it's funny to see all the nicknames for the idiot who ruined CBS sports NFL coverage back in the day. if they didn't have Madden and Summerall back then, Brent Drunkdriver (remember that?) would have killed it's entire sports department.

i guess this news is going to stop people predicting us going to the Holiday Bowl. "Texas looks better because they're the defending national champs even though they lost two straight to end the season and inevitably play themselves out of the ccg." "A&M looks good because they beat Texas and Nebraska didn't." the stupid reason s for us to not go to a game that we deserve are mind boggling.

if we go to the fiesta or the cotton bowl, either way we'd be on FOX. I don't know about anybody else's opinion on this, even though it kept the g-damn BCS alive, the move to FOX delighted me. I hate Lush-burger like crazy. I hate Doug Flutie, mostly because he's a horrible analyst that only reiterates what Craig James says. Thom Brennaman is lead pbp for FOX but they've got five bowls and the NC game. It'll be weird to see who FOX comes up with to call games. Maybe Gary Reasons and Bill Lamb or somebody from FSN?

the score is gonna be mid to high scoring. with the speed up timing of the game, the coaches have no choice but to take some chances to get a lead and keep it. aggressive coaches on the sideline with huge egos that don't want to be one-upped will definitely contribute to that. this game will come down to quarterback play because both defenses will be keying on the running game, because if they don't they all could get burned. Of course the edge goes to ZT and the Huskers. my prediction is 34-31 Nebraska. a lot of sloppy play in the first half by both teams, mostly by the defenses. it gets cleaned up by the second half and becomes a brawl that gets won in the last few minutes by a ZT pass to Purify or Todd Peterson(for some reason)

it's funny to think if that the Pac-10 hadn't robbed OU of a win, OU might be ahead of USC in the BCS rankings.

I agree with everything you said. Bill Callahan and staff may be great, but I'm not seeing it thus far. I think Callahan takes an NFL approach and thinks it's ok to lose one or two games, but that's not how it works in college. Every game counts and instead of playing to minimize a loss, lets play hard, lets play to win every single time! That's what I liked about Bo Pelini. I think he took the talent he had an motivated. Sorry to sort of get off topic with the Pelini comment, but even with the win over Mizzou I'm frustrated. I want our program to be one of the best in the nation again and I'm not seeing it happen. "Winning" the north is setting our sights kind of low in my opinion. Where have we been? Nebraska has not won the north division since 1999. That is seven years without even making the title game. Colorado and Kansas State have both won the division and the ccg since we last won it. IOWA STATE twice had a shot at it, if they could take care of business. Mediocre is where we were. Callahan took it one step at a time and in only three years got us back to within a win of the division title. I hate it when people question the heart of the program. The fans that are displeased with a conference player of the week performance question why the player was played in the first place. The mere fact that we have someone directly behind Ruud on the depth chart that can potentially start, shows how talented he is. It's not mediocre. Missouri losing to the big programs, OU and Nebraska, shows that THEY are mediocre. Iowa State never winning the division when they controlled their destiny, is mediocre. And, we need to realize the south is better than our division. It includes Okie St. now. They have four teams bowl eligible, we have two. We could potentially lose all the games to south teams we play this year. We buried the north teams this year. Improvements we need are: (1) killer instinct on the road, (2) new d coordinator, preferably one who makes in-game adjustments, (3) a johnny-on-the spot safety like mike brown and josh bullocks, and (4) a PLAYmaker. A lot of our guys have that potential, but nobody can take that position.

i don't think we could lose one more....if we lose one more, we'd have to beat missouri. missouri beats us, they basically win out. or missouri has to lose to oklahoma. and that's a good possiblity except that they're best player is gone for the year and OU's D had a hard time playin against Washington. showdown Nov. 4!
