  1. I dont mind Herbstreit as much as I hate May. I know hes not on the gameday crew, but he just bashes on Nebraska every chance he gets, even when he doesnt get the chance he makes his own chance. He's also usually lookin to handle usc's marbles. I dont understand what they have against Nebraska, it cant just be bc we win a lot bc they love usc and michigan and all those guys.
  2. Yep, ear infection. This is getting more and more intersting. This guy has some huge offers and is waiting to hear from ohio st. and wisconsin. It looks like he is weighing his options pretty good. It would be great if we locked up our o-line commits before the summer, all being at least four stars.
  3. Haha, LA Husker sounds exactly like me. I think we are going to win every game every year. I honestly think that it is possible to run the table next year. Will it happen I would say no, we will lose two games all year long maybe three including our bowl and the big 12 champinship game, in my opinion. I dont think usc is overrated. They have athlete after athlete, with a pac 10 offense and an sec defense. I was very impressed at the speed and quickness they had last year against us. However more than likely a night game with 80,000 people screaming at the top of their lungs will be a drastic change from anything Booty has ever seen before, along with the several freshmen and sophmores that will be playing. I see us winning that one more than the texas game in texas.
  4. With all this talk about how good our offense is going to be I was thinking about something. I think it is clear that Callahan uses usc as a measuring stick to see where his offense is at, with good reason. With that said and with the players we have how good do you think the offense is going to be next year. Do you guys think that stars come into play here. We have very talented receivers I am not denying that at all. We have a lot of tall physical receivers. However, usc has patrick turner (five star, 6'5) Vidal Hazeleton (6'4, five star) and David Ausberry (6'5, four star) along with some other four stars mixed in there. Comparing that to our best receivers in my opinion we have Maurice Purify (6'4, four star) Menelik Holt (6'3, three star) Chris Brooks (6'2 four star) Will Henry (6'6, three star) Niles Paul (6'2 four star) I know this might ruffle some feathers but where does everyone think we are as an offense compared to the other powers of the nation?
  5. I couldnt agree more. I think they should pick the best four and play them the whole game except during blowouts obviously. In my opinion I think the top four will be Purify, Nunn, Holt, and Brooks. I know many people dont like Nunn and he does drop a lot of passes but I just dont see him not playing. He is a senior and has been seeing extensive playing time since his freshman year. One thing I dont understand was it was so important to get a speed receiver they could put in the slot for this years class. If it is so important then why wouldnt they utilize hardys speed more often. It is clear judging from the kansas game that he is a burner. Why dont they throw at least some of those bubble screens that usc runs to keep pressure of the qb? Just something that I dont understand.
  6. Oooo I like it and I think it makes a lot of sense. I was watching his film again yesterday and he is a freak. The way he runs reminds me of Vince Young with his long strides. His forty time says 4.5 but he may be faster than that, and at 6'6 he is on of maybe three real deep threats next year. Purify, Paul, and Henry all have good speed and height. I think rivals said that the competition at running back was the one to watch but in my opinion its receiver. The more I think about it the more excited I get. We have sooo many weapons, Nunn, Swift, Purify, Holt, Henry, Brooks, Paul, and Hardy, all of whom could step up and break out.
  7. I am not one of those guys that are mad about firing Frank Solich bc I was one that thought it needed to be done. I was all for change and I didnt think it was a bad thing. However some things are better left the same.
  8. USC is still the one to beat. It almost makes me sick how they almost literally get anyone they go after. It doesnt matter if they are from cali or not. For the most part like 98% of texas' recruits are from texas, and it may be the same with SC but if they want someone such as Mcnight, Hazelton, Griffen, or Johnson for example they are all but a lock. I often wonder why they can do this and I might have come to a conclusion for myself. I think maybe the coaches are saying hey this kid wont stay till his senior season, that gives you the chance to start as a redshirt freshman or sophmores. They know guys like Taylor Mays wont stay all four years so thats why they go there along with the fact they are almost locked to go to a NC in the time they are there. As for all the running backs I have no idea. They have five five star, and three four star running backs all no older than a sophmore.
  9. I think that if we are going to give one of the "athletes" a shot at wide receiver it should be Hagg. The film that I have seen on this guy is really good, and while Princes is very good also, his is as a running back. It would be pretty much learning a whole new position. If it were me I might think about doing something like putting Hagg and Prince at the safety spots which enables you to put Washington at one of the OLB spots. One of them may also get moved to corner to add depth there since we graduate our top three corners next year. In my opinion I think Lawrence will end up moving inside, having Washington and Stafford on the outside. That is just something that I think is a possibility.
