  1. Pomeroy, Technique and fundamentals and being in the right spots does not necessarily equate to good players. THAT responds to the entire post as well. remember Pat Ricketts (as bad as shanle) he had technique and fundamentals and lined up in the right spot all the time
  2. While i tend to agree with HuskerHank, it is our opinion. I agree that Ruud is at best 4th within our linebacking corp. Yes, he doesnt make mistakes. He is in good position, he is fundamentally and technically sound. What he isnt, is scary, feared, schemed for. Great Defenses have a presence. That presence is put forth by sacks and tackles for loss, and vicisious hits. Hits that let the offense know we are there. Hits that send a message. Octo makes mistakes at times but teams know he is there and look for him. they looked for Carriker, and i believe they will look for Asante and Dillard. Ruud is just there. I dont think he is going to hurt us by any means, i just think that to get back to dominance we need violent, aggressive defenders, not technically sound LB's that grab pads, hang on and pray. It really isnt that good of statistic when your LB has more half tackles per game than solos in fact the ratio is about 3 halves to 1 solo

  5. they probably did ask but do you really think the kid would say know. the problem is putting a kid in that spot. No player in his right mind is going to say NO. Was Ross wrong for backing out on us? Is cally wrong for not giving a kid a chance to play?
  6. Now that was well put and I respect it. Octo is healthy now Lucky (hopefully) will prove he is better than BJax Not all true freshman just Thenarse Not selling swift down the river. I should restate I hope the young WR are equal to all the hype that is put upon them. If they are then Swift is not the best WR and should not play. I want to win there for i hope they live up to the hype
  7. His production was down for 2 reasons. 1. Taylor and the other QB realized that they had better targets 2. it takes Swift 2-3 tenths of a second longer to run his routes thus allowing DB's to cover him. Purify didnt have the greatest numbers because every team doubled him because they knew that he was a much greater weapon than swift and somehow i think D-1 Big 12 coaches know a little bit about football. If Swift is the best on our team we aint gonna be very good. AND I SAID ALL THAT WITH A VERY STRAIGHT YET WORRIED FACE You have got to be one of the masses that also think Ruud is AWESOME and Grixby is really good, and since BJAX left we are doomed and Taylor was Montana. Ruud sucks Grixby right behind Ruud although i for one have much less of a problem with Courtney playing than Ruud Bjax is not and will never be in Lucky league And Taylor won Big 12 POY due to the system he was in (Cally won it for him basically) Taylor simply wasnt very good. We will be a much better team if Holt and Henry and Brooks and Paul step up and play, if Keller gets the offense and wins the job, and if lucky gets all the carries, than we ever dreamed of being last year. If we would additionally find a way to get Dillard on the field with McKeon and Octo and leave Ruud off we will be significantly better and if Jones and Murillo step up and Bowmans recovery goes well or if Thenarse would move back to corner ( any combo that keeps Grixby off the field) we will be better still
  8. Lmao. NO HE ISNT. HE MIGHT BE YOUR FAVORITE BUT HE IS NOT THE BEST WR ON THE TEAM. His skill level alone is about 7 or 8. yes he does catch the ball with consistency but so does mopure and so will henry and holt and paul and brooks. i know you and several thousands of nebraskans love him but there is no way you can say with a straight face that he is the best. April fools day was 10 days ago man
  9. Seems to me that many of us have forgotten Barry Turner. You do realize he IS going to be one of the starting D ends. It doesnt matter whether he missed spring or not, he is one of the starters. I find it kind of humorous how we talk about Potter and Allen and Steinkuhler etc but fail to remember that they are all fighting for 1 spot and 1 spot only. Turner is injured not gone. It is his job period. As fans let us not forget him because he is injured. He has played ahead of all these clowns since the day he arrived, why do you now even envision any one of them beating him out.
  10. lucky is not an every down back because we as fans say so. Truly, it remains to be seen. I for one think he will be awesome getting the rock 25-30 times a game. Throughout spring practice we have gotten many different reports on many different topics. There has been 1 count em 1 topic that hasnt changed yet has been brought up every day by players and coaches alike..................... and that is............................ "Marlon Lucky is doing great, playing well etc etc etc. Marlon has really stood out and Marlon had some phenomenal runs. It happens every day Having Culbert there in case of emergency is great but to have him there solely without a chance to compete for a starting job is a crock. He committed to us as a school yet we are failing to hold up our end of the committment to him. I guarantee if he had known that in his sophomore year at school he would have no chance of starting due to the fact that the coaches werent going to give him one, then he would have gone somewhere else. We can all be pissed at David Ross, for his betrayal but i guess it is an accepted practice when our staff is doing it to a player. JOKE
  11. He may be doing fine in fact better than fine, but i do think that as good as a team player as he is, doesnt the university owe it to the player to get them on the field. As good as he may be, he is not going to supplant Lucky. Lucky is going to have a monster year. Therefor, if Culbert does well but isnt going to take the starting job (which he is not) then i think the school owes it to him to get him in a spot to see the field. Going to next year, we brought in some quality running backs to play RUNNING BACK. If he doesnt win the job next year which is a very good possibility, since Lucky will probably be back, then i think we are being very unfair to this young man. Just my 2 cents
  12. He wont have to beat Ricky. You dont think he is here if he didnt know he was gonna play. I think Maybe Ricky should play the other side. Asante and Ricky on the field at same time WOW.
  13. AWESOME. Yesterday was a great day to be a Husker. I got offered 4 season Tickets ( Of course I took only 2) 40 yd line, West Stadium. I get to attend practices next week. I love this state, I love this town, I love this University, I love the Huskers. Sorry not meaning to Gloat but had to share my excitedness with people who would understand why i am so Pumped.
