  1. Awesome post. Sums up a lot of what I have been trying to say in some of the other posts here lately.
  2. I agree. Just have to keep it up!
  3. I don't doubt your experiences you have with the LJS. After their handling of the Solich firing and some of the articles that I have read online, they are pretty much irrelevant in my opinion So you are in Cali? Where at?
  4. Good post. I thought Callahan had said that he wants NU to be his last stop? Correct me if I am wrong.
  5. 1. Where was I giving the fans any credit? I know fans as a group are fickle. The fans that reside here are not fickle. That's who I am talking about. They and I will be around for a very very long time. The same fans that would be calling for Callahans job are the same that are still hanging on to the idea that somehow Frank will come back. I think some of these people work at LJS, after reading a couple articles posted here. 2. What percentage are walk on players? I don't know off the top of my head. You brought the topic up, you back it up. The fact is that most of the team wasn't made up of walk-ons before and even less now. Either way I don't see the cutting of the walk-on program effecting this. Callahan himself has said that walk-ons are still accepted but you have to bring something to the team. Some walk-on's in previous years have been nothing but filler really. 3. Sure, if it isn't broke, don't fix it. However, whether it was broke is debatable. I think we were settling into mediocrity and recruiting was lacking. That's one thing that we will never know and debating it further is futile. Where were you in January and February? This was dicussed at extreme length. 4. Two losing seasons is one thing. I stated that he wouldn't be fired after this season, IF it is losing, because I really believe it won't be a losing season. Call it being a fan, but I have some faith in the team and the staff.
  6. I think they have done a great job so far. Something like 73 drop backs and 1 sack? What do you guys think? I am not sure how good So. Miss's defensive front is, but their defense as a whole is pretty good.
  7. NU 49 Pitt 24 Passing 265 Rushing 245 The team is so unpredictable now, I believe if they hit on all cylinders it could be explosive. Or, again, we dont' get off the line.
  8. West Coast offense comes in a variety of forms. There are not a lot of colleges that run the West Coast offense, because, of course, it is a PRO style offense. For a classic explanation of the west coast offense, try http://www.westcoastoffense.com/. If it is elite teams you want, try some of the Super Bowl champions of the last 10 years. This list is a couple years old, but 1. USC 2. BYU 3. CAL 4. Stanford 5. West Virginia 6. Texas Good conditions? Lame excuse if you ask me. You can run and pass when it is colder. If you didn't notice, Cory Ross had a great day saturday and Callahan did start running the ball more when the passing game just wasn't working out. But, you still can't be one dimensional anymore ala previous Husker teams IMO
  9. Welcome to the board. 1. Frank Solich was hired because Tom retired and basically appointed him. The idea that he was hired to "clean up the team" is asinine in my opinion. You make it sound like the University forced Tom out of his position. I have not read or seen anything that suggests this. 2. This is football, not a character contest. Nebraska still has many, many academic all Americans every year and will continue to do so. Even though I think the character argument is BS, I will go with it a bit. There are plenty of players that have decent character. Let's see. Tommie Frazier, Ahman Green, Eric Crouch, Scott Frost are just a few off the top of my head. Any team is going to have it's problem players. Again, this is football and not a character contest. Moreover I think Callahan's indefinite suspension of Icongnito shows that the team will not put up with horrible behavior even if he is key to the team. He was our most experienced lineman and has great talent. He seems to be too much of a jarhead for his own good. If you think this doesn't go on anywhere else you are fooling yourself. If you want to have a team in which everyone is of the highest character at all times, you might consider opening your own school. I don't know of one that exists. 3. Callahan’s history at Oakland has more to do with Al Davis and a scenario where he let a few members of the team dictate the direction of the team. Al Davis is the biggest prick in the whole deal. Do some research. 4. It's not wrong to root for another team. 5. Fans abandoning Nebraska? Did you see the volumes of people tailgating and hanging around before the Western Illinois game? Did you miss the roar when Callahan led the team out for the first time or when the first play from scrimmage was run? Sweet Sweet abandonment. 5. I am sick and tired of "fans" with this attitude. These people who are constant nay sayers and continue to live in the past and wallow in your pity for the team, the program and the state in general. I am sorry you insist on feeling this way, but save it. 6. Kind of unrelated to your post, but, any realist understands that introducing a new style of offense and a new staff is going to take time. That means we are probably going to lose some games in the first few years. Anyone who thinks otherwise isn't in touch with the reality of the situation and is better off touching base in a couple years. In the mean time, the rest of us will be enjoying watching the new era take hold. News flash. Bill Callahan will not be fired for a losing record this year. Sorry for being somewhat harsh, it's just how it is.