  10. Ya think so huh? Well what exactly was your point?
  11. That was a good post. The only response to that is that we dont need a change in leadership yet. Especially at head coach. I say give Coz this year and with the talent he has, if the defense doesnt play up to par then we need to start looking.
  12. Im sorry but I just dont think there is any way that we will run 70/30 in favor of anything. Callahan loves balance and that is a pretty overwhelming majority for a west coast offense. I do think it could be like 45/55 in favor of one way. I really am not sure which way because we do have so many quality athletes now. As for redshirting a few, I am totally in favor of. I think Callahan will play two of the younger backs. I really think Castille wont redshirt and one of Helu, Prince (if he plays running back) and Mendoza wont redshirt also in my opinion. Now if they play on special teams then obviously my view doesnt apply.
  13. It will be interesting to see where Prince plays at. He says he wants to play offense but I just dont see him playing running back. I think that Mendoza will be our "lucky" and Castille will be our "glenn". As I have stated before I think helu will be the sleeper and might take over in the future such as jackson did this year. He has all the tools he needs to be a great all around back. Prince has said before that he wants to play on the offensive side of the ball, so it is going to be interesting.
  14. Well he didnt design a defense that has shanle miss tackle after tackle and pass defleciton after pass deflection either but he seemed to do that. I am not comparing Mceon to Shanle by any means bc that wouldnt be right I am just saying, it happens. Also you said that people were saying that he should play linebacker, I am giving you reasons why he shouldnt. Also 951 huskers, what makes you think that Mceon will switch positions after starting there for two years and did a good job? Im not trying to stir things up that was an honest curious question.
  15. california husker, nice comment and Ill keep that in mind next time I post, also if they are so ridiculous why no comment back? Let me guess, they are so ridiculous you have nothing to say to them? 951 huskers, I was agreeing with you in the beginning, maybe if you read my post you would see that I said I am all about quick, aggressive linebackers. Yes I do recall someone saying that they think asante should move to linebacker. I was saying that I have heard Callahan and Asante both talk about how he is going to play safety. Also that is what I was saying about how when I have watched mceon he is always outrunning or ducking under the blockers and not taking them head on. That is just what I have seen, if you have seen something different that would make you think that he could take on blockers better than dillard then great, I have seen nothing to tell me that. Everyone keeps talking about Farley and all these guys from the mid 90's, well do I really need to tell you guys that we no longer run the same defense that we did back then? We no longer have the same d-coordinator that we had back then. Yes, obviously it worked back then and would work now as well. In this defense, the SAM linebacker is taking on a lot of blocks and needs to shed them, so yes they need to be a little stronger, I didnt say bigger.
  16. Lets move Niles Paul to linebacker, hes being brought here to play wide receiver but hes fast so I want him at linebacker! I think that would be best for the team.
  17. Also california husker genious, are you denying that the SAM linebacker has to take on the tight end and has to be a little stronger than a WILL linebacker. I am not saying they have to be twice the size but they do have to be able to shed blocks and every time I have seen Mceon he is outrunning them to the ball rather than taking them head on, I remember Callahan saying that he considered Bradley to be almost an extra defensive lineman bc he was on the line so much. I am sure you have already talked to Callahan about that and told him what he should do, I dont know why you werent contacted for the head coaching job before he was, you are sooo smart
  18. california husker, since you are such a freakin genious then why would callahan say all the things he has about Asante. Not a quote but he talked about how he has all the qualities that make a big time SAFETY. When Asante was talking about why he wanted to come here he was talking about how we are graduating a safety and he expects to come in right away and contend for a starting spot. Hmmm who told him that? I take it you know what youre talking about and I understand now. You want to move Asante (pretty much the only guy we have at that postion unless you want to start Culbert and Green and that is it) to linebacker and do what? I guess we could move Mceon to SAM bc I know that is what you want to do, have Brandenburgh back him up or dillard at the MIKE or SAM spots and bench either Octavian or Rudd. That is absolutley genious!! I cant believe the coaches didnt think of that before you. Or we could do the logical thing and keep him at safety seeing as how that is what he was specifically brought here to play. We could have one hell of a safety for three years, along with Culbert playing back there with him. Now if you said move Helu to safety that would make more sense bc we have so much depth at running back with Mendoza, Lucky, Glenn, and Castille, with Okafor coming in and possibly one other one. Maybe this will make some sense to you, you silly little fellow.
