  1. I was basically saying that there are some who are trashing him on the boards and calling him "traitor" and stuff like that and it could certainly influence him. It certainly wouldn't be beneficial for him to hear and read stuff like that. He's young and I'm sure that stuff like that stings a bit. Is it enough to turn him away from us, probably not. But, all things being equal, it might be enough to sway a kid who isn't absolutely sure where he wants to go.
  2. Anyone know what days he will be here?
  3. If anything could and would influence him right now I would think it would be all the whiners on message boards who rip into him for opening it back up. The ones who are being critical of him for having second thoughts need to be patient and let the kid make his choice. Period.
  4. Rivals has a feautred video highlight of Whitmore from the Texas 7 on 7 where he apparently had a very good showing. Check it out.
  5. Please. Stop trying to make excuses for this kid or cut him slack he hasn't earned. He's been at three high schools in less than two years and as far as anyone knows, he hasn't shown a willingness to do anything but cause problems wherever he goes. Do you know how hard it is to get booted out of Omaha Central? David Horne rubbed his .... ahem.... "privates" on a girl and was allowed to stay there. As for not caring what I have to say about it, no problem. Keep your blinders on about this kid as long as you want. He may be young, with a chance to mature, but it just isn't clicking for this kid. Man, you act like I personally hate this kid or something. I'd love to see this kid turn it around and prove me wrong, however, I am a true Husker fan and I hope that the coaching staff steers clear of this guy. he hasn't got kicked out of either school You're right, he didn't get kicked out of either school. Just like Richard Nixon didn't get kicked out of the oval office.
  6. Listen guys, he's a 17-18 year old kid. He's not obligated to go to NU. I personally think it's a very mature decision of his to do this now instead of later. Is he having second thoughts? Maybe. Either way, it's his choice to make and no one has the right to be anything but disappointed if he changes his mind.

OK, I guess I must have forgotten that you are the subject matter expert on this kid. Like I said in my post, if he was acting in the way you described at the 7 on 7 tournament, then I'm sure he'll pay the consequences. I don't know how my post somehow makes you question my user name, but your posts definitely make me question your's. What kind of father would throw some kid under the bus at 16 years of age? I'm sure the coaching staff will take everything into account on this kid, just as they did with Ronnell Grixby, and I'll support their decision, whether to recruit him, or not. Get over yourself. I was merely making it known what type of reputation this kid has allready established with just about every single person in the know in high school sports in Omaha. Don't take my word for it, ask around.

  9. They don't seem like the type of coaching staff that would put up with too much crap regardless of skill level. That being said, I think Vondrae will be just fine. Update on Tostensen. I was told by an official from the 7 on 7 tournament down at NU that Tostensen showed a tremendously poor work ethic at the 7 on 7 games. I was told that there were 5-6 interceptions of balls intended for him that he didn't even try for because they weren't perfect throws. He showed no interest in turning from receiver to db on underthrown balls, showed a penchant to lag on plays, seemed disinterested overall. I was also told that there were numerous players (some on his own team) with less talent that clearly outplayed him because of his lackadaisical attitude. I hate to say it, but..... I might have told you so.
