  1. Also West might be heading the list for dime back if Gomes is moving to safety.
  2. No, only Suh's jersey has been retired not his number. It's just an acknowledgement of his outstanding career at NU. Tommie Frazier had his jersey retired, but players can still wear #15. Only #60 (Tom Novak) and #64 (Bob Brown) are retired numbers. Actually I believe they re-retired #20 in memory of Johnny Rodgers last year. Not sure on that, but Burkhead was 20 in high school and switched to 22, and Kunalic switched to #1. Here's a link to the huskers.com article about it.
  3. Safety spots are wide open for competition, so I wouldn't be too sure about that.

  5. Should be interesting position battles at safety this fall. I think Gomes and Smith will be the guys but we'll see a lot of Thenarse.
  6. My hope is Spano, Martinez, or Washington emerges as a quality backup to Lee, and Green can redshirt this season. That would meet my expectation that QB's need time to develop and not be called on to produce in their first 2 seasons unless injuries demand it. If he does better than that, he'd exceed my expectations.
  7. Based on how the QB's played last year, I'm surprised he didn't get on the field more. I'd say every single QB on the roster has a chance to be the starter, especially this year with all the uncertainty. LW looked decent in the spring game last year after only a dozen practices at QB, so he has that same chance to greatly improve in year 2 that keeps getting mentioned about Cody Green.
  8. Might be part of the reason the base defense is moving to 2 LB's and a nickel back.
  9. Here's a blogger's explanation of the "peso": link Sounds like the base 4-3 with a nickel back in place of the SLB (aka buck LB).
  10. I look at it as the staff has found 20 recruits that could play for us. I think it's much more likely that there 20+ good DL prospects out there than only 5 or 10.
  11. Helu has always been on the verge of making it, but injuries constantly have held him back. B-Jax was a better IB even though he played for Clownahan. But Helu still has a senior year to make a statement.
  12. Likely that means we'll get more sacks, but give up more big plays also.
  13. No offense to Moore, but if he's the backup, our OL is having problems. EVERY lineman should redshirt unless the team really needs them. JMHO.
  14. There's some issue with the DNS, so I've been using the IP address: http://174.123.70.218/
  15. I think this is a huge part of it. We have plenty of options at TE and a lot of questions at WR. This both helps with depth and experience at WR and gets some of the TE buried on the DC into the lineup. I think any or many of the TE are poised for a big year.
  16. in arizona, missouri, kansas, and colorado. Thumbs up to you, sir.
  17. I'd also add that those defenses on the video didn't take good angles. But that's the trouble with highlight videos, we'd need to see a complete game against a decent team to get a real perspective of his talent.
  18. Especially skill players that live 25 miles from Lawrence. I'm not convinced a QB could (or at the very least 'should') play 2 sports at NU. We hear a lot about the complexities of the offense, the terminology, etc. Our most successful QB's under Watson took 2-3 years to become acclimated to the offense, and they were there for practices in the Spring. I'm not saying some prodigy couldn't, but for the regular Joe, 3-4* guy I think it would be an uphill battle...one I'm not sure the coaches should risk the future of the offense on. How do scholarships work for the 2 sport guys? I think Cooper's is a football scholarship, could Bubba be a baseball scholarship and not count against the football team? While I agree with your reasoning, let's not forget John Elway did pretty darn well at Stanford.
  19. Why does Moeller HS sound familiar? Have we gone after kids from there before? Maybe, or it could be Muller HS in Denver? Boulder? We snagged a kid from there this year, right? I think you mean Mullen in Denver. Can't remember who we got from there recently, but that's where Cory Ross went.
  20. Won't play in firefox on linux. Come on, Nike!! Make a site that actually corresponds to internet standards.
  21. Mark me as supporting the small-time Husker fans and not the large corporation. I've already switched my bookmark over to HuskerMax.com
  22. Go read what they were saying when he was at CU. See if it sounds familiar. The fans and media talked repeatedly of seemingly random play calls, bubble screens in 3rd and long situations, etc. The same things we've seen from Watson for years. Naturally, Watson fans point to the Arizona game while coaching at Nebraska and the 2001 CU/NU game while Watson was at CU. However, they ignore the history of mediocrity (at best!) that are generally the hallmarks of his offenses. I think you're actually making my point for me. CU fans thought the grass would be greener after Watson - that turned out not to be true. NU fans like yourself think the grass will be greener if Watson is gone. I simply see more grass. We'll have to wait and see, I guess.
  23. I know a lot of CU fans who used to be happy that Watson left. That was until the next guy sucked much, much more. Fans always think the grass is greener somewhere else.
