  1. I just have to chime in. This is one of the best posts on here in quite a while. There have been many great points. 1. Mu is ahead of Nu in some areas yes 2. Nu is ahead of Mu again in some areas yes. 3. more importantly here is the unpredictable. There are so many things we dont know about NU. a. O-Line, if they adopt a Pelini mentality then yes i think not only are they better than MU they quite possibly could be the best in the conference. b. RB. No Brainer we are better than MU c. QB. If Ganz is our starter then MU is way ahead, but here comes one of the unknowns. Lee is more talented than Ganz PERIOD. If Lee starts then MU still has an advantage but how big of one noone knows d. WR. Probably the biggest unknown. If swift and petersen are the starters then we are probably last in the North as far as WR are concerned. However, i for one believe that Henry Paul and Holt are extremely good. I dont think they played for Cally because he was more concerned with going exactly 14.6 yds and cutting at an exact 36.9 percent angle than he was getting the most gifted athletes in the game. I believe if the youngsters are given the chance then do we not only improve in the WR department i think we are ahead of MU. I am telling you all, watching practice, Paul Henry and Holt should have played last year and should all be on the field this year A LOT. Henry is a star in the making big tall fast good hands a pure playmaker with better speed and jumping ability than MO Pure. Paul was better than Nunn and Hardy the day he stepped on the practice field, Holt is better than swift and petersen. Catches better, is bigger and more physical, and has more speed. Also watch out for Brooks, in practices last year he came on real strong and could be a huge positive suprise next year. However, if not given the chance and we see a ton of swift awnd petersen then we dont matchup with anyone talent wise at the WR position TE dont care who we play they are not Coffman huge edge to MU

  3. I want whomever the coaches feel is the best. I would prefer, in a perfect world, that Lee or Witt start simply to have some continuity for the next few years. However, if Ganz wins the job so be it. I think we have to put faith in the coaching staff to put the best on the field. I personally think that in an open competition Ganz doesnt win, but hey, thats why i type on a keyboard at a job totally unrelated to football as opposed to getting paid the big bucks to make football decisions.
  4. Hey i dont care who it is just so long as they help us win. I dont necessarily agree with the statement that he delivered though. KU - Great numbers but several picks and should have been twice as many picks due to really bad throws. KU defenders cant catch or there would have been 8-9 picks. KSU - very good game statistically but again some very bad throws. CU - Single handedly lost the game in my opinion. Defense was playing fairly well until Ganz once again made very poor throws and completely turned the game around. I dont know the exact number of Interceptions he had but it could easily have been 15 or more. He has drive and desire but he really doesnt have very good skills. throws over 10-15 yards are rough with him. If he wins the job fair and square then great, i just hope it is honest to goodness fair competition and may the best win
  5. Have had dealings with a current players father through business. I will not name names as i know they read this board. His son has stated that the team really likes and respects Ganz for his Leadership and his unselfishness. However, and i quote, Zac Lee is the real deal, is going to be an absolute stud, has more accuracy, runs better, and has a much stronger arm than anyone on the team. The son said that many people may be surprised when the starting QB is announced.
