  1. Yea cuz doing the fist pump in a night club is as difficult as hitting a 95 mph fastball. You definitely nailed it. The Jersey Shore cast contributes nothing to society, how do they deserve to even be allowed in America, let alone make a penny? The are everything a human being shouldn't be. I bet if you asked any one of them what 2+2=....they would tell you 3 because that is just how dumb they actually are. I wasn't making that argument and even if I was, what exactly is the ability to hit a 95 mph fastball contributing to society? My point is, the marketplace puts a price on different items, in this case "entertainment" and if it is determined that fist pumping idiot "guidos" should make $100k an episode or an equally tanned, gold glove wearing "guido" should make $33 million per season, well, maybe I should have skipped college and gone to the New Jersey shore or gone to batting practice instead of to the library to study. There are numerous Baseball players that have something that the Jersey Shore crew haven't earned and its called a College Degree. Not only is Baseball the America's pastime but its a great sport to attend to with your family in a friendly atmosphere (unless you're at a Dodgers/Giants game) while enjoying a hotdog, popcorn, etc. Everything on MTV is utter GARBAGE. MTV creating shows like the Jersey Shore or 16 and Pregnant among others are basically telling/encouraging society that its ok for you to be pregnant at 16 or talking like a bunch of retards that lack more than 5 words in their vocabulary while dressing like douchebags and sl#ts Ok, first, why is “College Degree” capitalized? Also, what is the America? Is that, like, the Iraq? The point you attempt to make about the importance of education as it relates to this issue is a very bad one in that you are essentially saying that the baseball players are more valuable or, for lack of a more fitting term, “better” than the JS crew because they have a college degree. So the guy who bought his “College Degree” from the University of Phoenix has a leg up on Bill Gates (college dropout)? On top of that, your argument doesn’t hold much weight due to the fact that at least 1 of 8 original cast members did graduate college and has a “College Degree” (Vinnie) making the percentage of the JS cast with a “College Degree” exactly 12.5% or roughly half the percentage of the general American population (28%) according to 2005 numbers http://www.businessweek.com/magazine/content/05_47/b3960108.htm . In contrast, only 42 of the 750 Major League Baseball players have a “College Degree” (5.6%) according to 2004 numbers http://indi.ca/2004/06/42-mlb-players-with-college-degrees/. So basically, your point about baseball players and education is worthless. Just worthless. The rest of your argument is similar to what others have said/complained about. Yeah, It really is kinda depressing to think that one can make $100k an episode for acting like an idiot, being drunk, getting into fights, and “smushing” (much more than the average teacher makes a year to educate the nation’s youth) but the market has determined that a demand exists for these individuals to do what they do so they are compensated accordingly. You speak about people bonding over baseball and how great of an atmosphere it is, but a lot of people, myself included, don’t like to go to baseball games. My dad and I bonded over watching televised football games together, lifting weights/running together, and doing yard work together. Should groundskeepers be paid millions of dollars because a father and son bond over doing a similar activity in a great, wholesome environment? Sure, if the market dictates that….but it doesn’t. Burying your head in the sand and being upset that millions and millions of people around the world would rather watch Jersey Shore (thus legitimizing the cast members’ respective salaries) than engage in the elusively defined “productive activities” is childish. Everyone has different interests and the market will dictate which interests are considered a premium whether they be Jersey Shore “actor”, professional athlete, medical doctor, or drug lord.

  3. I get infinitely more enjoyment out of than If MTv feels like paying the characters that much for doing stupid stuff that millions of people watch, whatever, welcome to the free market, but getting $33 million for swinging a silly bat and catching a ball with a silly glove and wearing a stupid uniform is equally, if not more ridiculous when you really think about it.
  4. are you kidding me? rb will be fixed when the new guys show up? the ones with no D-1 experience?.. you just lost your crediability with that koolaid comment. Wow, that's harsh and unfounded (which is saying a lot for me). Credibility, btw. Last year, four runningbacks carried the ball more than 1 time, 2 more than 24 times. You make it sound like: a. we need a ton of healthy backs b. runningback isn't the easiest position on the team to pick up in a short period of time. If one of those guys is able to step up and take carries like Rex did, sans injury, in 2009, we should be ok. If two prove to be even adequate, spelling Rex on a couple of series a half, we'll have a decent little stable. Finding two adequate true freshmen runningbacks out of between 5 and 7 prospects (in addition to the others who may be poised to break out due to Brown's coaching) shouldn't be too terribly difficult. Now I don't think that RB will be completely taken care of, but I also don't think of it as doom and gloom position group.
