  1. While I tend to agree with you, folks were saying largely the same thing about Pat Witt this time last year. Lots can happen between now and then. i hear you but i see this as different. Witt wasn't the incumbent and was scared of Zac from the word go and wanted some assurances. Here the situation is different in that Zac is the incumbent and is not fighting for a job but rather fighting to keep the job. Also, i don't see him transferring like Witt. I just don't see CG or Spano being able to overtake him.
  2. Zac Lee will be starting . This is a situation we all better start to accept now so that feelings aren't hurt come next fall
  3. AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHGAWD I LOVE ALL THINGS HUSKER AND ALL FANS HUSKER BUT THIS IS GETTING OLD. LUCKY IS VERY GOOD. CALLY AND CO KNOW MORE ABOUT THIS THAN WE DO AND UNTIL HE GOT DINGED UP HE WAS AHEAD OF BJAX. Why do you think Bjax bolted? the writing was on the wall. He couldnt beat out a healthy lucky at the start of the year. At the end of the year when his hand healed he couldnt get back on the field cuz Lucky was healthy again. Lucky will have a MONSTER YEAR barring injury. There seems to be so much pissing and moaning about lucky. HE WILL BE JUST FINE. BJAX ISIN THE NFL MAKING MILLIONS BECAUSE OF LUCKY.
  4. I think you have to look at the QB situation like this. Ganz is a great backup but that is it. Witt might be a gem a diamond in the rough but he was not highly touted and he has had one spring. Lee was injured but he comes highly touted wanted by many schools and put up numbers at Juco vs HS level Cally did an interview on espn and when asked about the QB race he said dont count out LEE he mentioned witt later but not like that. Lee beats out Ganz next year and Witt and will hold the job til he leaves then Gabbert will step in. Barring injury i dont believe Ganz or Witt ever start here. Not that this matters but people i know that go to practice on a regular basis say LEE is the real deal
  5. I agree 100% with your assessment. Lucky is going to have a monster year. Our O-Line is going to be better than we even think. An improved line and running game = an improved passing game, plus we have a better QB than last year that can stretch the field, some TE's that can get downfield and a WR corp that is grown due to maturity of both the older guys along with some of the young studs. Our Offense will be really good, NO MORE of those second half lulls because this year teams wont be able to come out in the second half and concentrate on stopping one aspect of the offense. On Defense I believe we will be twice as good as last year. Suh is better than anyone starting last year. Our Ends arent as good but Turner can play. LB will be much better as McKeon will bounce back from a bad year, Ruud is in the best position for him. If either one doesnt cut it Brandenburgh can fill in and Dillard (A STUD) is healthy. Having a focused and healthy Octavien is a HUGE HUGE HUGE difference add the fact that Coz is putting him in a position to create havoc and make plays, Our LB corps is much better. In the D-Backfield Jones will be much improved (HE WILL PLAY ON SUNDAYS) Bowman will be back at some point, Murillo is very good and Grixby has experience. Shanle isnt on the team so that is an improvement already but Asante is going to be a big time player this year and if Wilson is pushing Green then that only means we will have better Safeties. I like Green and think his move to FS will be a huge improvement if he plays over wilson. Due to our better D-Backfield and a better LB corp that will create more havoc, our DE will have better numbers than last year even though they arent as good. We will have the ability to send more people and play at a much faster pace on the Defensive side of the ball.
