  1. Ask an expert, I have. What expert have you been talking to?....Mark May or Lou Holtz?
  2. "I Bleed Red" congratu F'ing lations. You answered his post correctly. You are such a monday morning QB. Instead of being reactive and saying everything the coaching staff does wrong. Why dont you come up with something we can do at this point to improve. If you are such freaking genius, who would you suggest would be the second coming of jesus to coach at NU? Why dont we exume Devaney? Is that more to your liking? How bout rather than always being on the negative side of things, you actually come up with a logical plan other than firing everyone at NU and burning it to the ground. Or better yet why dont you go apply for the coaching position. I bet you are sweet on xbox or playstation, that obviously translates to being a football genius. SEND ME TO THE WOODSHED!!!!!!!
  3. In no way am I saying Cally is the wrong guy for the job, and i dont think that is what the original poster was implying either. There is obviously a learning curve. I think Cally may have assumed his players can do without contact, however no college team is good enough to go without contact. Not even USC. The players are simply still developing and still need the contact to learn and get better.
  4. Let me clarify the NFL mindset that he needs to get over, is that these guys can turn the switch after a week layoff. Pros.....yes, College athletes, most of which dont go pro........no.
  5. He definately needs to get over the NFL mindset. You have to practice in pads at some point. In the NFL guys may be able to throw the "switch" come sunday. However i think we have seen, that in the college game you have to keep up the intensity or you lose that tangible "it". The players in college are still developing and need to continue working on the fundamentals. Hence the need for some full contact during the week.
  6. If TO was still coaching we would have two more national titles and we would still be running the option.IMO
  7. Its not hard!!! When I played our coach always said "He cant go anywhere if he cant move his legs". I was a smaller guy so i always wrapped up at the waist and tripped them up. Its so basic, don't try and body a guy to the ground, because if they have a sense of balance it doesnt work. Just wrap up the legs and bring them down!!!
  8. I think it will be interesting to see how the team reacts this week. It will be a good rebound game for the defense to work on some things. Ball St has a young offense. However, there defense is all upper classmen, I think we could see the offense struggle if Ball St is able to stop the run. I hope we come out looking like World Beaters, but i doubt the heart of this team after that sorry defensive performance on saturday. Hopefully they prove me wrong, and hang 65 on Ball St while keeping them to only scoring field goals.
  9. Absoulutely right! If we show that Ball St and Iowa St can't run then that will help. If they run on us, then the yelling will be louder. The Mizzou game will be the benchmark. If we stop them from running and beat them then everyone will be Kool Aid drinking again. I will even take a sip. Now, if we get beat handily by a "over rated" TX team then we will be angry again. I keep cautioning people to stop calling USC and TX overrated. We they beat us then we look even worse. But at least this week they are calling USC good enough to play against NFL teams. Let me guess Mark May thinks half the USC players will play in the pro bowl this year. Or that they could win the super bowl as long as Bill Billicheck(sp) doesnt steal their signs.
  10. I say atleast 300 before everyone calms down. But seriously I don't think it is unreasonable that we can put up 62.
  11. I am going to be in Sioux City during the Nu vs. Ball St game. Just curious if anyone here is from there and knows of a bar that will be carrying it. I am originally from the sewer however have not been back for awhile.
  12. Nice to see you tide fan. I hope we are able to meet up with you guys. It would be nice to see two old school universities tee it up. However, as you can tell by the attitude on this board we will probably not win one more game and NU will drop the football program by mid november. But good luck to you guys for the rest of the year.
  13. I agree the defense has struggled. I think the offense is definately coming along and we are going to put up big time offensive numbers this year. But we can't fire a coach mid-season. I have no problem looking for a different d-coordinator in the off-season. But the way people are talking is just annoying. If you would look at it "rationally" you would see firing a coach mid-season is as dumb as you can get, and if you get rid of Callahan now, we are right back where we were 3 years ago....Missing bowl games!! Remember we are now on Callahan's guys, but they are only his first recruiting class, that he had to throw together at the last minute, because we were irrational and fired a coach before we had another lined up!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Give Cally a break.
  14. I am going to start this domain. I think NU should fire everyone and burn the campus to the ground and start from scratch. Obviously this is the best way to get back to where we were. The next time NU looses at football we should fire the volleyball coach John Cook. Somebody's head has to roll. God!!! we lose one game and everyone wants to jump off the cliff. Guys its ONE game, and it was the 3rd game. Lets wait to see how this season plays out before we go and burn Memorial Stadium to the ground, and lets atleast start with Haymarket park.