  5. Ok the debate is currently on the legality of taxing unhealthy lifestyle choices. So if someone in New Hampshire surveys 400 "hardcore fast food eaters" and ask them if they are in favor of or against McDonald's hamburgers, I can reasonably assume that if 46% of the "hardcore restaurant connoisseurs" (usually go out to eat at least once a week) are for McDonald's hamburgers that it is unlikely that they (the state of New Hampshire) would accept a tax on fax food? So your definition of "politics" is making cryptic yet technically possible linkages between the opinions of a miniscule subset of a population? Oh yeah, we would also have to assume that those who are against McDonald's hamburgers are prejudiced against McDonald's, right? Explain how Mississippi is "having trouble accepting the legality of interracial marriage"? "Mr. UGAHusker, are you for or against the speed limit?" "Totally against it, I actually want to drive 120 on the interstate!" "Do you accept the legality of the speed limit and limit your 120 MPH escapades because of it?" "Yeah, my baby never goes above 70" UGAHusker is having trouble accepting the legality of the speed limit? Also, how are these voters "openly racist"? Do you have undisclosed information where all of the people who answered "opposed" claimed to be racist? Do you know what percentage of people claimed that they were opposed to interracial marriages because they are racist against all non-whites, or because they personally would not marry interracially (take any polling class and you'll quickly learn that what survey administrators ask and what people hear/how they interpret the question are often very different ex. If they surveyor asked me if I were in favor or opposed to fit people marrying fat people and I said no because I don't want to marry a fat person, the assumption is that I am prejudiced against fat people?) You still have failed to link why you care about how a state that you don't live in and I'm assuming have never traveled to affects your daily life. Have a lot of gay friends that want to live out their dream existence, living with their spouse in Mississippi? I'm sure you do. Do you honestly think that the attitudes of a select number of Mississippians (lay citizens, not legislators) on the topics of gay marriage or interracial marriage is going to influence the legislative processes in other states or set national precedent? For as much as you claim to know or be around political issues, you don't appear to have a firm grasp on how political processes work in real-life. EDIT: Thought of a better example of making a ridiculous assumption. Everyone who answers the question "I am for the legalization of marijuana" is a drug addict. I mean, they have to be, the want to be able smoke a doobie at their own leisure, man! These people obviously have trouble accepting the legality of the "whole marijuana is illegal" thing.
  6. You have got to be joking.... http://www.sportsone...On-The-Hot-Seat! She's absolutely terrible.... Of course I'm joking about her, although I do find it rather amusing that when you bolded my quote, you left out the portion where I claim that she is "soo sexy". I feel like that inclusion alone would be the immediate indicator (besides the whole Pam Ward part).
  7. Reason why no KU-MU: Kansas Population: 2,818,747 Number of people in Kansas who care about KU or MU football: 5 Number of people who care about KU football outside of Kansas: 0 http://quickfacts.ce...ates/20000.html Missouri Population: 5,987,580 Number of people in Missouri who care about KU or MU football: 47 Number of people who care about MU football outside of Missouri: 1000 http://quickfacts.ce...ates/29000.html Texas Population: 24,782,302 Number of people in Texas who care about UT or Baylor football: Everyone Number of people who care about UT or Baylor (but much more UT) football outside of Texas:....A LOT (Number who care about UT football even when they play Baylor: MU-KU interested parties X 100,000) http://quickfacts.ce...ates/48000.html
  8. So your (flawed) deductive reasoning flows something like this: Marriage rights are important to national politics Interracial marriage is a form of a marriage right Interracial marriage is important to national politics ? Ok, let's use a metaphor that we all will love to put this in real terms, Nebraska Football Nebraska RBs contributed 2258 rushing yards last season to the statistical rushing total Tyler Legate is a Nebraska RB Tyler Legate contributed to the statistical rushing total Come on, you're better than that (right?)
  9. Watched some "Ninja Warrior" last night for the first time in a long time. The announcers on that show are even more exciting than the challenges themselves.
  10. Don't even get me started, guess I'll have to change that when I'm on College Game Day. Dislike: Cocky men announcers... that think they know everything. oh and, sexist comments by anyone. To be honest, when I first read this, I thought it was directly in reference to the "women announcers" comment. Now I see that is probably intended as a general dislike. I am officially eating crow and I apologize to all for my ridiculousness. That is all.
  11. Don't even get me started, guess I'll have to change that when I'm on College Game Day. Dislike: Cocky men announcers... that think they know everything. oh and, sexist comments by anyone. Dislike: People who sporadically come on message boards just to complain and people who use actual pictures of themselves as avatars I don't think that was complaining, it was stating. And sorry to offend you by using a picture of myself. Its ok HGM, we still like you! as for UGAHusker, how do you like my avatar?! Where did you find it?

