  1. its simple logic. If the more experience player is playing well i would agree, but there is no way you can say with a straight face that Thenarse or Culbert could have done any worse than Shanle Thenarse may have been getting beat in practice but has the ability to make one (1) play , Grixby got beat every play and didnt make a single play, there for it couldnt have been any worse only potentially better. Ruud, if you honestly think Ruud is good there may be no help for you, hell against Mizzou we played Culbert at a hybrid spot and he played better than Ruud ever did. He is fundamentally sound fine but if you are in the right place all the time but cant get off of blocks and make plays what the hell is the point. Petersen and swift are nice players, but if we are recruiting like we are supposed to have been then Henry, Holt, Paul, Purify, and another athlete should be ahead of them. catching the ball and getting open are nice but not if it takes twice as long to get open. also you cannot stretch the field with them. You act as though i dislike the player personally, i DONT, they just shouldnt play. If Terrell Farley's playing time was judged by whether he was fundamentally sound and in the right place HE WOULD HAVE NEVER PLAYED. Do me a favor, watch tapes of the good Defenses out there and find me one LB that arm tackles only, find me one player that Ruud would play in front of from USC, Ohio st, Michigan, LSU, Auburn, Florida,Miami, if you can ill eat my hat YOU CANT! MEDIOCRITY ENSCONCHED AROUND NICE GUYS (LEGACIES) IS NOT ACCEPTABLE. RUUD IS A GOOD KID GET OVER IT, HE IS NOT TALENTED ENOUGH TO PLAY AND IF HE IS THEN WELL IT SAYS ALOT ABOUT OUR RECRUITING.
  2. halleluia thank you someone that can see the forest for the trees
  3. also did anyone ever consider there to be more than meets the eye. Maybe BJax saw the writing on the wall. If Callahan is any sort of coach he would not play BJax next year simply cuz he started this year. Stop and think, there was no valid reason to not play Bjax in the bowl other than Lucky was playing well. Maybe Bjax realize Lucky is improving and that his time may be significantly less next year. That being the case it makes the most sense to go to the nfl now. what kind of stock would he have if he doesnt see the field much next year
  4. I couldnt agree more the separation between BJax and Lucky was miniscule at best and the upside is far greater with Lucky. I think Wilson has a lot of potential. I hope you see a major improvement and then a 2 back rotation. 3-4 backs is just too much.
  5. People all over have varying degrees of like and dislike for Callahan and staff. Everyone, it seems, is waiting to see some change or improvement so that they can make their best judgement. Well........................ Here is mine. I think a big sign of Callahan and staff's abilities will come this year by simply seeing who the starting lineup is. If Callahan does what is necessary you should see returning starters Grixby, Jones, Ruud, as well as players with significant playing time, Swift, Petersen, Nunn all on the bench. If Callahan does not make these changes that will say more to me than any play called or defesive adjustment made. We have significantly more talented players at each spot that the aforementioned players occupy and if Championship Football is what Callahan wants then he has some tough decisions ahead. Personally i dont think he has the stones. I think Ruud and the rest will somehow be on the field every down in which case i will lose all confidence in this staff. These decisions will tell us the direction that Callahan is trying to go. To win the Big games you have to play the best people. Just a know-it-alls ( who knows nothing) opinion
  6. yeah 100% Bradley was the most overrated player on D IMO Mckeon would fill his role much better Dillard is stronger faster and brings way more wood to the Mike than Mckeon Ruud is one of the softest LB in the country, when healthy you know what OCTO can do .................... see Texas game
  7. Got this off of the red sea scrolls. A student talking to Dillard was told by Dillard that it is looking like next year will be as follows Will - Octo Mike - Dillard Sam - McKeon Dont shoot the messenger just relaying It would be great though get ruud out get more speed and better tackling our LB would be 100% improved
  8. HALLELUAH HALLELUAH,HALLELUAH HALLELUAH
  9. swift lets see ill agree with you except for more Pt ... if paul, holt, henry, brooks are not better than him then we have problems. great route running doesnt always equate to getting open, not when it takes 4 hours, 7 minutes, and 13 seconds to run a 15 yd in
  10. one thing to remember about purify........he isnt the sharpest tool in the shed. i dont want to name drop but a former coach works with me and he visits practice weekly almost daily and he has said more than once that purify just doesnt really get it. hopefully with another year he will
  11. Gamecocks you're allright except for the migraine you give me....... lets see Gamecock on a huskerboard with a duke logo stop it man ur gonna kill me lol
  12. i hope nunn sees left bench, hardy sees middle bench, petersen sees left bench, and swift sees behind the bench
  13. WHY IS THAT you have to back it up with reasoning, logic, or facts
  14. We talk of purify and paul and holt and rightfully so, but my bold prediction is that Will Henry will soon become a household name. 6 foot 6 can run and jump and the word is that he is Keller's favorite target in practice. that is my bold prediction for next year. lets hear yours
  15. more so than Taylor but he is not a scrambler by any means. the big difference will be arm strength and leadership. he will be able to thread the ball between the safety and CB 25 yds downfield. he is also a very vocal leader and doesnt accept mediocrity. I also believe he is just a better QB and you wont see near as many sacks because he wont hold on to the ball for 98.7 seconds.
