  1. Do you mean that most men would have gone for the tie because having a mythical national chamionship was more important than taking the risk to win the game outright? Sorry, don't buy that. Didn't then, don't now. Go for a tie? Are you kidding me? Why would anyone in a sport do anything other than whatever it took to WIN the GAME?
  2. Does anyone have a copy of or link to the email ESPN refers to about the legendary first meeting between Pelini and the Defense back in 2002? Sure would like to resurrect that if any has it.
  3. Good question and I really have no idea. I am just very glad that the walk on program is being revitalized. I sincerely hope it is more than just talk.
  4. I would absolutely love to see that, with our fullbacks as of lately not being much of an offensive threat ( not saying they will play a different role this next year. ) I think that would be much more difficult for opposing defenses having such a threat like Castille/Glenn and Lucky in the backfield. Couldn't agree with ya more junior! Hmmm, the fullback as an integral part of the offensive scheme...... What a novel concept. I bet you could fake outside and give it to the fullback up to middle to score a touchdown and win a national championship. Yeah, I bet you could! Oh and also, hit the tight end deep over the middle. Yeah, I bet that would work some too! Good posts!
  5. Yeah, get rid of rumorville and turn the Search Function back on please.
  6. The only tradition that counts is SMASH MOUTH and the idea that any team facing the Huskers will leave the field, win, lose, or draw, and feel that game for the next couple of weeks. If BO restores that, on both sides of the ball, in all aspects of the game, the rest of the "traditions" will take care of themselves!
  7. He's surely given himself an uphill battle to become a leader and gain the respect and trust of his teammates.
  8. They wouldn't understand. It would be too technical for them, especially since they excelled in every aspect of coaching. Given that, they always had an excellent game plan and no adjustments were ever necessary.
  9. Oh, there you touche feely types go again. That's SSSSOOOOOOOO People's Republic of Boulder! Actually, I had a blast at the game this year. All but one fan were pretty fun to jaw with during the game and that exception left before half and didn't come back until CU was way ahead. Even the CU folks were bashin' him. You just gotta love college!!!
  10. Did I miss something here? Are my facts wrong? I'm just saying that this whole thing stinks to high heaven. IBR knew months ago EXACTLY what was going to happen. Doesn't this mean anything at all to you? You didn't state ANY facts, just supposition based upon temporal coincidence. You then ascribe to the accused parties knowlege and or intent which has no basis in fact whatsoever. Just like all the other conspiracy reactionaries in the world. Even if what you posted was factual, it was certainly not ALL the facts. Until you have irrefutable proof of such slanderous statements, I'd suggest you just go away.
  11. Some time in the 60's, Bob Devaney. I think, decided it was a good idea to have the defense have a different colored jersey. They went to the store and all they had was black. So that's what was given to the defense. It has since become a mark of achievement to be given a black shirt which up until recently denoted a starter on defense. It had been a mark of excellence, indicating that you had earned the right to take the field as a part of the most feared defensive unit in college football. Nowadays, not so much I am afraid. However, it is my fervent hope, and I think I speak for all Husker fans, that the BLACKSHIRT DEFENSE with it's in your face attitude of punishment on every play, will again become the norm at UNL.
  12. Wags had it right. When the Husker only run the ball 11 times when it's 3rd and 3, that's a problem. Whoever the OC is, they better get the OL fixed and fast. Sure, we can score LOTS of points against mediocre teams but when you come up to the big leagues, OL blocking this past season just didn't cut it.
  13. Well the Huskers.com site shows the same thing. I hope they keep it the day after Thanksgiving though.
  14. How much for bowl eligibility? How much for North Div championship? How much for B12? How much for Bowl win? How much for NC? Is this even potentially reasonable or even possible?
  15. Please dont EVER EVER EVER use that word on this board again................. Just don't wow, really? you're going there? you know, that the word sooner is an insult to oklahoma cuz they're cheaters. and premature...finishers.
  16. Red smoke. now that would be awesome! Ohhhhhh, yeah. That's the ticket.
  17. My wife, who is not that into football, but knows of the situation with Bo because of me telling her, noticed this as well. We were watching the end of the game and she mentioned that it was pretty obvious what was going on. Bo is clearly coming here and I for one am very excited about our future. Bo may not be perfect, but with TO's giudance, will do quite well. My wife says the same thing. She is always right about these kinds of things, ya' know. Hmmmmmm
  18. What about the Turbo Gillini thread. Now, that there was funny
  19. Please dont EVER EVER EVER use that word on this board again................. Just don't
  20. I know. Bo will change at least one Husker tradition. Instead of releasing red balloons after the first score, the entire stadium will light up and simultaneously exhale a cloud of smoke!!!!!!!!!
  21. If your team had a chance to play for NC, which as we know, doesn't happen all that often, it would seem to me to be very hard to leave before that game. Not only does he have a lot invested with those kids and that team, but to leave makes him subject accusations that he really isn't in it for the kids. What would that say to potential recruits and their parents? On the other hand, if you play that game and lose, he's now a coach that chokes on the big one. Plus, he loses all that recruiting time. I am sorry but I really have no position on whether or not BO is the best pick. But, I think this is NOT a good situation for the future of NU.
  22. He could say that Pelini WILL BE the coach but it won't be effective till after the NCG. That ought ot work.