  10. Here is an article on this kid from Scout.com RIPPING IT UP By Allen Wallace National Recruiting Editor Posted Jul 1, 2007 Although he's done with his camps after having been to Texas A&M, Oklahoma and Oklahoma State, K.J. Williams says he'd still like to take a few unofficial visits this summer. One school he wants to visit for sure is Nebraska. "I love their history," Williams said. "They were a powerhouse and just need a couple more key players to get back on top again..." K.J. Williams is being recruited for both tight end and defensive end and says he doesn't have a preference for either position. "I have fun on both sides," said the 6-foot-4, 234-pound, three-star recruit from North High School in Norman, Okla. "I want to see where I can be more successful in college. Basically, I'll know which position I want to play after my senior season and that will help me decide on which school I'll go to." Williams (Kenneth Jermone), ranked No. 20 in the Midlands by Scout.com, has 10 scholarship offers and said he favors Texas A&M slightly over Oklahoma State, Nebraska, Iowa State, Missouri and Oklahoma. All of his favorites have offered except for Oklahoma, even though he attended the Sooner camp. "Oklahoma is only about three minutes from my house," Williams said. "They just got my transcript last week and I think they'll offer me. The camp went good and I like the program a lot. They are a top team every year." He also attended camps at A&M and Oklahoma State, both of which are recruiting him for tight end. "A&M uses the tight end a lot and they have a great offensive system," he said. "They produce great players every year and I think I did really well at the camp. I was there with a couple teammates and we really ripped it up. "I also really like (cornerbacks) coach Van Malone and (head) coach Dennis Franchione," Williams said. "They are cool coaches and I like that they took time to talk to me at the camp. They made me feel wanted." Although he's done with his camps, Williams says he'd still like to take a few unofficial visits this summer. One school he wants to visit for sure is Nebraska. "I love their history," he said. "They were a powerhouse and just need a couple more key players to get back on top again." The schools that are recruiting Williams for defensive end are Iowa State, Missouri, Kansas State and TCU. All of those schools have already offered as well as Texas Tech, New Mexico and Tulsa. Williams has only lived in Oklahoma for a year and grew up in Baton Rouge, La., where he became a huge LSU fan. "I love LSU football as a kid," he said. "They are recruiting me, but I only get letters from them. They haven't talked with me about a scholarship or anything." He finished his junior season with 66 tackles and five sacks on defense. On offense he had three catches for 53 yards and one touchdown. Williams says he can bench 315 pounds, squat 480 and run forty in 4.75. He also has a 33-inch vertical jump. "I'm able to use my size well," Williams said. "I have good footwork and get to the backfield fast and cause problems. I'm physical and like to slam people to the ground, but I want to work on fighting off double teams and getting off blocks better. I also want to improve my blocking on offense." Williams reports a 2.6 core GPA, but has not taken the SAT or ACT yet. Sounds like we have at least a shot with this kid. I hope we make the most of it.
  11. If he ever gets on the field. The Patriots are set at WR even without Tostensen. They have two very good juniors to be who make it easier for a coaching staff to draw a hard line with a headcase. I hope the kid shapes up and gets his head straight. He is a physical force.
  12. No way. Okafor is big and man is he fast. He is so raw too that the staff in Lincoln will have a huge impact on his effectiveness when he gets there. I saw a few holes in his game when I saw him play but they were all technique problems. Athletically he is a beast. The two are different kinds of backs, but I would rather have the guy with speed AND size. Okafor is underrated. He made some really good players for Millard North last year look like Jr. High kids.
  13. Maybe they don't think he's gonna make it to D1 because of the off the field problem that led to hi NU offer being revoked.
  14. I have seen the kid play and I must say I thought he was awesome. He consistently got open over the middle in the 15-25 yard range and climbed the ladder well to reach balls thrown high. I was surprised the first time I saw his face picture at how chunky he looked, I expected him to be a lot more athletic looking. This Kansas commit could be one where they told him he needed to commit because they had other TE's offered and he didn't want to lose the offer. Perhaps he would go N if they offered later in the game.
  15. Boy, if we could get him here for a game (USC?) he would surely commit!!!
  16. Perhaps that was a bit unfair, but it doesn't look like the kid has the character to end up as a highly productive college player at this point. He may need to go the JUCO way before he matures enough.
  17. i go 2 school with him at south, and he is a pretty nice kid. he needs to put down the grass and he would be fine. if he had the work ethic of ty kildow, he would be amazing, but its going to be awesome next year watching those guys play across from each other. My son goes to south and I know administrators at CP who have said that this kid is a physical freak, but has Randy Moss syndrome. Not just lazy, but with a sense of entitlement who believes that everything should be done for him so all he has to do is show up. He takes plays off when they aren't designed for him and is a bad teammate. He was run out of CP because they were fed up with his attitude. He's got Noel Devine written all over him if you ask me. Last time we had a player like him at NU he got drafted 6th overall by the Rams and is now in prison.
