If this was true then why have all of the NFL Draft pick (with the exception of B Jax) been Frank's kids? Does "being done" include when Frank was coaching for a National Championship in 2001? Are you Bill Callahan? You sure sound like he did after the Cotton Bowl. Like Stew Bradley said, "Don't tell the players were are not a top 10 team." You must have not been a Husker fan for long. This program was in okay shape in the 90's, winning championships with "subpar" talent, graduating kids, academic All-Americans, Rhodes Scholars. (Cue the tired old Christian Peter/Lawrence Phillips CBS takes) I agree with you on this point, but which one is it, are we at the top level recruiting or are we well below the top teams. You are contradicting yourself bud. Ask Boise State about that. You also have to know how to play the game, with or without the marbles. That's called good coaching. At some point all the talk about recruiting, West Coast Offense, "NFL Style Defense," "closing the gap" blah, blah, blah, needs to stop. Give us something. Winning the worst division in major college football on a down year doesn't mean anything. Do something more than average 5 losses a year and actually finish in the top 20 and your argument might have merit.

i don't expect to live in the past, but i do expect the current coaches and adminstration to embrace the tradtions and solidify the contributitions of past players/coaches that helped start and make the tradition/program the huge success as it is now known. this is just an extention of successful recruiting, you show that you care and retain the favoritism of the past alumni and players, as they are the mouth-piece and promoters of continued successful recruiting, period. to ignore them, exclude them and not make them feel really welcome, is to negate their future influence and support of the program. example, ever watch a USC or Ohio State game and see the former greats on the sidelines? you think that doesn't have a huge effect on future recruiting? this is another example of a huge asset, possibly being squandered by a guy who is used to getting players through the draft or free agency at the pro level. on the college level all you have is your school's reputation and history of success. when you have a great tradition like ours, you should be smart enough to take advantage of it constantly and showcase the past greats as well as recruiting the next ones. being "exclusive" does nothing for your program. i think Ped especially needs to re think the way he "projects" our program as we seldom see any of our past big names on the sidelines or promoting the school. i just don't see this changing and i am saddened by the perception that is being projected by the current administration. If that is where you get the majority of your Husker information it's no wonder you act like you do. You bring nothing to this board and your constant negativity is really pathetic. I'm all for differing viewpoints, but you dont' have a viewpoint, you have an agenda. It's obvious and it's pathetic. Sence you know everything there is about the program why don't you tell me where I should get "real" Husker information. Forgive me from getting some of my info from the independent, impartial media. Maybe I should only use the information supplied to us by the athletic department and the Husker Sports Network because they don't have an agenda or credibility issues right? I do have an agenda-talking the Huskers. I know this may shock you but everything is not perfect with the program. Sometimes we have to accept it. Just because you don't like talking about it doesn't mean that it's not so. Hiding from it doesn't make it go away.

I'm sure you do and to quote Jack Nicholson (in his response to writing a book from the viewpoint of a woman) "I wrote as if I were a man and removed all sensiblity and accountability." I can't comment on Callahan's intent, but those charitable organizations and foundations he "participates" in are part of his contract. As for former coaches and players, trips to the hospitals to visit with sick kids is something that has been going on ever since I can remember (25+ years). The former coaches has foundations that they participated in too so to steal a line from you "Get over yourself."

"Unsportsmanlike Conduct" reported that Keller isn't well liked by the team and that they would rather have Ganz start. Keller is a little too "take charge" while Ganz is one of the boys. If that is the case then it's no wonder why we can't finish in the top 25. If you don't like someone gettting on your ass a little bit then you are soft.

If there were more 1 vs 1 maybe we could beat someone other than the K Stats and ISU's of the world. You get to be the best by playing the best. That's why we were so good in the 90's.

I agree that there is no personal relationship between then but they are all supposed to be Huskers, a family. The former players certainly are. This is one of the dumbest posts I have ever read. My IQ dropped about 75 points for reading it. Without the committment, hardwork, and success of the former players there would be no skyboxes, no Steve Pederson, University of Nebraska Athletic Director, no Bill Callahan, Head Coach-University of Nebraska, etc. While they may not have to roll out the red carpet for every one, they should still be considered part of the Husker family and treated as such. If there still is a Husker family.

Clester Johnson was on the radio earlier today and mentioned that there are lots of different things that have been done and that many former players are upset but he was not too specific. One thing that he mentioned personally was that when he goes down to the athletic department instead of them saying welcoming former players they have a "What are you doing here?" attitude. He mentioned that Tommie Frazier (a guy who happened to work under Pederson) mentioned that the only time former players hear from the athletic department is when they need money (donations and appearances) and they don't even pretend to be concerned about the players personally. Also mentioned that Tom Osborne never received an invite to the athletic department's event until it became known that he was attending the "Real Husker" event and he said that he never received an invite to the other event. An a-hole caller ripped Clester and all the other former players to which Clester mentioned that you can't just have a "get onboard and get over it" attitude because without the former players coaches and staff there would be no program as we know it.

It sure would be nice if they could figure this out in year four. The coverage teams suck too. The special teams as a whole have been bad for the last 3 years.

Sweet move by the coaching staff having Lucky in late in a meaningless scrimmage to possibly get lost for the year. As thin as we are at RB that is a stupid move.

These guys are entitled to their opinions. Obviously there are problems with the administration and coaches. These players are real Huskers who poured their blood sweat and tears into this program and what they say means something. It used to be a family, now its a program. You two-faced fair weather fans who are ripping the former players should be ashamed of yourselves.