  6. Farley and Demario Williams were truly 205 at the most. Culbert is bigger than them.
  7. i think Keith Williams will be starting instead of Christiansen (SP?) maybe not at first but early. Mo will be the starting X maybe not the first game or 2 but after that Thenarse needs to stay at safety. Next year our safeties will be him and Asante and that would be sick Culbert needs to move to Will with Murillo Jones and Grixby and hopefully Bowman i think Jones and Bowman will play. Either way it gives us the ability to play a solid nickel and dime as opposed to last year. I would love to see Pierre Allen step up
  8. The State Patrol is not always right. I got yanked over for suspicion of DUI. 2 cars show up and block me in and tell me they are pulling me over because they think i am driving drunk. its 23 degrees out and i have on flip flops and shorts. I am stopped on a hill and have to do all those crazy field tests. I must of passed the tests which upset them so they put me in the car and had me take a breathalizer. They obviously didnt like the results because they made me take it again 2 more times. They still werent satisfied so they made both passengers in my car take a breathalizer as well and then let me go but made a passenger drive. The funny thing is i hadnt had a drink in days let alone that night but both passengers had at least 2 drinks with in the previous hour when we had dinner. So they are not always right, in fact sometimes when they have suspicions they wont let them go even though they are proven wrong
  9. I agree with aim. We as fans tend to lean towards the players we see therefore Lee gets lost due to his injury. This kid is a very highly touted guy that has a big arm but better yet can run ( i believe its high 4.5 or low 4.6) that is an intangible that you cant teach. He was injured when recruited and that says something. Inured or not BC wanted him here. I think its keller this year and Lee for 2 then we'll see. I dont think Ganz ever starts unless out of necessity and i dont think Witt starts either. If im wrong good just my 2 cents
  10. skers, best post yet! BC is the coach, he will have far more facts than we do. I too trust him to make the right decision and whatever that decision is i stand by it. I have full confidence in BC in all respects and trust him to do the right things. If Mo is gone then i trust that BC has a legitimate fallback plan. I trust the players he has brought in and although MO is very good, i almost guarantee we have someone who will be better behind him, this just might give them the chance earlier than expected. I still believe Henry is going to be a stud and if MO is gone then Henry might get his chance a season earlier.
  11. You know, I have lived and breathed Husker football for 33 years. I know what it is about. I am just tired of hearing about this and posted this to change the mood. What he did is not funny nor is it good. Should he be punished to some degree, Yes? I was merely pointing out the fact that half the Husker nation wants to win no matter what and it seems like most of the other half want the death sentence for this guy. 2 games is plenty as long as he follows the rules set forth by BC. As for the bar fight alone, i dont believe any suspension was in order. Kids fight. With the addition of the DUI, yes something needs done and in all seriousness I hope BC does something. 2 games is a lot and any more would be a travesty in my opinion.
  12. good point, sometimes my logic sucks. i still say let him play, hes our best WR and we need to win, he really hasnt done anything we havent done. miss the first two at the most but USC he needs to play i am greedy and want a win
  13. Why should he be kicked off the team. What is he? A Student - Athlete right? So should we kick every college student out of school for being in downtown bars drinking. He screwed up, YES, but why does he need kicked off the team. Send him to AA classes, anger management classes, but kicking him off the team is the worst thing you can do to him. He shouldnt miss any games. If he goes to his classes and reports to BC and follows the rules from here on out why should he miss. A DUI on the record is bad enough. Get him help, help him change his ways and let the punishment that the legal system is going to hand out be enough. Think back to when we were 21, i will guarantee that you did some dumb s.h.i.t. Well so did he, yet now all the sudden we want to crucify him. Should you drive after drinking, of course not. Beat up a guy in a bar, no but its college. He didnt do anything that (probably) most of us on here, most husker fans, havent done at some point. What is next, get a DUI miss 3 weeks of work unpaid. A better punsishment would be no time missed as long as he follows the guidelines set forth by BC, but make him a non scholarship player. Take the scholarship away, thats punishment. Give the kid a chance to continue to better his life but make him do it on his own. The way you guys want it is "let's not play him but still pay for his education. He is sooooooooo bad he should be off the team or miss 2000 games or whatever. Make him earn his education, take him off of scholarship, but let him play. Simply cuz that is what he does and that is the best way to help him become an outstanding citizen down the road.
  14. I agree, What race? This was never a race. Ganz has been here 4 years. To just go and name Keller the starter could have had severe consequences. but,........................ make it look like a race, give it the feel of a race, pretend its a race and everyones happy. Keller was, is, and will be the starter. Never Was A Race
  15. I am going tix or no tix. If anyone has tix for sale please give me a holla. My 10 year old lives in the area and i am flying in and taking him to the game.
