  1. I have recently heard from a reliable source that Nebraska will take up to 32 recruits this year. Of those 32 we will have up to 3 greyshirts. The possible greyshirt candidates are Demetrious Davis, Jared Crick, and LaTravis Washington. There will also be players leaving in the offseason freeing up more scholarships making it possible to take so many recruits.
  2. From what I have heard we will take up to 30. We can do so because of academic scholarships and people currently on roster that will leave the team. It is also possible that one of the players showing up for spring ball will be counted toward last year's total. Another thing to consider is someone greyshirting.

Anyone have any clue how many stars this guy will have at this time next year?
  4. I don't like to criticize recruits and I trust what Callahan is doing. However, I was never really fond of this guy. I heard that early on we told him he would be a linebacker for us (which is what he would prefer to play) but I think it is very important to have fast linebackers especially in this day and age when most teams in the Big 12 run either a spread or a west coast offense. If we're going to have him play D-End for us then that is great, but if not it won't bother me letting him go.
  5. I am thrilled to hear about this! I think he will be a good one and will add much needed depth. Our top three corners could be VERY good next year (we may actually run nickel once in a while). Unlike most of you- I don't have anything wrong with Andre Jones. Teams have thrown at Grixby and away from Jones all season. That's why you dont see him making interceptions and breaking up passes.
  6. I'm very excited about our team this year. The 5-0 start has been awesome and our team- especially our starters- has looked great. This weekend and next week will tell us a lot though. We have away games at Rutgers and Oregon. Oregon just beat #23 Georgetown last night at Georgetown. I've never been this excited about Nebraska basketball!
  7. I was just wondering what some of you think about Zay Taylor being named OPOY and how beneficial it will be in recruiting. The last time a Nebraska player got this honor it was Eric Crouch. I think it is important to have a pro-style QB named Offensive Player of the Year because it proves we CAN make this West-Coast thing work in Nebraska. However, one thing I was wondering is how many high schoolers say freshmen or sophomores (future recruits) are aware that ZT won the award?
  8. We have enough senior leadership on this team (especially on defense) that I expect them to get the defense ready and psyched up and step up to the challenge of stopping this Sooner rushing attack.
  9. I agree with what your roommate said. I too was at the game and I think that our top 7 or 8 guys will enable us to be really competitive in the Big 12. However, if we need to go any deeper than that we will be in trouble. I cannot say how important Maric is. Especially against man defense. He just makes things work. If we lose him we things will get very bad very quickly. Charles Richardson Jr. is another very important piece of the puzzle. He provides a lot of senior leadership on a very young team. It is obvious that he is the main leader on the team.
  10. I got chills while reading it. And started getting sad when it talked about Taylor's last game. Great stuff. Does anyone know if CMB23 does this for every game or just on occasion? I've only read this one and the USC one.
  11. After watching the first three games this year, I thought it would take Doc a while to turn this team around. However, we looked very good against Creighton. The players seem to be buying into Doc's philosophy (the play their butts off and play good defense). I think we can make it to the tournament this year and if we do... it should be no problem recruiting players to come here. Within a few years we could be pretty darn good especially since Charles Richardson Jr. is the only senior that plays and most of our best players are freshmen and sophomores.
  12. I thought Nebraska looked pretty good in the UNO game. Much better than they did in the first two games. UNO played Creighton just as tough if not tougher than the played us from what I have heard. After seeing the game I am fairly optimistic about our season. The true test will come Saturday.
  13. I think I want Texas- it would be great to avenge that loss.
  14. I heard LaTravis is going to Columbus for the Ohio St. and Michigan game.
  15. I was concerned initially. To tell you the truth I was more concerned about CU than A&M. The thing is that you never know what you're going to get with Colorado. One game they will play great the next they will be absolutely horrible again. Alas, I am no longer worried and here is why. Callahan is superb after off weeks. When given that extra week to prepare he is nearly unbeatable (especially against inferior competition). Another thing is that Callahan is a perfectionist. You guys think our second half problems bother us fans? Believe me, it bothers Callahan much, much more. Therefore, Callahan will effectively use the bye week to cure those problems and devise a gameplan that will dispose of the Buffalos. Go Big Red!
  16. That is great to hear. I just hope his SAT scores come back good and he'll be 'N'. With his size, speed, and blood lines- I am thinking this kid might be capable of big things.
  17. Earlier in the season I was hoping to get Oklahoma. I was thinking it would be nice to beat both Oklahoma and Texas in the same year. However, we let the Texas game slip away so now it looks like we'll only be able to beat one of them this year. Too bad.
  18. That is great to hear. Competition breeds success. We have competition at nearly every position on the field. Now we have it at kicker as well. It can only signify great things for the future.
  19. Since the last 2 games were 11 a.m. starts, I was wondering who all will be visiting for Colorado. Will we be able to get all of the people that were scheduled to visit for other games in for this one? Someone please enlighten me. So far we have: OT Markus Zusevics DE/RB Apiata Tuihalamaka (4-Star)
  20. On this play Purify demonstrates athletic ability like I have never seen before. He is definitely a stud but what is very exciting to me is that we are just now starting to utilize him the way we can (his playing time is still increasing). This next season and a half will be a lot of fun to watch with him as the go to guy.
  21. This is interesting. Last year I thought we were sitting pretty well at kicker. Now I feel like we need a little more leg strength because Congdon is no good from 40+ yards. Although he is pretty reliable from there in.
  22. I heard that they are both 100% and will be playing. Good to hear! We need these guys. Plus, our defense takes on a whole new dimension and attitude when Octavien is out there. Go Big Red!
  23. I like that kind of attitude from our players. It seems like we are starting to get it back after lacking it for some of the Solich years.
  24. The part of the defense that I am most excited about is the secondary, especially the corners. You may think I'm crazy but I think it will go from being one of the weakest parts to one of the strongest. With Bowman back and an extra year for all of our others we will be very strong. I wonder what Grixby will think of starting some of his Frosh year and every year from then on and then being benched his Sr. year- I think Bowman and Jones will be starting. I am not even sure Grixby will be the nickel back because of possible recruits such as Turenne and Ross as well as current players like Culbert, Thenarse, and even Corey Young (remember we put him in for Grixby some during the Kansas game). At safety we will have Green coming back who will hopefully be better with another year under his belt and someone else that will be stepping in for the first time (maybe Culbert or Thenarse). The future is looking bright!
  25. I am one of the fans that will tell you that we need more speed on the defense- especially at linebacker. Many also say we need to drop the size of our defensive ends. Every one is very concerned about stopping Jorvorski Lane but this is the kind of player and offensive style that our defense is designed to stop. I for one don't think it will be that big of a deal. Their other running back is the one we should be worried about. He is very fast and may have the speed to reach the corner on our defense because of the stuff I previously listed.