  16. and fire the womens volleyball coach also. yeah he won a NC but he lost the first game of each match and that is just not acceptable. coach cook should go and should have gone last year when he lost the NC.
  17. First, we all want to defend our huskers but we need to see the truth for what it is........ Our Second Half problems were not due to lack of scripted plays. They were due to the opposing coaches saying hey, you are not gonna run on us anymore. Taylor is going to have to beat us. Teams put 8 and 9 people in the box in the second halves against us and Taylor simply could not get it done. Purify is the only legitimate receiver we had playing. teams would play cover 2 but roll the safety over and bracket (double team) purify. leaving swift, nunn, and petersen one on one. they did this because they knew that their DB's were simply better than those receivers. you cant throw the ball with regularity to a receiver that is double covered ITS FOOTBALL 101
  18. I would like to see some changes on the defensive side of the ball. I was very adamant about 8 weeks in to the season that Thenarse and Octo should be in the game. The fact that Ruud and Grixby and shanle were continuously put out there time and again to screw things up is a problem. MY CONCERN FOR NEXT YEAR is that the coaches making the decisions will not have the balls to sit ruud down and put octo in , and to sit Grixby down and put murillo in, and to sit green down and put thenarse in. i fear they will go with the old seniority mentality
  19. How , besides USC are those teams better than us? Texas isnt that good , and I wasnt impressed with Auburn. We gave them the game with our pathetic play calling. What has happened to Husker fans? Now we think of ourselves like Oregon State or Florida State. they just are. we need to accept that we are not there yet.
  20. How did he lose us games? The 3 teams you mentioned are better than us. USC - if we try to go toe to toe with them we get murdered, he did what was needed. In fact i think Cally and his play calling are what kept us in the game. Texas - nunn not callahan fumbled. it was once again his coaching that had us in the game (REMEMBER THE TRICK PLAYS) Auburn - not his best game but hey its only one
  21. Ahhh the wonderful numbers debate. IMO there is more to it than numbers. Some of the QB's you mention are far supieror to Mr. Taylor. During the coarse of a season they are asked to throw many different throws than others. The true test is this. If Taylor was asked to make the same throws as Henne or Booty his numbers would not be close to the same, HE SIMPLY CANNOT MAKE THOSE THROWS. He had a great year but lets be honest, he simply is not a great QB. We are biased because he is a husker but he is not great. He probably wont get drafted and has probably taken his last snap as a football player.
  22. all of the fire callahan people. YOU ARE CRAZY, and here is why. Solich ran us into the ground, he didnt recruit athletes. our cupboard was bare when he left. 1. Defense - Greene, Grixby, Shanle, Ruud, Mckeon, Bradley, Moore, Carriker, Cryer - all Solich guys. Defense 07 - Asante(upgrade), Bowman(upgrade), Murillo(upgrade), Dillard(upgrade), hopefully Octo(upgrade), Turner(equal to Moore IMO) Suh(upgrade over cryer), Thenarse over Green maybe hopefully(would be an upgrade) - All Callahan guys 2. Offense - Taylor while a saint for our program, average at best, was what we had and needed for transition to WCO. the line all young and improving, Purify(a stud that will get better), Petersen and swift just ok, the RB very good and will be better next year. Offense 07 - Keller/Lee (definite upgrades), Henry(will be a stud)Holt,Paul,Brooks(all upgrades over swift, petersen, and nunn), The line will be better and add Burkes and Three stud RS Frosh look out - the point on offense is these are now all Callahan players. As Husker fans we all expect the best, however, it takes time to get what you need. We got Swift and Nunn and Taylor and others on short notice. They helped us get to where we are at today. over the last 2 years Cally and Co. have really hit the recruiting trail and we are now loaded with talent. REMEMBER 3 YEARS AGO WE LACKED TALENT NOW WE ARE LOADED. Coaches can only do as much as their talent allows. Coaches also recruit and if YOU THINK RUNNING OFF AND FINDING ANOTHER COACH IS THE ANSWER, you are mistaken. Cally is puttin together a team that is loaded with talent. You cannot, as a coach, rebuild in 3 short years. If next year we go 9-5, i may then start to change my tune but until it is proven that Cally cannot win with real talent you naysayers should just shut your trap. What Cally has done in the 3 years he has been here is truly awesome. WE COULD STILL HAVE SOLICH FOR GODS SAKE. I truly believe next year is the true turning point in the system. There are very few coaches, especially solich, that could have put together a class like we have for next year. Finally, I have a great Idea. All you fire Cally nutjobs, get off this site, go to ohiobobcatfootball.com and start posting there. YOU DONT DESERVE TO CALL YOURSELVES A PART OF.....................HUSKER NATION
