  1. Wow....I can't believe that.....they obviously don't know who they are just throwing away. Come on Texans, Pick him UP!!!! I think Tampa had like 5 QB's on the roster. It's not too surprising. Yeah, I hope he lands somewhere. Really too bad he doesn't have more God-given athletic ability. Great offensive mind though. Hope he gets what he wants out of the NFL.
  2. http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/index It is under the college football link. right hand you will need to scroll down a bit.
  3. This guy is funny. Unbelievable! Considering Baylor has a record of 28-85 over the past ten years and is ranked 101 out of 119 teams by ESPN. Ladder 119: Nos. 101 to 119 (from 1997 to 2006) RANK TEAM RECORD WIN % TITLES BOWL RECORD 101 Baylor 28-85 .248 0 0-0 The emblematic moment of Bears football the past decade was the 1999 decision by coach Kevin Steele to try to punch in one more score from inside the 10 while up three on UNLV in the final seconds. Naturally, the Bears fumbled. Naturally, the Rebels ran it back 99 yards for the victory. Naturally, Baylor remains without a winning season since 1995. Yeah they are definitely better than any north team And since 2002 they have a 6-9 record against North opponents. Right I would say they have our number.
  4. The Red by Chevelle- I heard it on a highlight video of the Alamo Bowl vs. Michigan and had to look it up. And of course, the tunnel walk song. I know it has a name that you guys have probably already mentioned on this thread. I just am too lazy to find it.
  5. Yeah I hope to see that through the entire season. No more 3rd quarter let downs!!
  6. Yeah, I think I caught that after I reread your post. He is tough and I think he will be in the NFL more years than most expect. I do think he will make a fine coach some day. Hope he makes it back to Lincoln too.
  7. Thank you for saying that. I don't think he has any sort of vendetta against Nebraska either. I know we will get fired upon for saying that, but I just don't see it. He did whine like a little girl when they were doing the best of the best, but other than that he hasn't been out to get us. I would say Mark May has more distain towards nebraska than Herbstreit.
  8. point well taken. This season needs to start soon! We are really running out of things to talk about.
  9. Beck burried himself in a deep hole and will never be able to get out. This is true. This takes us a bit off subject but, it is funny how that situation played out. No one is bigger than the team. If you don't feel like you are getting the look that you deserve, the door is over there, don't let it hit you on the way out. Unfortunately for Beck I think his glory days will be the few snaps he took in our KSU victory. I hope Dailey manages to have a strong year receiving to end on a high note.
  10. Amen to that. He would be a great asset to our young up and coming recruits.
  11. I definitely admire that. It shows maturity. I respect his reasons for leaving and the way he left. I wish I could say the same for Beck. Of course his mother kind of helped in his demise
  12. I still have flashbacks to that fourth down play when he stepped out of bounds well before the first down marker to end the game against So. Miss. I was dumbfounded, I had to look at my brother who was watching with me and say "did that just happen? We just lost on that play?" Definitely a good kid, just not cut out to be a QB.
  13. First let me say I think there are a fair number of fans with me to say I never wanted Pelini for our Head Coaching position. We tried "the promote from within" with Frank and it hurt our level of talent. I don't doubt that Rathman, if given the opportunity, would be an excellent coach. I just doubt that Callahan is really going to leave any time in the near future unless he is escorted out after a couple more mediocre seasons. But of course, like I said before, only time will tell. A lot can change in the span of a year or two. Look at Urban Meyer, it was this side of two years ago that Urban was here in Utah to stay...that is until he ran the table and won a BCS game. Granted he stayed in College, but how soon before he tries his likes at the NFL. Still, it is just a feeling, but I think Callahan is here to stay for a long while.
  14. Last I heard Beck was riding the pine at NC State. We'll see if he ever gets his chance to shine. Sounds like he will fizzle out though
  15. I think they will come to Lincoln, and while I don't think he will pick NU, I agree with you in that he will give us our deserved respect when we come off of a huge win at Wake. I actually don't mind Herbie and Corso as much as I detest Mark May and Lou Holtz. I just can't take hearing those two guys talk.
