  1. down 24-7 in the 2nd Q. Whoda thunk it? I hope they pull it out and win.......they are my favorite team after the Big Red............
  2. I can't help but think with all the "best fans" posts after last week, and all the slamming on here now with the OSU loss this week, that this is true. I'm upset we lost, question what happened, but it's over. We still control our destiny by winning out, so have faith the coaches and players figure it out. There were several things went wrong with this game, and you practice hard and work 'em out. It's not lost yet, but one more loss and it will be. One game at a time, that's all you can do. Don't give up on 'em yet. They need our support more than ever, and I still have hope. Let's not start being "fair-weather" fans..........
  3. we lose no more games. This is the end of the "Texas Tech" syndrome and the players and coasches know it............
  4. OK, I'm down as well about this blowout loss, but we can still win the north and make it back to the Big 12 title game. Iowa State lost as well, giving NU and MU a 1-game loss "window" to play with. We take MU next week, I promise you the momentum carries us over A&M and CU, and we're in KC! About the game today, the defense never generated a "take-no-prisoners" attitude the offense started with. After OSU's QB 54-yard run and subsequent TD, the momentum was never ours- the rest of the game!!! When you're up by 16, you cannot have a letdown, and that starts with the defense shutting down the opposing offense- this is why this is a team sport, both sides contribute. Can we fix it? I don't know. We have to dominate 4 quarters, not 1 1/2. Time will tell.................
  5. That's the most racist thing I've ever seen here. Sure we sucked, but it wasn't a race issue. Get a clue.......
  6. Win every game, win the Championship. Simple in theory, but there are a lot of intangibles involved. Sure, team talent is important, but there is also chemistry, injuries, opponents records, and the will to "want it all". The 94-95 teams had injuries galore, won games with a 3rd stringbackup-QB, yet pulled it off 2 years in a row. Why? because those teams had a resiliency and a drive to take no prisoners, and the offense & defense operated as a single entity- to destroy the competition. And they did. We are getting close to that again, and Nebraska domination is just around the bend. Remember, this a young team grasping the new system, and it will only get better. So, yeah. We have the talent, we have the schedule, and we have the means to do it again. I can't wait!!!!!!!
  7. Well, being an ex kicker myself, I can tell you it's not as easy as you think. Yeah, touchbacks are good, but that's like asking how come every pass doesn't go for an 80-yard TD. I've seen quite a few kicks go for touchbacks this year, but you're right- consistency is lacking. I'm more interested in the PAT's and field goal percentages myself, because those mean points. Besides, fielding a kickoff opens the chances for missed catches & fumbles, no? We're doing alright...........
  8. OK, I admit, I too freaked when he put it on the ground, but I would have done that if it had been my brother, or myself. He just needs to shake it off and get ready for the Cowpokes. I feel an even bigger factor in the game was not calling a T.O. 'til there was only 30-something seconds left on the clock. He burned two for the kick anyway. Calling them right after Texas got the ball back could have slowed their momentum and readied our defense. Sad loss to a great team, and the mutual respect shown on the field between these 2 schools shows what true sportsmanship and a well-played game should be played like, unlike the Miami fiasco. Kudos to both schools.
  9. We control our own destinies on the field, and the object is not to lose. As far as NU anyway, they must win out and win the Big 12 Championship. The BCS will come to them after that- they have to! Polls are so political, the only way to get to the top is to win, win, win! That's not factoring in the "conference preference" factor, i.e. Pac 10, Big 10. Maybe we should be the Big 10+2, to confuse the voters! Dr. Tom didn't put much stock in the polls until the end of the year, when the bowl game bids came around. Neither should we............ BTW, the game that concerns me most is with A&M at College Station. You guys always give us fits down there.
  10. Sweeeeeeeeeeeet!! Man, we had a lot more awesome plays than I remember. Good job! Keep 'em comin'........
  11. Got my vote as well. On a footnote, he was 22nd nationally and 4th in the Big 12 after my vote
  12. First off, to have a Heisman contender, we have to be at the top of our game like USC and Ohio State are right now. But don't worry, that's right around the corner. The player could be anybody, but he has to be a gamebreaker and a playmaker all season long, and have to have some major stats to back it up, unfortunately. The media and the Heisman always like winners, so it's a really subjective thing.
  13. Well, I think 122 completions on 192 attempts for 1,824 yards and 3 picks is pretty respectable. He also has a 67.5% completion rate with 16 TD's. You have to remember that he has to run the gameplan given to him by the coaches, and that changes every game. With the discovery of the running game this year, NU hasn't needed to pass it as often, which also keeps Taylor healthier. The only criticism I really have is that he needs to take off a lot quicker when the receivers are covered or when the pocket collapses, and to throw the ball away to prevent the negative sack yardage- if able. 'Course, the coaches could also come up with a more aggressive gameplan once in a while to get a quicker jump on opponents, but that's just me. Overall, I feel Zac is a lot more comfortable and mature running the offense, and is playing within the given gameplan. I mean, 3 picks is pretty dang good at this stage if you ask me. Go NU!
  14. Nah, not in the band. Just a Husker native that plays drums- I combined my two favorite things.
  15. Hey Husker fanatics, great to be here. This is a very informative board, and is fun to read. Been reading the poll posts, and all I have to say is that it doesn't matter right now, even with the BCS rankings thrown in too. All that matters is that NU wins out, beats Texas in the Big 12 title game, and get a BCS bowl bid. The polls will take care of themselves, and this scenario should automatically put Nebraska in the Top 5, or close to it. I too have been spoiled by the national titles and undefeated seasons, so our time is coming again. The most important goal right now is one game at a time. Texas shows we have the talent to play with anybody, so therein is the hope for the future of NU football! It is exciting again!!!!!!