  6. sorry i meant BJax, you are all correct, Ross was gone. I cant be perfect every time just most of it
  7. if you remember, his first year here Cally went to Kenny not Marlon when they ran sweeps or anything else to the outside. they went with Kenny over Ross as well on many of those plays
  8. His leg injury was catastrophic. It would be something if he is 100% healthy. Assuming that he is healthy 100%, and with Bo's philosophy of play the best players, Kenny will find himself #2 somewhat early in the season. Again, if healthy he is a combo of Cody, Quentin, and Marlon. He is the fastest of the group, runs well between tackles because he likes contact, and is as powerful if not more than Glenn. His first year it was tough in a 4 RB rotation, being new and not fully knowing Cally's system. If Healthy all the way he will take most of the carries from Glenn Castille and Helu. If fully healthy he may actually be our best back period. He broke his femur BoBeliever
  9. Larry Asante and Ricky Thenarse on Defense will shine. On offense i say Will Henry. He has decent to above average speed and is a big receiver, everyone talks about Paul and Holt but i think Henry will standout. Lucky will be awesome. I get so tired of hearing about "lets move Lucky to slot blah blah blah" He was 2nd team Big 12 RB this year and was screwed at that. Why do we want to move him. He will go for over 1500 on the ground and over 500 in the air. Long shot is Zac Lee. I am so surprised that everyone just wants to hand the job to Ganz. I for one dont remember him playing all that well. I remember big numbers mixed around crappy throws bad decisions and very costly mistakes
  10. I dont mean to and hope i didnt come across as discrediting Swift or Petersen. I will be happy if they play. I dont want them to never play, i just hope that we find a plethora of situations to get Henry and Holt and Paul into the gameplan along with Swift and Petersen. Who knows, maybe with some PT they will excel and if they do and prove better than the incumbent players then Great, if Swift and Petersen prove better then that is what it is. i dont want them getting splinters by any means The notion that the best players didnt always play is not a notion at all. It was a real thing with us last year. I think we would agree that Octo was our best defender all year long as a whole................. well if you recall he was benched befor McKeon or Ruud and put behind Brandenburg. Unfortuneately for Lance, he got hurt his first start and Octo was back in there. Benching him showed that not always did the best players play. RT may not be disciplined but he is a difference maker that repeatedly saw no time behind Green.
  11. Alright, not to sound mean or anything, but...How the hell do you know if they'd start at those programs next year? Do you know every receivers intangibles at every program in the Big 12 or something? I'd bet money that they'd be able to start at KU and A&M alone, as KU's talent is at our level and A&M is a running team, not a passing team. Swift has made some big catches in his career here and is a very dependable receiver who runs good routes. Because of Pedersen, we won the A&M game two years ago on the famous drive. Have you seen Henry, Brooks or Holt do what Swift and Pederson have done? You haven't, so how do you know that they'd be better, more athleticism is good, but if you don't have the knowledge and experience, then you will struggle too. So, I find it upsetting that you feel the need to questions these guys physical capabilities on the field when they have put in their time and worked their asses off to be the best receivers they can be for Nebraska, and I feel perfectly comfortable with them in the game. I think they'll do great things for us next year. I am completely sorry that i offended you, i never onced questioned them as people or their effort for our football program. KU and A&M they play ill give you that. Top 20 teams they dont play, and dont say KU is a top 20 team they had a good year this year but wont be in the top 20 next year at the end of the year. The young guns didnt get a chance to play under Cally, what the hell does that really tell us. NADA. now that cally and his goofiness are gone i think they will get a chance. Swift and Petersen played because they knew the offense better, thats it. Now that cally is not here and the receivers dont have to run exactly 15.3 yards and cut precisely at a 46.6 degree angle i think we will see the more gifted players get a chance. I am not here to argue with you, if swift and petersen are playing i will cheer them on like anyone else, but until we get some actual quality at the WR position, we arent going to be a very good team. Take the NC game for example. I saw some very good Secondary play from LSU but more visibly was the lack of athleticism in OSU WR that didnt allow them to separate and get open against man coverage. OSU wr are better than swift and petersen. NU fans (myself included at times) talk out of both sides of the mouth. We want excellence and dominance etc etc etc but then we attach ourselves to some players and refuse to admit their shortcomings. Swift and Petersen are decent players, but i will almost guarantee that if YOU had the chance to form a team and you got to watch all the receivers for an hour and then choose your team that swift and petersen would not make your squad. Now i realize you will come back and rip me and tell me hell yes you would take swift and petersen but you are only kidding yourself. I love them as NU players and dont want them off the team, i just hope that a majority of snaps next year dont have those two as the WR on the field
  12. While i cant speculate as well as you all on next years lineup, i can assure you that Murillo will be starting. I am sure it was just an oversight on your part, but if its not then none of your post means an awful lot
  13. Let me start by saying i Love the Skers, as much as anyone. I want a return to the past, i want to be mentioned again. That being said, Swift and Petersen, are great people, good WR, and experienced, BUT, if we want to be mentioned then they cant be on the field. No team in America (top 25) will have a Swift and a Petersen on the field. I love them as Huskers but to accomplish what every fan on the message boards say they want, then we have to see Paul, Holt, Henry and others in the lineup. They dont have the experience but size and speed and athleticism at the WR position are whats needed, not good guys that wear NU jerseys. In my opinion, Swift and Petersen dont see the field at any of the top 20 programs next year. Hell in our own conference they wouldnt play at Tx, OU, MU, KU, A&M, OSU, TT................................That's just our own conference. I certainly hope that we see a heavy dose of several new faces at the WR position To return to the form we as fans want we need more than a couple of starting WR that are Possession Recievers with Change of Possession Hands
  14. 1. The Players loved playing for Pelini. You cant ask for anything better than that 2. MOST IMPORTANTLY, Holy Shlt DB's looking back for the ball.