  16. What do you expect from the 07 team. I personally expect the team to improve from year to year, with this year being no different. I see 11-2 , 10-3 at worst with Cally finally getting that "big" win. As for improvement, I think this team will be significantly better than last years. QB - Kellers not Taylor, he is a more athletic, stronger armed, more skilled player - improvement RB - Lucky is not a downgrade for sure and has the ability to far surpass anything BJax did. Glenn will be a nice fill in and situational runner - equal to improved WR - Same WR with more experience, plus some young guns ready to contribute, plus Niles Paul. Experience alone makes this group improved, add a better QB that can make all the throws and this position is solid. - Improved OL - Again, experience alone makes this group better. Murtha moving to the Right side finally seems to put him in a comfort zone. Nicks is a beast and Byford has really improved. The guard have a lot of depth with experience. This line has potential to be the best in several years. IMPROVED DL. - I truly think we are better inside on the line. Suh is awesome, much better than the 2 starters last year. Steinkuhler, barfield, the beast, and the new additions make this group very good IMO. the ends are down obviously, but Turner is a better player potentially than Moore. I think the ends will hold their own due to improvements in the rest of the D - overall Weaker than Last year. LB - McKeon should bounce back after an off year and return to the 05 McKeon. Ruud moving to Sam fits him better and also allows Octo to be on the field at all times. This group has experience and will be more athletic than in past years. Octo has big time playmaking ability, something we didnt have last year. Brandenburgh can spell each position without losing too much. This group should be better simply due to Octo being on the field the whole game. Overall - Slightly Improved. Ruud is still on the field and McKeon is not a star. DB - Shanle is gone. We are automatically better. Wilson has improved to the point where he is getting a shot at starting. Asante will be a star someone that opposing WR are afraid of. Green gets to finally play his most natural position where his speed can be utilized. Our Safeties are much improved. at the CB position it gets hairy. Grixby is a great athlete but too small. He once again has gone from a Nickel back to a starter. Jones should be much more in tune with the speed of D1 football. Murillo has played well so far and having the spring to play will help him immensely. It sounds like Bowman will make it back and he is a superstar. Overall Slightly Improved due to a little more depth and experience. Thenarse helps in any spot if we can find him a place on the field Special teams. - Improved only cuz it cant be worse really. Kunalic (sp?) will help simply cuz we will be able to attempt 40 yard FG now I really only see 2-3 losses even with our schedule. Any more and it will be disappointing to me. This analysis obviously excludes potential injuries etc. Lets hear your thoughts.
  17. yup they are, I still think he sucks but wish him the best. As someone said earlier he is a Husker.
  18. Just saw a full mock draft on Fox Sports and they have Andrew Shanle getting drafted in the 6th round. This may not be news to you but it is to me. There is no way, he quite possibly might be one of the worst football players at his position ever to don a college uniform. I THINK IM GONNA PUKE
  19. I agree 100%. What i saw yesterday in my opinion proved that Keller was the better QB Lucky, can and will be a fulltime back. He looked great and will be awesome this year. Octavien finally lived up to the hype. Him and Suh were by far the most impressive on the D. Octo was everywhere creating all kinds of problems. I hate to do this but I WAS WRONG. I spent a good part of the game watching Nate Swift. My feelings about him were off. He is much better than i gave him credit for. While he is not Purify, he is pretty good. I still hope the young guys step up and was hoping to see them shine yesterday, but they quite honestly never had a chance. The white team QB play was atrocious to put it nicely. I did think Chris Brooks played really well. So to all of you i must shout out I WAS WRONG ABOUT SWIFT It looked to me like Green was limping so maybe they were just being cautious
  20. After reading the Journal Star today, maybe swift "the best WR on the team" should be forgotten. Apparently he cant catch a cold let alone the ball. His position coach calls him out in the paper. Wow i guess all of us posters dont know it all.
  21. didnt say i bought it just repeating what was said on 1480 by a guy from bigredreport. That could very well just be his opinion.
  22. man what did i do to deserve that. I wasnt sure either, just heard it and wanted to pass it along. I guess only posts can be put on here if husker500 approves them
  23. 1. Keller will take the initial snaps with the first team. 2. Williams move to guard will be permanent and that this is a bad time for christiansen to get hurt because he might have a hard time overtaking Williams come fall. 3. Ganz will start with the second string taking snaps.
  24. Barry Turner is the starter, Sievers is the guy that will be in on passing downs only. Hurt or not, Turner will start over this guy. Turner can play the run and pass. I think it will be a great benefit to have sievers in on obvious passing downs with his speed. that will enable Turner to go one on one because they will have to account for Sievers. Run plays and mid to short yardage is not a worry because he (sievers)isnt going to be on the field