  10. Just for the record, I think this WOW factor is BS. The offense is different, thus the plays in all situations have a good chance of being different that what we have seen. Again, it comes down to execution. Protecting the ball is part of proper execution. You can't give up the ball 5 times and win against a So. Miss. They will make you pay along with the rest of the teams we play this year. That is what lost us this game. You can't just magically forget what happened in the rest of the game. Let's move to next week guys.
  11. Crap! That makes it even worse. Oh well. Chalk it up to a learning experience and lets move on. Hit those open receivers next weekend!! Is he having trouble seeing the field? I would love to see that game tape. Might someone be able to get a copy and capture it?
  12. Still comes down to execution for me. It's easy to say, after the fact, what we could have run different plays. Who knows if they would have worked? No one does. All you can do is speculate. If the plays called had been executed better, this thread woudn't exist IMO. Oh and forgive me for having some faith in the new system. Sheesh. When you have a different system, the play calling is going to be different. Doesn't that make sense? Sure, looking back on it I would have liked to see a couple running plays on the last drive. That doesn't mean another play would have worked when executed.
  13. Do we know that these things aren't happening in practice? If they aren't, sure, work on it. When I reffered to retardedness, I was more reffering to the way I read the first post. It seems there is an underlying message there that Callahan doesn't know how to coach. That, IMO, is retarded.
  14. Obviously Dailey needs to improve. Assuming he has the talent and the head, it is just going to take time. Hopefully, the time required is going to be short. I am sure him and Callahan know that. Do we have another QB ready to step in? Adams isn't healthy and Davis isn't ready. Thus, we are at the mercy of Dailey's learning curve. Next week is a big test again on the road. It could be ugly.
  15. The numbers show that the offense produces. The problem is I don't know of an offense that can recover from 5 turnovers against a team like So. Miss. The offense works and don't let anyone tell you otherwise.
  16. I have been an NU fan all my life and will continue to be and I see where you are coming from. From my point of view, its hard to be a football fan in Nebraska and not be a Husker fan. I know people who have moved here from other states and become fans shortly after the move. I am certainly not in touch with people your age anymore, although I am probably only 7 years older than you. There will always be fans like you and I who have always been fans and always will be. These fans usually come from family history. Hopefully, families keep passing the tradition on. Go big red.
  17. Southern Miss. covered Herian well, I bet Amos was covered well most of the day.
  18. I agree 100% with that it comes down to execution and it just didn't get done. Props to So. Miss for taking the opportunity and running with it. I give a B because A's don't come easy.
  19. Ah,the game I was watching the play was in Dailey just stalled while reading the defense. Why make adjustments when the players can't execute? This game came down to execution. The players have to make the play. Period. You have timeouts to take them. You can't hold them constantly thinking there is going to be a better time to take them. Then you would be complaining that he didn't take timeouts and was left with 1 or two. If you need them, take em. Period.
  20. When I first that, I has like what the hell is going on. But as you saw NO PITTMAN, ANYWHERE That's true, I did notice that.
  21. The way I see it, holding on to the ball is a very fundamental thing. No matter what level you play on, you can't give the ball away. It's not as if the players get to D-1A and forget that holding on the to ball is important. I will give you that Dailey's inexperience with the offense is leading to bad decisions. But that's on him, not the staff in my opinion
  22. Oh god, here we go. I thought some rtard would bring this up. The coach, any coach, can pound into the players the importance of holding on to the ball. Any coach, even a peewee coach, tells his players this. If the players don't do it, you blame the players. That's it. Period. Anyone remember the days when Ahman had trouble holding on to the ball? Exactly. If you honestly feel that Callahan hasn't told the players to hold on to the ball, I feel for you,
