  1. but it makes a statement. unlike the one Callahan refuses to make by not firing Cosgrove. if he would have fired Coz, I for one, would be less harsh cuz I would see he's recongnizes a huge problem and isnt afraid to fix it. By him not resigning it's just more of the same. Any one of our assistants could get us through the rest of the season with losses.
  2. "Runs across the 25! Breaks a tackle! Still on his feet, dodges another defender! Has some daylight! Moving across the field now! Finally brought down!! They'll mark it at the 26!"
  3. i heard it too. commented on it in the official thread. I was hoping he'd say something like, "Can't wait till these coaches and strategies are gone." Alas, he was just spewing frustration and asking the same questions we all were.
  4. that's what i was getting at. for him, it's pride now. but for us we just want him gone.
  5. yeah, as long as he's here i guess he needs to give 100%. i just think for all of us fans it would be a huge breath of fresh air. wishful thinking i guess. they wouldn't need to bring in a guy from outside...just an interim guy so the Callahan era will be officially over.
  6. don't f'ing call me an idiot. millions can disappear if your UNEMPLOYED. he has taxes, an agent, cars, mortgages, kids college, retirement, accountants, to pay for, especially with no job prospects. all that sh#t ain't cheap. not to mention a lifestyle he's become accustomed to. everyone wants to work dumbass. why doesn't Jack Nicholson just retire? he has millions.
  7. i'm just trying to put myself in his shoes. would you just QUIT your job because some (1.7 million is a lot, yes) people don't like you? just trying to be a little practical here. i wake up every day and think i will hear an announcement that he has stepped down or fired cosgrove, but really...this is his livelihood and he probably has some self-respect.
  8. that's what I'm saying though!! they aren't even trying to be flamers and talk trash!! they're just stating the obvious. Well, obvious to everyone but CALLAHAN and COSGROVE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  9. Do you guys think he should step down now? Seriously. Consider his options: 1. Football coaches usually aren't quitters 2. He has a family to feed 3. He isn't being forced out (yet) 4. Maybe, just maybe they can win a few games and end on an up note 5. Perhaps Osborne will keep him and try to help him turn things around 6. He has a pretty good recruiting class coming in 7. Despite all the criticism, these are still his players and he owes them his utmost Now here's what I think: 1. We have been and WILL BE around longer than him (i have kids and they will be Husker fans) 2. If he quits now, at least we can look forward, as fans at least 3. Let's start getting this mess sorted out so we can get help kids decide what they're going to do 4. None of us can stomach passion-less play from a team coached by him anymore 5. it would do Osborne a favor 6. He refuses to fire Cosgrove. Even though, as an offensive coach, he 'helped out' this week on defense. (grow some nuts Callahan and show us you're trying to make a difference) 7. The man who hired him is gone, the writing is on the wall. He has ruined every record we hold dear and this phase of our program is failed. it's over, period. Based on these beer induced reasons, is it REALLY prudent that Callahan step down. You know he doesn't care what us fans think of him negatively, so he presses on. But with everything that has happened the last couple weeks, and trying to be as unemotional as you can, do you think he owes the State of Nebraska his resignation?
  10. so here we have it again by J. Lane: "holes so big, cars..." 2 weeks ago Chase "boogers" Daniels: "they didn't change defenses, reminded me of high school" when other players are simply giving an interview and can make our 'staff' sound like baffoons, maybe they should leave US with some dignity cuz they aren't showing any themselves...especially since they won't be here next year.
  11. 16-14 at halftime. with momentum. 37-14 right now. sounds like we ran a 4-3 the whole game on defense. sounds like we passed it 3 times on 3rd and short. I hate to keep saying it I feel like but still, are they watching their players get DECIMATED? Make a f'ing f#*k f'ing f#*k f'ing change at some point in the game!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  12. there are injuries today because we don't practice on monday's and we don't practice in pads. so our players aren't calloused and tough. games should be easier than practices. and if you practice in pads and everyone on the team has bumps and bruises and people get hurt, then the guy behind him is ready cuz he's tough. Callahan has made our players soft. they aren't professional players who need rest and can just turn it on. they need tough practices and hitting and reptition.
  13. it's just a lost cause. BC is around this long cuz Osborne needs time to evaluate.
  14. it's weird we stay in the same defense???!??!??!? since when? can you hear the announcers talking behind the commercial? they don't know they can be heard. they are saying this is the worst defense they've ever seen!!
  15. i think castille should be carrying the ball 28 times a game
  16. Listening and reading all the interview stuff Oz has done in just his first few days on the job is like what listening to Socrates give the "Apology" must have been like. I know there is tons of hype around his return latley but damn, he is talking about recruiting sites and their 'star' system, he talking about the history of the program and you can tell he feels like it's his child or something, he's inviting players back, talking about the WO tradition, chiming in on lack of physical practices, he is so friggin level headed without sounding robotic and coachspeak it MAKES you pay attention. And on and on... I know it may take a few years for Nebraska Football to rebound from this debacle, but I gotta tell you guys: Now that we have someone in control that we can all RESPECT and TRUST, I can take the lumps longer cuz I know at least they're going to do it the right way. Don't you just feel more secure about things?
  17. i know Osborne didn't show a lot of emotion but his assistants did. I don't really care for a guy acting like stoops or Spurrier all the time, but give me an OUNCE of the guy from Okie state, the pinky finger off of Rutgers, or a little of Eric Bienemy's enthusiasm. As the ship is going down this year, here's Callahan and Coz acting like robots.
  18. he'll play 6 plays, two of which will be for first downs, 3 of which will be blocking for passes, and one will be a fumbled snap. then he will return to the sideline and sit the rest of the year. Callahan will say in the press conference, "We played a few freshman today. It was good to get them in a few packages we had put in for them. We will look at the film, take some postitives from it and see where we go from here."
  19. I know Callahan has some numbered days. I know coaches are different from each other and do things that fit their personality. I know he does have emotions because he is human. But why, why couldn't he or ANY of his assistants ever showed 1/10th of the emotion and fire of the coaches in the game Rutgers v USF last nite? Even with their jobs on the line this year and everything, there has been a lack of emtional leadership in interviews, on the sidelines, or in huddles. Maybe it's not Callahan's task to run wind sprints before the game or give gnarly scowls at officials and players; but he doesn't even show emotion when the good things happen. Is it more of the 'professional' atmosphere around here or is it just his style, or is it just me who needs to let it be?
  20. Damn it, I have so much respect for Tom Osborne. I seriously, seriously already feel better. Just knowing that he will have an influence and hand in the program makes me feel like it's Christmas Day when I was 10 years old. Imagine the conjecture, hyperbole, irrational, flaming thoughts we've all had these last few weeks (not to mention years!) and he comes on and in a matter of minutes has such a commanding, confident, calming effect; he might as well of been talking about Peanut Butter and Jelly drunk with red Kool-Aid. This is not a joke: I will sleep better tonight after hearing that interview. And by the way, great interview by Jim Rome, he asked all the right questions.
  21. I was just on Huskerfootball.com and there is a nice big picture of Bill Callahan wearing a really awesome red jacket. He is on the sideline hanging his head and looking completely forlorned. For some reason it really makes me sick. I DO NOT want to see him in our gear anymore. If they show pics of coz in our stuff, I seriously think I might gag.
  22. i was a BC supporter. i'll eat crow. it's fine. i'm not happy now. i don't feel bad for supporting. just wanted my team to win. can't blame me for that. but now we need some change. Osborne for AD.