  15. Darrel Scott is a good back. he will do well, no doubt, but he will never put up 250 against NU NEVER. You guys are heading in the right direction and soon will be back to the norm for the Buffs 8 to 9 wins a year and not beating anyone you shouldnt beat. NU is on the way to where they should be, 8 or 9 wins is a BAD YEAR.
  16. 2 years from now on a cold Friday after Thanksgiving, Cu and NU take the field in Boulder. It is a tight game early but somewhere in the middle of the 2nd Quarter NU starts to show their dominance. It starts with a simple run play. Lee takes the snap and gives the ball to Helu or James. They take off to the right looking for daylight around the end. Initially the play looks like a bust as CU and their LB's have the play stonewalled WHEN out of nowhere a pulling Baker Steinkuhler and Ricky Henry demoralize the LB duo of Doug Rippy and Shaun Mohler. What should have been a negative play turns into an 18 yard run. From there, the offense for NU "takes what they want". Highly recruited yet mildy productive Josh Williams gets byotched slapped every play by Steinkuhler until eventually giving up and trying the opposite side of the line where Javario Burkes continues the Byotch slapping. Our Offense scores on 3 straight possessions and nearly has the game out of reach, but....................................... on their next possession CU puts together a sustained drive, threatening to keep the game within reach. CU marches to the NU 16. The next play, "shorty Hawkins" drops back to pass. He is immediately under pressure since Jared Crick made mince meat out of an overrated Bryce Givens. Hawkins Rolls Left and is immediately in the sights of 2 young and fast NU LB's. Hawkins barely gets rid of the ball as he gets crushed by the NU defense. The pass comes out Wobbly and is picked off by one John Levorson, who immediately turns the ball up field. It looks to be a short run back giving the ball back to the NU offense until Ndomakon (sp?) Suh turns the corner and absolutely demoralizes the only CU player left that is capable of making a play. Suh hits Givens so hard that it puts him into next week. He hits him so hard that he is out for the rest of the year, with the only thing to show for his season being an indention of an N that is square in the middle of his chest and wont seem to go away. I see the Future and that is What I see Bottom Line, these turncoats dont want to play for NU then we dont Want them at NU. Bo and staff will do just fine.
  17. I believe Ganz will start along with Swift and Petersen I sincerely hope Lee starts along with a combo of Holt Henry Brooks and Paul

    Glenn

i just have to chime in. Lucky is our BEST back hands down. Yes, he is an every down back, just not in Cally's system. We inside zone blocked on almost all of our runs. That takes one of 2 things to be successful. A) The best most athletic lineman out there no matter what size, or B) smaller quicker lineman. We tried to inside zone block with big slower lineman all of which are not NFL caliber and it plain didnt work. We have very good lineman, if you ask them to blow the guy across from them off the ball, THEY CAN AND WILL. if you ask them to outside zone block, they can. Wags knew as much and wanted to block runs differently but on that staff you did it Cally's way or no way. With the right blocking schemes and holes being created, Lucky and his production will be sick. His numbers will far surpass anyone else we have. At times Q or Glenn looked better because they are bigger and they just lowered a shoulder and made a few yards. How good would Slaton, or McFadden, or the USC backs, or Wells, or Hart, or any of them be if they didnt have holes to run through. Lucky put up his numbers with probably far fewer holes to run through than any of the afore mentioned backs. We have the lineman to open holes and with new blocking schemes we will and Lucky will be AWESOME. Glenn and Q have their purpose. Mendoza and Helu will get their time. The only back that could match Lucky or maybe surpass him would be a 100% healthy Kenny Wilson but that remains to be seen.
