  1. I'm pretty sure if Nunn hangs on to the f'ing ball last year, NU not only competes with a rated opponent, they beat one. 1-3 rather than 0-4 vs Top 10 teams? Yea, so is 7-30. Which is what Osborne's record was between 1973 and 1992 against top 10 teams. Which is why he started recruiting speed instead. All the hard, continual knocks of the 80s provided him with that. I agree with junior4949. Callahan has been recruiting for 4 years. Where are the excellent players he brought to Lincoln? As has been said in other threads, give them a chance to play and see what happenes.
  2. Wasn't that the one with Keith Jackson? I'm sorry but there is no reason that moron should have been allowed to intro the Tunnel Walk. He still has Bob Griese's semen on his chin from the 1998 Rose Bowl.
  3. What do they learn from that? And I wonder who "won"... I imagine the ball bouncing around the field and all of these gold-helmeted people watching it for 3 hours. Remember that Simpson's episode when the evil genius, Scorpio, tries to take over the world and at the end gives homer the Broncos? "Aww the Denver Broncos?" And the guy runs in front of him, a ball bounces off of his helmet and he falls down? That's what I imagine that scrimmage to look like. Exactly. The 1s of ND's offense playing the 1s of their defense is no punishment at all.
  4. It's been terrible for a few years now, although it is just slightly better than when Keith Jackson provided the intro.
  5. I have to agree with Foppa here. Husker fans have been known as being the best and classiest because we stay to the end and, whether it's our team or the opponent, clap the winners off the field.
  6. I'm pretty sure if Nunn hangs on to the f'ing ball last year, NU not only competes with a rated opponent, they beat one. 1-3 rather than 0-4 vs Top 10 teams? There's still a bad pattern there. Whatever he is doing to prep for these teams isn't quite getting it done. There will be breaks like that in games, players dropping balls, etc. Needing every single one of them to go your way to win isn't exactly a recipe for success.
  7. Congrats on the re-found success with Saban. A game between Alabama and Nebraska would be great to watch. Luck in the SEC.
  8. From what I saw on Saturday, it looks like if we went up top a little bit to keep cornerbacks and safeties honest and make them play a little bit further back, we might have the running game open up a little. Of course, I'm not an expert but that's just what I saw.
  9. Good point. I think you missed the point. The final score was not indicative of how close the game was. To say anything else is comical. It wasn't a matter of "if our defense put together 3 stops" or anything else. The game was out of hand well before that point. This goes back to my comment about the only statistic that matters. We are definitely gravitating towards mediocrity if we hang our hats on the statistics of our offensive production and not the outcome of the game. Did they score when we needed them to? No. The first touchdown was a gift from USC as we got the 2 yards needed to gain a first down on a penalty, then we had 3 attempts to pound the ball 2 yards for the score. Booty didn't have a statistically awesome game, he didn't need to. That's one thing we agree on. He did what he had to do to win, hand the ball off to his backs and watch them explode basically untouched for 15 yards at a time. One last comment: I'm surely not living in the past. I was merely comparing this year's USC team (which the press has drawn comparisons, albeit in SoCal) to the fan-voted best team of all time. I think, given the press, it was a fair thing to do.
  10. I don't think it has as much to do with the offensive output as the defense. Holding them to no points is the only way I'll be able to get any sleep before the Iowa State game.
  11. Please refer to the Wake Forrest game. Army held them to less total offense and 100 yds less rushing. This has been going on for 2 weeks, and all of last year. Exactly. Plus Appalachian State is a real football team. Michigan was (and is perpetually) over-rated to start the season but it was no fluke. Saying things like "this is not App St or Ball state" really doesn't hold any water because they, or at the very least the former, would put up numbers as well.
  12. I have the same issue. Fans don't leave a game early, regardless of whether your team is getting blown out or the one blowing out the other team. This is not a personal attack on you but you do have to realize that, if we are to truly call ourselves the greatest fans in college football, we must act like it. Otherwise we're like Big 11 or Pac 10 fans. Leaving early shows a lack of class and character. We can't expect the players to give 100% if the fans don't as well.
  13. Don't fool yourself. The real score should have been 49-10. Scoring against USCs reserves in the 4th? Please. Keller puts up a ridiculous statistical game? Booty didn't have the stats but his team won. Which is, still, the only stat that matters. If this and that, it still amounts to us getting outplayed, outcoached and thus dominated. This really only adds to the hype surrounding this year's USC team as being "the greatest in the history of college football" which makes me sick. They would have been blown off the field by the '95 squad. And, in all actuality, if I'm Ball State right now I like my chances. We're like Louisville without the volume of offensive output.
  14. I stayed the entire time and clapped the teams off the field. Unbelievable how people left like that, it was almost as embarrasing as the beating we all witnessed. The Huskers need our support now more than ever.
  15. It was mentioned by a few people in here but I think you guys are giving Octavien too much credit. I was watching from North Stadium and saw him shift out of position multiple times. It just so happens one of those was a run up the middle (from where he shifted) for a touchdown. Of the LBs, I'd say Brandenburg and Dillard played the best. I've never been a fan of the Ruuds, they're too slow. I think Q was much better when he was younger, he's lost his swagger. With the holes that were opened up because of the shifting out of position and the flat out more talented players of SC, I'd think both Cosgrove's defensive schemes and the complete lack of fundamentals are equally to blame.
  16. While I agree with you to a certain extent, I think it's quite important to hold the AD and coaches accountable for what happens on the field. I stand by my team, regardless of the coaching staff (well, maybe not if Spurrier or Neweasel were here) and I will always be a supporter of Nebraska Football. HOWEVER, a few things need to be addressed. Why can't Callahan win against a rated opponent? Why can't he even have a team compete against a rated opponent? Why do we have a defensive coaching staff from the Big 11 that happily makes the once proud Blackshirts look like swiss cheese? It is not "progress" when, even against a very talented USC football team with much better coaches, Memorial Stadium begins to clear out midway through the 3rd quarter because of a blowout.
