external hard drive, I'd recommend the WD: MyBook. I have two of them (one running a complete back up and the other for photo storage). One feature to look at also is the connection-- USB or Firewire. If you are planning on moving large files or many files... the Firewire will give you the extra speed (but you will probably pay around $50 more than for the same thing with only a USB port).
  22. I like the idea of coming up with some from within the university... But... and I may regret saying this (and bringing up another piece of 'forgotten' past), but wasn't the last time we tried something 'new/original' concerning the tunnel walk (and music in general) was the Mikey Bo mix of the Saw theme song and Sirius? Maybe it was just the combo of the video that turned fans off (and the idea of) changing the music? (and I realize this isn't necessarily talking about a 'theme for the Blackshirts to take the field')
  23. sheeyit bro, you dont have to be sorry for stating your opinion... thats what this board is all about, despite what the wound up folks might say. Yeah, it might seem a little weird, but this is also my favorite. With and/or without the changes for the 9/11 tribute.
  24. Yeah, with the stuff I've seen on the screens so far, everything looks a lot sharper with the upgrade to high-def. (But, for the ribbon boards, hopefully they change the format I saw and get rid of some of the ads they have...) Also, for all those with seats under the balconies, look forward to the upgraded TVs...
  25. Well, I basically stick to the 4-3 and nickel defenses (leaning mostly to the nickel)-- which you can take my idea with that in mind... Against the mobile qb's, using the DE contain, linebacker spy, and outside blitzes do help as gmoney said. Which player are you usually controlling? Getting a good push with a DE would help, but no matter which lineman you are controlling, just make sure you don't create holes in your own defense by getting out of position. But yeah, 'friends' that always choose a mobile qb are frustrating. Especially when they abuse a sometimes overrated combination of speed and accuracy.