  19. Addison, We are on the same page. I just want good honest open competition at all positions and may the best man win. It is My Opinion that Ganz gets beat out but that is all it is AN OPINION. I want it for all positions. I want to win as a program just like the rest of ya. The same goes for the WR position. We have some untested guys that IMO are probably better athletically and skill wise than Swift and Petersen. I hope they step up and win the jobs if given the chance. I want a top 20 team next year and i think it is feasible. However, when talking top 20 i dont think any top 20 team has Swift and Petersen as their WR, it just doesnt work. They are possession guys with change of possession hands. Neither can stretch the field, get YAC, or separation. It will be a long year offensively if they are the go to guys. Yes Ganz got us out of a scoring rut but go back and think about this. Kansas was also the first time in 2 years that Mo played about 90% of the snaps. He was a difference maker and it really helped Ganz. Keller, who IMO is a way better QB than Ganz never got the luxury of knowing Mo was going to be in the pattern every play. I cant tell you how many 3rd and longs we had where Mo was on the sideline. When Ganz took over, the coaches for some reason got smart and said "hey Mo you may not know all the routes but get your butt in there and just get open" Look what happened.
  20. I hear ya but i dont agree. The picks and should have been picks he threw were not due to the defense being prepared for the pass only. if that was the case we wouldnt have put up the points we did. They were all a result (go look at the tapes) of errant passes, passes with too little arm strength, or passes that simply shouldnt have been thrown with the exception of 1 which Mo definitely should have caught. Add to the interceptions and should have been interceptions a large amount of plain bad passes and overthrown passes due to lack of arm strength (he has to get more air under the ball to get it 20 yds down field) and overall Ganz didnt really play very good. His runs were a breath of fresh air but any of the 3 QB's in question could have and would have made those runs
  21. noone wants to short change him. if the competition is open and fair and he wins, GREAT. If it is open and fair and he loses GREAT as long as its fair. I for one think he is the least talented of the 3 and in open competition will not win the job and while he may give us the best chance to win early he does not give us the best chance over the course of the season. Ganz is not up with lee and witt in most of the important categories arm strength lee witt ganz speed lee ganz/witt (ganz and witt are much closer than you think) accuracy from what i hear from someone who attends 2-3 practices a week that it is witt lee ganz the only thing ganz has in his favor is knowledge of Cally's version of the WCO. If we dont run that exact offense his 1 advantage is gone. Experience is really non existent here because 3 games is not EXPERIENCED. As a fan i dont want to annoint a starter cuz of a 3 game span in which the QB really did not play all that well. I want the best most deserving person out there and if its ganz lee or witt so be it it feels like a lot of fans just cant see out of the box and realize that maybe ganz is the best or maybe just maybe we have someone better. dont we want the better player to play IMO if the competition is truly open Ganz doesnt win. but.......................................................................................................................................................... HELL IVE BEEN WRONG BEFORE
  22. Billdozer 15 i like some of your ideas but Lucky as a slot? why? He was 2nd team all conference and really kinda got screwed there. his total yards from scrimmage was awesome. He ran really well the second half of the year. For a speed offense, castille wont be in the game plus he cant hang onto the ball. Why would we want to replace lucky? it makes no sense. The only RB i could see replacing him with is a 100% healthy Wilson. A great combo of Lucky speed and Castille power all wrapped into one back. Broken Femur however means probably less than 100%
  23. suh starter yes high expectations yes, results absolutely zero, surprise because he will make a difference next year
  24. I would love that but Asante says he came here because he wanted to play safety and he could here. He has stated he does not want to play LB
  25. This was a topic on the RSS and I thought it was a good one and interesting. My picks Defense Suh, Asante, Thenarse, of the players currently on our roster. Offense Henry, Holt, Paul, Lee, and oh yes KENNY WILSON