  16. If only we could play Ball State before SC we could have it both ways
  17. I feel bad for him to. It was just a stroke of bad luck how he got thrown into the WCO. I think it was just too much for him to handle and he crumbled. It's too bad he didn't switch to receiver while he was here, he could have learned a lot.
  18. Maybe???? I love Zac Taylor. I think he is a stud and he helped our team out a lot. But a Doug Flutie type I don't see. He just isn't mobile enough to come in and do what Flutie did and isn't big and strong enough to make a huge NFL impact. I see him as a great teacher that can learn a system and help younger more talented QB's come a long. I see him eventually as an assistant coach somewhere.
  19. Good to see that he is able to look at his QB career with some humor. I hope he does well at receiver.
  20. As they say, preseason polls usually don't mean much. Can't look past Wake that is for sure. However, like many others I think we win big at Wake setting up a great matchup in Lincoln vs SC. This season can't start soon enough
  21. Well put. I don't think he is going anywhere any time soon either. But when people start saying there is no way he goes they are just kidding themselves. I do disagree with the premice of this thread, that BC is leaving soon and that he should be replaced by a Former Nebraskan. It just isn't realistic for that to all play out. Timing is everything with coaching changes. We wouldn't even have BC if Tom waited a few more years to retire IMO. BC has too much to do here to even consider leaving under his own power. The only way I see him leaving is if we go 7-6 this year followed by another like performance. Then yes I see him being asked to leave. And lets say in the next 5 years he is able to win a couple NC's, he will be treated like a God throughout the state. I am with you, I think behind all of his "professionalism" is a father that wants a quiet safe environment for his family. Family life would have to be hard for any professional coach. I see him staying in Nebraska for quite a while creating his own legacy of winning.
  22. I voted for the 4 team format. I truely believe that if we go to a 16 game system and change the conferences around we will loose the College football "feel". What I mean by that is each game will not be so important, the energy just won't be the same. All teams will start doing what we don't like to see with BC; they will start playing not to loose. They won't take as many chances. As much as I want to see a playoff I don't want to loose the fun and energy of College football. I recognize of course there would be a new energy with the playoffs, I just don't think it would be the same during the regular season.
  23. Now I like the sound of that! It would be even better if we went undefeated......maybe a National Title to make it 6! Come on Huskers, Lets do this! New to the board here. I must say this was an enjoyable thread. Even though the outcomes are ficticous, they aren't just our biased opinions. For some reason that makes it more enjoyable to read. I would take 10-4 with a win over michigan in the Fiesta Bowl, but I would much rather have the 13-1 with a final ranking of 2. That would sure turn some heads. Man we really need this season to start.
  24. How many coaches have supposedly been happy with where they're at only to get that hot phone call and be on the next plane out of town? I'm sure the Miami Dolphins are real happy with Saban. Plus, I don't see NU trying to compete money wise with a pro team if BC ever has that kind of success. Considering the loyalty of BC's assistants to the program, what makes you think BC will be anymore loyal if the right situation opens up for him? I'm pretty sure I read where Miles was very happy at OSU, but after the call from LSU wow he got happier. Petrino was supposedly happy at Louisville a couple of years ago when he turned down pro jobs. What happened? Well he found what he perceived as the right opening and bolted to Atlanta. I think it's very naive to at least not accept the fact that BC may get lured away from NU by a pro team. However, I think he's got a lot to do and accomplish before many/any pro teams lay out the red carpet for him. Good post. As much as we all want to believe he couldn't be "bought" by the NFL most everybody has their price. Just ask the Yankees. So I don't think anyone can really say there is no way he would go back to the NFL. However, considering how his departure happened I think he would need to become wildly successful in College ie multiple NC's to receive an unrefusable offer back to the NFL. Also, I do believe he has a level of loyalty to Nebraska football, and if treated well could make this a final career move. But of course, only time will tell. This is a different time, and you don't see loyalty like it used to be.
  25. Agreed, I saw some of the conference with the KU coach... BC is just in a different league when it comes to public appearances. He really presents himself and the team very well.
