  1. I've seen this type of report a few different places as well. Maybe why Bo is playing things so close to the vest? Saturday can't get here fast enough...
  2. That's not entirely correct. I'm taking multiple sources, not one. Also, Taylor did play Scout QB as well as WR. When we were practicing for a Mobile QB, it was TM, not Kellogg, who was QB. I do know that he worked out at QB and WR last year. As for the other questions, I don't have all the answers. Who knows what goes through Bo and Wats' heads? This whole thing started when I pointed out that the myth of Martinez not being brought in to play QB was untrue, which I have proven. Then I got jumped on.
  3. As a matter of fact, I don't. Sean Callahan was the one pimping the WR/DB line for Martinez the whole time, while Scout, HP, and a couple others said different. Also, if anyone actually took 5 seconds to read my points, it was that Martinez may have been listed as an "Athlete" but he most certainly was coming in as a QB first and foremost. HOWEVER, because of his unique skillset, they knew he could play somewhere else if QB didn't work.
  4. was just coming to post this. pretty funny stuff. vindication, eh saunders? It's not about vindication, but the truth. So many people take what they hear at Huskers Illustrated as gospel, without checking around for 5 seconds. Many of the false rumors seem to originate on the forums there as well.
  5. Even though my thread just got deleted (for whatever reason) I just wanted to point out something in today's press conference. When asked about Martinez, Bo said "We recruited Taylor as a Quarterback."
  6. Or maybe don't make ridiculous arguments that are inherently wrong.
  7. Soccer has a worldwide following. NASCAR does not. Please don't compare the two. 120% Correct. Actually NASCAR does have a worldwide following, so you would be 120% wrong. do a little research before you knock something you obviously haven't got a clue about. Just because you don't like/understand the sport doesn't mean you have reason to knock it. For arguments sake auto racing is WAY more popular worldwide than American football, not even a close competition. I am just as big of a Hukser fan as any one of you, but complaining about a time slot and knocking another popular sport isnt going to get anything done for you. The schedules are set YEARS in advance for races, contracts signed and so on and so on. They will not change it for a game!! get over it! As for people that like more than one sport and myself i will have a nice long day of watching Husker football and then the race. Cant wait Um, no. The rest of the world follows open wheel/formula 1 racing (Indy car) not Nascar. Also, turning left for 3 hours is not a sport.
  8. Most boards clamp down on it, for good reason. I'm surprised it gets zero attention here.
  9. Obviously I'm totally and completely in the wrong here. Afterall, if everyone else does it, that makes it right.
  10. So, essentially, we are required by some misplaced sense of loyalty to travel to an art museum to view a painting and pay for admission rather than just google image it. Like I said..I'm all for people receiving credit for their work. I think ripping music is wrong, but that doesn't mean it's going to stop. A line exists between being trivial and being realistic. What you are saying is trivial and an overstated representation of how things should be. Last but not least, it was an article from a free website, and free websites subject themselves to the possibility of the very thing you are campaigning against. Is it right? No. So, at least we agree on something. I think it's time this thread got back on track before this commentary forces a mod to lock the thread. I love how people go to extreme examples to derail an argument. What you are saying is that basically, it's wrong, but you don't care. Good to know. I find it odd that it's frowned upon when someone posts "premium" info from a site, but copying an entire page from a site that isn't "premium" is no big deal. It's not necessarily this particular site that I care about, being seeing it happen over and over again is just plain wrong.