  13. Favorite: Pam Ward (Soo sexy) Jim Lampley (cool, intense voice, knows what he's talking about) Roy Jones Jr. ("pound for pound, the baddest thing throwing down") Larry Merchant (sounds half-drunk most of the time) Harold Reynolds (hehe) Least: Verne Lunquidst (fat) Craig James (douche) Darrell Waltrip (want to strangle him everytime I hear "boogity, boogity, boogity!!!") every single FOX announcer who ever announced a BCS or Cotton Bowl game over the last 5 years (sucked....just sucked beyond belief)
  14. This poll was just Republican primary voters. Apparently they asked the same questions of non-Republicans and will release those numbers soon. I will add them when they are released. To be honest, I think the numbers will be better, but not by much. You might be right. I'm hoping for less than 20% at least . . . but we'll see. Why do you care that much? Yeah, this is a socially outdated view, but I doubt something like this ever comes up to a vote; if it did, even if Dems held the same views, 46-40 wouldn't cut it. Even if it were to pass, you don't live in MS, so how does it affect you? It's not like the rest of the country would jump on the MS bandwagon (if anything else, it would just stoke the fire of resentment and disbelief that many Americans already feel towards the state and its history). I can see how some would compare it to the gay marriage thing, but even then, the comparison doesn't hold. If gays can't get married in a state, they will either leave or not get married. Heterosexuals who can't marry outside of their race might leave the state, (the socioeconomic status of most MS residents makes this option rather implausible) but are more likely to just marry within their race; maybe not an optimal personal arrangement, but conceiveable nonetheless. Excellent point. From now on, I'll only notice and comment on news from the state of Nebraska. Why did you care about Wisconsin? You don't live in Wisconsin (right?) so how does it affect you? Hmmm…why did I care about Wisconsin/why is this situation different than the Wisconsin situation? The Wisconsin situation involved an actual proposal, subsequent vote, widespread protests, (that continue in the state and have spread to others) proposed job cuts, proposed benefit cuts, collective state budget cuts, influence on other states' legislative endeavors, and possible fodder for future court rulings on union/collective bargaining issues. The stuff that went down in Wisconsin and has rippled to other states has definite potential to affect future federal policies and mandates as well as my state in the future. This is why I care. So you're comparing these repercussions and fallout to the opinions of 400 "hardcore Republican voters" (Public Policy Polling 2011) who are "usual Mississippi Republican party voters" (PPP 2011) on a single, ideological issue? No, not politicians who would never actually ever think about introducing, yet alone passing such a proposal…400 random MS "hardcore Republican voters" (whatever that means good technical language). So essentially what you're saying is that my caring about a particular state's legislative issues that could potentially affect other states' policies, if not possibly affecting future federal policies while also causing uprisings across the country is the same as your caring about how 400, randomly selected, MS "hardcore Republican voters" (not legislators) feel about a single ideological issue? While you're at it, why don't you dig up some numbers from 1951 and 1976 and see how the sentiments towards mixed-racial marriages were by "hardcore Republican voters" in the Magnolia state were in those years. I guarantee that those numbers, when compared with the current numbers, will help you sleep easier tonight.

  17. How many people did they get at their games last year? Can only imagine that if these games are being played primarily during offseason periods that, more former Huskers should help attendance numbers.
  18. What was wrong with this? I have definitely seen this used as a logo when looking as past Husker stuff.
  19. Heard of the Ivy League conference, brah? Ok, but I hardly concider them a conference. You are no longer allowed to mention anything about academics. @bigg10 The spelling gives it away. You must have went to Iowa or Missouri. Am i right? Have went? Are you kidding me? You're even worse than the other guy. Let me guess, you went to Le Cordon Bleu, right? http://englishplus.c...ar/00000217.htm Stop sketching on my profile, btw.

  23. What? Who in the world is saying to not "respect your competition"?? Well? Where did that come from and what does that have to do with anything? Gee, maybe you should have added "show up for the games"? Duh. We are indeed close to the TO era. We've won 9 - 10 - 10 games the last three years which is almost exactly what TO did for the vast majority of his career. It took awhile for TO to win his big games and get conference champions & NCs too. We've been extremely close to getting two ccg wins the last two years if you've noticed. Florida St has been winning boatloads of games, big bowls for a good quarter of a century and has a couple of NCs too. They've got a shorter but still healthy dose of tradition also. Alabama was in the mud for a decade and look at them now. Florida was the same with Zook, Ohio State with their Cooper years, etc, etc. Nebraska is on the road back and you Debbie Downers are not going to stop it. Yes...yes!