  19. I disagree with that. Callahan is all about balance. I think Callahan has made it very clear that he knows you have to be able to pound the ball inside in the big 12. In my opinion everything is perfectly fine. Lucky is better and will have a breakout season and Glenn is just nursing an injury and will be all better by the time fall camp rolls around. I dont disagree with you that Keller and Purify along with the rest of the receivers that we have will tear it up. I really think Keller will pass for close to 4000 yards this year. That is just how good I think our offense will be. I also think Lucky will rush for 1000 and glenn will rush for about 700. They are going to be a great compliment to one another. I do think Castille will get in and make a contribution and I think that Mendoza will play special teams and maybe some running back depending on what he shows the coaches in spring ball and fall camp. The sleeper is Helu, he has good size and speed, depending on how quick he learns the offense and if he even wants to stay at running back will determine how much time he gets. I think for games like Ball St., maybe Iowa St. Lucky and Glenn will be out by the fourth quarter maybe sooner and thats when you will see heavy doses of Castille and either Mendoza or Helu.
  20. I dont really think that we are losing out on better wide receivers or qbs bc texas has a better style offense or the same offense we do. We are losing out on them to texas bc they are ALL from the state of texas and they grow up dreaming of one day being able to play for the longhorns. Its close to home, they have all their family there and more than likely a lot of their teammates and friends are already on the team. The same with Miami, the vast majority of miamis recruits are probably from the state of florida. It is just so much easier to recruit when you are standing in a recruiting hot bed. Southern Cal, Florida schools, LSU, Georgia, Tennessee, and the Texas schools have A LOT better chances of landing in state guys. With oklahoma being so close to texas it is also very easy for them to sneak in texas' back yard as well. Bottom line is that it ALL comes down to who is winning. Aside from the players that ONLY want to start right away, players want to go to the nfl. What better way of getting noticed than playing with great talent around you to make you look better than you are at times. You cant tell me that we would have had our pick of the option players had we not been as good as we were. Its not like Army and Navy get the pick of the litter bc they run an option offense. All we need is like two or three good seasons back to back and get good recruiting classes and athletes to set it off. If we start winning the players will come. I know this will probably going to set off the debate of Callahan being the one to lead us there, but oh well, I definatley think he is.
  21. Just judging from what I have heard callahan say about people such as hagg and the unknown destination of Prince I really do think that he is going to be given a shot at linebacker first. Callahan said that they would start hagg out in the defensive backfield and then work from there. I personally would love to have him at safety. With that said I think they are building solid depth at the safety postion with Asante, Culbert, I think Young will get moved there, and I believe Blue will play safety as well. He might be needed more and more effective at linebacker, I am just wondering who is going to play what. Unless they move Lawrence to middle then I have no idea how they are going to fit them all on the field at the same time. Lawrence said the coaches told him that they wanted him at WILL and Stafford said the coaches told him he is going to be at SAM, so where does that leave Washington? You cant tell me that he is going to be a middle linebacker. For some reason I just dont think he would fit well at the MIKE. Who knows though?
  22. WOW. I didnt know that, I thought he was a 2 for 2 guy. Well that makes me feel a lot better about the future on the d-line than before. I know Crick is very capable but Smith is an unknown and it will take Crick at least a year to adjust to college speed. Townsend is built in the same mold as Carriker, I am not by any means saying he is, rather he has the potential to be very good. That gives us a very solid d-line for at least the next two years with potter, turner, townsend, suh, dixon, barfield, jensen, davis, yancy, and crick.
  23. I was on another site and he said that he has four years to play three and that he was going to play the base defensive end position. I thought that he was a junior without a redshirt. I was just wondering if anyone could confirm this or was it just an error by the other site.
  24. No, I totally agree with you. I have said all along that we need to give him more time and see how he does with better atheletes all around. Yes we had a pretty good front seven last year but it doesnt really matter when we had the d-backfield that we had. I cant wait till next year when we have a talented deep secondary to see how he does.
  25. ummm wasnt lucky and jackson both second team big 12? I dont know that for sure but I could have sworn they were or honorable mention or something. That is with splitting time with at least one other player the whole year and at some times three other players in a balanced offense! Its not like we run 90% of the time and still didnt produce an all big 12 running back. So ya I think there is a great chance that we will have another all big 12 qb and all big 12 running back, an all big 12 db, an all big 12 receiver and more than likely an all big 12 o-lineman. I guess I am not sure what your last post was meant to say.