  11. You're right. I'm obviously in the wrong here. Someone copying and pasting an entire article from a site verbatim is exactly the same as someone summarizing a story when telling another person. If someone asked me what Star Wars was about, telling them "it's about good vs evil in space" is identical to downloading bootlegged copies from the internet and burning copies for them. Exactly the same. i've been watching this debate, and it does seem trivial, bu ti think he was saying that it is more like if you get the paper delivered to your home, and you take that newspaper to work and a co-worker grabs it off of your desk and reads it, would you stop him/her and make him/her go out and buy his/her own to read? I understand what you are saying. But I also think that it's unfair to site creators/writers to not receive compensation for their work. I have dealt with these issues with my job numerous time, and having someone basically lift your work, without compensation is not cool at all. I find it extremely hypocritical for someone to say "I can't be bothered to click this link" due to convenience or whatever, when the article is over 3500 words... i do not think you are wrong. i do look at message boards as being tantamount to verbal conversations, but it is very gray and a policy of visiting the source site would probably be better/more fair/more ethical/etc., unless it is to an article written by chip brown, then i think we can all agree that only one person should be sent on that mission to retrieve it, and no one else should have to be subjected to the site. Amen to that!!! Your entire argument is pointless anyway because I DID post the link at the bottom in the original posts. If you didn't make it that far that's not my fault. It's not pointless at all. BFD if you post the link after posting the whole article. What's the point in posting a link if you copied the whole friggin' thing? I'm not dumb, even though you keep trying to say that. You obviously don't have respect for the work of others, so I'm not surprised.

  15. Hey thanks for your input saunders45. Next time I'll post a paragraph and link it since you're intimidated by long articles. I'll see if I can find some pictures to go with it too just to make it easy on you. I'll ignore the childish insult (hurrrrr durrrr, yurrrr dumbbbb), and spell it out for you. It's not about the article "length" at all. But copy/pasting a whole article removes the need to visit the site, denying them of page hits and ad revenue. But from a convenience standpoint, I would personally much rather have the entire article posted than only a paragraph and then a link. It is, however, a copyright violation to post the whole article. Not that anyone would likely ever get in trouble over this one... Nevertheless, I vote for letting the people who did the work to write the article get the page hit. Plus, when they get big page hit numbers for Nebraska articles, all the more reason for them to cover the Huskers more... /End hijack Bingo.

Someone takes the time to research and write an article, and you can't be bothered to contribute to pageview/ad revenue because you can't be bothered to click a link? Isn't that basically stealing?

  18. :clap :clap We need a standing ovation emoticon. Well said, sir.
  19. I believe he did when we needed an "immobile" QB. However, Martinez took the snaps for any QB that could run. You are extremely wrong on Martinez. Here's the OFFICIAL Nebraska release on recruits from 2009 that lists Martinez as an ATHLETE, and Green as a QB. http://www.huskers.c...&ATCLID=3660376 Martinez played QB a bit on the scout team, but Ron Kellogg played it the vast majority of the time. Martinez operated at WR the vast majority of the time last year. In fact Kellogg was even named scout team MVP for his efforts last year. http://www.huskers.c...&ATCLID=3662486 Martinez notes about last year 2009 (Redshirt) Martinez redshirted in his first season in the program and worked on the scout team. And Kellogg's 2009 (Redshirt) Kellogg quarterbacked the scout team, and earned Scout Team MVP honors. And last but not least here's the writeup on Martinez from when he signed saying he could play on either side of the ball. Taylor Martinez ATH, 6-1, 185, Corona, Calif. (Centennial HS) Taylor Martinez is a talented all-around athlete who has the ability to play on either side of the ball at Nebraska. One of six Californians in Nebraska's 2009 recruiting class, Martinez compiled huge numbers as a quarterback during his senior season. The 6-0, 175-pounder also has shown outstanding ability on defense and could be a factor in the Nebraska secondary in the future. Martinez was a dual threat quarterback for Coach Matt Logan at Corona's Centennial High School during his senior season. Martinez passed for better than 3,000 yards and threw 28 touchdowns, while completing about 61 percent of his attempts. On the ground, Martinez added 750 rushing yards and 12 touchdowns. His play helped Centennial to a