  14. Grixby is in the same position as the WR to me. He will definitely fair better with Bowman on the field, but if Jones improves or Murillo is the real deal then i hope they play simply because it makes us better. If someone steps up and plays well we would be a better team, than if we have to put Grixby out there. I dont think he sucks, its just that he isnt going to get all that much better where as Jones and Murillo have way more upside. We can only hope one of them chooses to use it
  15. I didnt forget Purify he was autamatically included. I am saying the other guys need to step up in addition to MOPURE
  16. The Wide Recievers, Can Henry,Holt,Paul, and Brooks step up. If they can we will be awesome offensively. If they cannot, leaving Swift and Petersen to run routes then we will be average offensively. We have a QB that can stretch the field and keep the D honest BUT, we must have WR that can do the same
  17. You gotta love Petersen. That being said, I agree he should not play. Its not that he hasnt done some great things for us, but if Holt, Henry, Paul, Brooks cant beat him out then we have problems. These are supposed to be top recruits for us and if they cannot step up and beat out Swift, Petersen, and Erickson then our cupboard is very bare. Taller, stronger, and faster WR are needed to make this offense work to its fullest potential. Life sucks because sometimes things (or Wide Recievers) we have come to know and trust get overrun by other things (or Wide Receivers) For all they have done for us they should be thanked but if they arent as good as the others then there should be no special treatment or preference. If the others are better then they must sit. Its simple I see a lot of people whine and hope and pray for championship caliber teams but when you start talking about replacing starters and/or contributors with better players, meaning the starter/contibutor will not see time then people go in the tank. Facts are, if Petersen, Swift, and Erickson are in our WR rotation then we are NOT going to be as good of team as we would like
  18. an agree with you for sure. I, as most on here well know, am a big non believer in Ruud
  19. What are you talking about tackles around the shoulders, COME ON HE IS AWESOME. LOL JUST KIDDING. HE doesnt even tackle above the shoulders. At least 80% of all tackles he is credited for are pile ons from behind. he has never stood one person up or blew up a ball carrier. NOT ONCE IN HIS ENTIRE TIME IN HIS CAREER AT NEBRASKA
  20. I have no monopoly either. For some reason I just love to argue. My wife hates that about me. I love Zach, he was great here. I will forever be grateful for what he accomplished. I love Callahan for what he is doing here. I just think it is bogus when people say cally cant coach because look at our second half struggles. There is way more to it than that. we all (me too) want to make everything a black and white issue when in fact there are several shades of grey to all things. I think Taylors lack of pure skills made our offense somewhat predictable. I think Taylors drive and desire took us places we didnt belong which gives him major props. I think Taylors shortcomings cost us a few games, yet his heart and brains (alone) won us a few. It just ranckles me to hear people bash on Cally. He has done a tremendous job in turning a bare (completely bare) cupboard into a pantry full of talent. He has won us some games with his coaching and lost us a few with his stubborness also. I truly think this coming year is the big one. I believe we are twice as good on the defensive side (even with the loss of the front four). I believe we have a significantly better offense due in part to maturity and improvement of the line, better more athletic options at WR, (just my opinion but a better all around RB with Lucky) and a QB that can make every throw in the book with some mobility. If next year we see the same predictability and some other stuff then i will become a doubter. I just dont think we will
  21. If you think Zach Taylors numbers were due in large part to him and his wonderful athletic brilliance as opposed to the schemes and offense put in by Callahan, ur foolish. If Mr. Taylor was so damn good there would be talk about him and the NFL, but as it stands now he will be lucky to get drafted and to even make a roster. Scouts, not me, say he cant run, he doesnt have a good enough arm to make the necessary throws. Keller can do both. Oklahoma, Taylor had to throw, he was awful. Texas not so good, Auburn just as bad. We were sixth in rushing because they geared up to stop our run. We were fourth in passing because we threw so much. There is no point in arguing. You are going to skew all thoughts, rationale, and stats to side with you and that is fine its your opinion. Mine is different, i dont think Taylor was very good, and next year you will see a whole different offense without the second half struggles. When that happens you can come on here and say YES Cally learned how to coach and I CAN SAY, YES see what happens when you have a good QB, it will never be settled. Finally i think you are closer to being full of $hit than me. Love ya though, after all you are a Husker Fan
  22. i agree i dont care where they play. i differ in the who, as long as (assuming everyone is healthy) Dillard Octo Mckeon are on the field i am good. If rumors are true that our Defensive coaches were in Auburn talking about Defense then i dont see how Octo (if Healthy) is off the field. Auburn uses undersized LB with speed, and if they let him Octo is the best playmaker we have. Ruud is a fan favorite and will still get time but in all honesty, you must admit that if everyone is healthy then ruud isnt one of the best 3. I think it will look like this honestly Will - Octo Sam - McKeon Mike - Dillard
  23. Steve isn't God and doesn't need to be contacted I agree 100%, Just like us FANS arent GOD and we dont need to be contacted, kept in the loop, or told about any and all things involved with the program
  24. He certainly was, and it was deserved, i only hope Taylor is an honest and upstanding person. If he is then he will let Cally keep the award on his mantel about 9 months out of the year, because Cally's SCHEMES AND OFFENSE, are what won the award for Taylor. And Yes, 30+pts per game will equal a lot of victories, even with coz Wow Cally is good, He turned an avg player into Big 12 offensive player of the year. Just imagine what he will do with a truly talented QB