  15. We will beat Texas this year. They are struggling big time. I think we play OU agian in the Big 12 championship. I think we are still a few years from a NC type team. We are going to need to get some major talent on defense as well as a better defensive play caller. I think NU should go out a break the bank trying to get a defensive guru in there as coordinator.
  16. I must admit I was so upset on saturday night i shut the game off when the score got to 28-10. I have never done that ever, but when i got up sunday i retrieved it off the tivo and rewatched it. I think maybe some excessive amounts of hopps and barley impaired my vision of the game. If we take away the two INT's in our own territory that led to an easy 14 points for USC we are looking at a completely different game. Granted our defense did not play the best, but turning the ball over deep in your own territory doesnt help. I was pleased with the way we were able to move the ball on USC, remember this is the best team in the country with probably the most talented defense and we still put up 31 pts. The offensive play calling suprised me in a good way. I thought cally would opt for another conservative attack. I think we need to come away from this game thinking positive. Granted i wanted to win so bad, but i think i was looking through some rose colored glasses. If we can minimize our offensive mistakes, we are going to pour points on the rest of the teams we play. However, something has to be done about the defense this offseason. In the last four years our defense has not gotten anybetter and possibly worse, while our offense is taking strides. So everyone take a deep breath, look at the rest of the schedule and realize if our offense can produce like it did on saturday and continue to improve as Keller settles in, it will be a long season for the rest of the Big 12.
  17. I dont bet on husker games, i believe it is a bad omen. I only bet on games that i dont have a vested interest in.
  18. I submitted it to the OWH and Journal star. Hopefully they print it in tommorrows paper and the players are able to see it, especially the guys who have family ties to the team. Family is one thing i hope is always a staple of NU. I would love to see some more Ruuds, Peters and Wistroms show up in about 20 years.
  19. To USC players and fans this is what you can expect as you enter the Mecca of NU football. You will be greated by 85,000 screaming rabid fans, the likes of which you have never seen before. We will cheer our team, never relenting no matter the score. Whether we are up by 50 or down by 50 the rabidous fans of our Mecca will never relent. You are welcome to cheer your team, however it will be frivolous as your Trojans will never hear you. You will be drowned out by the chants of "Go Big Red" and "Husker Power", calling upon the spirits of past. Above every entrance there are reminders that WE are the greatest fans in college football. Do not fear being degraded, for we will not do that, we only cheer our team on untill the only sound you will hear is your own heart beating. We are the chosen children of the corn, with the tradition of family raising us to greatness. Family names of Ruud, Green, Steinkuhler, and Makovica have echoed through the PA system of our stadium for generations. With these ghosts of the past still roaming and watching over our stadium, our players will protect the house their families built, at all costs. You may fear the thunderous roar when our men enter the field, for it is the sound of us calling for the order to be restored. Your time has come and is now nearing an end, for we are the chosen ones, the trumpet has been sounded, the time is upon us now and we will restore the order at all costs. WELCOME TO THE SEA OF RED!!!
  20. I realize that SOME husker fans will buy season tickets just to go to one game. But if that is the ONLY way to go to the game, will that affect the amount of Sker fans going? That was my main question.
  21. I guess I don't really see the ISU game as worth spending $300 to go to. I mean its not like you can sell the remaining tickets to get some money back. But i do see your point. Well, here is to making "Husker Home Game" shirts for the game.
  22. I have a question for everyone here. I dont know if you have been paying much attention to what is going on over in ames this year, but i just wanted to let you all in on a scam the AD is pulling. With the ISU vs. Iowa game the only way to get a ticket in was to buy a season ticket. There are no single game tickets being sold to this game. The ISU AD did this to try and make sure he has the home field advantage, however he also is ensuring that the stadium will be half empty the rest of the season. I know that Pollard will pull this little stunt on us next year because we travel so well. How many of you would buy the season ticket to go to just one game? Do you think NU fans will bite on the bait and pay the season ticket price for one game? I think it would be hilarious if we bought out 3/4 of their stadium and we had "Husker Home Game" shirts made. It would also reduce them to only being able to have a 1/4 of the stadium filled for the rest of the year.
  23. I hope there is some sort of play calling clause, that says "Atleast one misdirection play is to be run during the cours of a game"
  24. Never Happen. To be a coach at a big time powerhouse program you have to be a big name coach. Michigan fan would never accept it.