perfect 15-0 season and a state championship, culminated by a victory over prep powerhouse De La Salle High, when Martinez threw for 243 yards. Centennial High finished No. 2 nationally in the USA Today's final high school rankings. Martinez was named the Big VIII League's Most Valuable Player and also earned the Los Angeles Times' Glen Davis Player-of-the-Year Award. The award is named in honor of the 1946 Heisman winner from Army. A first-team all-state selection, Martinez was also the Inland Division Offensive Player of the Year. Martinez spent only one season at Centennial High School. As a junior, he played quarterback at San Bernadino Cajon High and accounted for about 1,500 yards of total offense. Martinez spent his freshman and sophomore seasons at Norco High, where he earned the majority of his playing time in the secondary. Martinez is ranked among the top "athlete" prospects in the nation by Rivals.com, while Scout.com lists him among the top 50 quarterbacks in the nation. He is listed among the top 50 players in California by both Rivals.com and SuperPrep. Martinez committed to Nebraska last August and only visited the Huskers. He is the son of Casey Martinez and Eti Fania and was born on Sept. 15, 1990. Sigh, I guess I have to post this here too. "OMG.... how hard is this to comprehend. I know he was signed because he could play multiple positions. Where did I dispute that? HOWEVER, it was stated, MULTIPLE TIMES, that he was going to start at QB. If that failed, he could move to a different spot. That's all I'm saying." Also, I'm not "extremely wrong" at all. What I'm saying was repeated multiple times on Scout.com, both through official, and unofficial channels.
  20. First, I agree that this rumor is bullcrap. Second, Martinez was certianly recruited as a QB first. The coaches knew he could play another position if it didn't work out at QB. Go back and read his recruiting articles. Specifically, the kid was recruited as an athlete. Even more specifically, he was recruited by the coaches with the idea of playing on defense. But, he said all along that if a chance at quarterback arose than he would want a fair shot. Uh, I follow recruiting quite a bit, especially since Bo took over. The problem is, Rivals is wrong, because they didn't report the whole story. The "athlete" part is what he was designated by the recruiting service. Green started out as an athlete as well. It was quite known that he was coming in as a QB first on Scout. So, yes, he had the option to play D if it didn't work out, but he certainly was being brought in as a QB first. He was brought in as an "athlete with the chance at QB." We gave him his chance like every school that does this does, and he surprized. We really didn't intend on keeping him at QB his whole career as he was working at WR in the bowl preperations. He is one of those kids that obviously does not take no for an answer. He was a definate third on our depth chart until he "missed" that practice. Ever since then he has been very impressive and has played very inspired football. Sorry, but that's not entirely true. Martinez worked as the Scout Team QB just like Lee, Ganz, and Keller. Again, he was brought in as a QB first, with the option to move if it didn't work out. I don't care who starts, but misinformation drives me crazy. Then I guess you are driving yourself crazy. You are extremely wrong on Martinez. 21. I believe he did when we needed an "immobile" QB. However, Martinez took the snaps for any QB that could run.
  22. Please stop with this myth. It's entirely untrue. ??? It is entirely true. In fact even as of bowl practices last year Martinez was not working at QB. Had our QB depth not been what it was, his supposed "shot" would have been a token one. There was even some speculation that a school might throw an offer for QB at him late to try and steal him from us, but it never materialized. This. He was a distant 3rd going into fall camp. Since he "missed" that practice that friday he made a HUGE jump. He had a tremendous camp. Um, no. Not "this." Martinez was the scout Team QB last year, just like Zac Lee, Joe Ganz, and Sam Keller have all been. Um, yes. That. He was working at WR during the bowl preparations and that is a fact. The part that enhance said about a late offer from a school willing to make the committment to making him a quarterback could have stolen him away is true as well. Nobody is disputing that he was the scout team QB last year. Who else was going to run the scout team? Green and Lee both worked with the 1s. I never disputed him working out with the WR's. I disputed the fact that he wasn't brought in as a QB first. As for the Scout Team, Kellogg or Washington could have run it, easily.

Cody Green was PROMISED that he would be the only QB brought in during the 2009 cycle. I did, and all I saw were posts from RIVALS. It helps to gather info from multiple sources before asserting something as fact. Believe it or not, they aren't the only site out there...
