You know, I find Perlman;'s remarks troubling in that he stated he asked for comments this sumer while they were renewing Pedersen's contract and only 2 members of the Athletic dept responded. If so why did he let the extension go through? If Perlman is n't fired he should resign by the end of the year. He's a big part of all these troubles. I'm glad you don't make the decisions. Perlman has many duties at UNL, and he is very good for the university. Getting rid of Perlman (which won't happen) because of this would hurt the university in more ways than I'm guessing you can imagine...most of which are, shockingly, more important than football. Definitely. Chancellors careers are NEVER judged by sports nor are they judged on hiring ADs. This is a responsibility most nerdy a$$ chancellors/presidents don't want to deal with and usually outsource to agencies.

Why would you criticize people as a MOD when some of these sources are accurate? It was rude what some people said to me. I know there are some people on here who appreciated the info but why would people bash some who claim to have sources. Some of us do have viable sources and I was proving it. A MOD shouldn't slam people with sources especially proven ones. That was my point...towards a MOD who should appreciate that I posted it here instead of my own website first thing this morning. I honestly gave Huskerboard.com the Real Scoop. Do you realize that there wasn't another source online or on the radio who had this info prior to Huskerboard.com???? That is a very big deal that a MOD should be bragging about not slamming me or others about. Huskerboard.com was the first place to go break the story....that is a big feather in our cap and you can make reach around or patting on the back jokes all you want. It is a great thing for everyone here.

I have no confirmation on 3 days or less. I will call my source tomorrow but he did say 2 weeks earlier today. I am not sure if that meant in 2 weeks or within 2 weeks. I think if we don't embarrass ourselves he will stay longer but if we lose this weekend and then to TX he is gone. I am interpreting the 2 weeks as that but he simply said "Callahan is gone in 2 weeks" I will confirm tomorrow and get updates.

Did you see my post at 11:30 am today Central time? It has been accurate so far and this was waaaaaay before anyone knew PUD was going today. I also posted TO was offered the job and Cook said "no more money" i misunderstood it's meaning but the source was correct. I also stated a press conference would come later today. At the time everyone thought it was "rumor" talk and said "we shall see". Some sources are very good on here you just need to know which ones have been consistent. Willy had some good source posts also. You as a MOD should know some of the sources are VERY reliable.

I will verify or at least be a backing source. I was told he would be gone in 2 weeks. I am not sure the specifics on waiting but I was told he is gone. Everything about Pud, TO and Cook was accurate 3 hours prior to the story breaking so I think it is consistent with that.

I have heard Petrino would leave also if given a great college team.....Like Michigan, or LSU if Miles leaves. he will demand $4MIL/year. Out of our league. Why is it out of our league? How is Alabama able to pay their coach 3.5 mil/year? How is Oklahoma able to pay their coach 3.5 mil/year? The markets are similar, aren't they? By the way, who do you think is an interesting candidate? Who do you think would fit in at Nebraska? I think we could pay that amount but we won't. I know we can afford it....but will they pay??? I just don't think they will when the boosters LOVE the idea of an in house guy or someone around 2.5 MIL. If I had a wish list I would get Jeff Tedford (yes he would leave trust me) Greg Schiano who can recruit FL Bo Pelini and a good OC Brian Kelly I do like the idea of bringing in other NU coaches for position coaches. What if we brought in former coach either NFL or college to be more like a team manager/recruiter and we got passionate coordinators. His teams play above their talent....but I am biased. I would like to see Jack Del Rio or Gruden if they ever wanted to come to college. I know we did an NFL guy before but a lot on this list were/are good in college. Just curious of your thoughts. This are very different from Cally who controls his offense where these guys will pass it off to coordinators. We could have Gil as OC and maybe Ron Rivera, Dave McInnis as DC. Curious of your thoughts??? It would allow one of the Coordinators to step in as Head Coach in 3-5 years.

The NCAA actually has no rule that forbids contacting coaches during the season. However, ADs typically don't do it. Rather, they hire a search firm, and that firm puts out "feelers" to coaches' agents. That allows the coach to say, "I haven't been contacted" or "I haven't spoken with..." and the AD to say, "I haven't contacted anyone". Somewhat silly, but it helps reduce the kind of "bad feelings" that can come from so-called "poaching". Absolutely correct, they will likely employ a search team first for an AD and then for a coach. If they come to terms on an AD soon then they will search for a coach but NO coach will be hired without a new AD and a search committee is always the first step.

The team is done for the year anyway. They will play for a chance at a bowl game but nothing can make things worse. It may help if they think they can save Clownahan's job. With a new interim coach it could help quit a bit.

From what I was told, he wants to help but does not want to assume the full duties. That is why I expect a very interim role and a two headed system. More like a consultant. The offer is to him and he has talked about it. Mike Osborne has verified this also.

Div 1-AA. I agree but be careful....Jim Tressel is from Youngstown St. and I think he has done a pretty good job.

I disagree. I honestly believe this team will win 8 games with a new coach,possibly more with a bowl game. A new staff and this team goes 8-5 with a bowl worst case. 10-4 best case.

True, if they didn't come here to represent NU football then they might leave and that is fine with me also. BC was not Vince Lombardi or Joe Pa so them backing just him is a joke if any of them do. Like I said, I doubt anyone will leave. It's not as easy as you think to just change schools unless you go to a Div 1-AA. If they want that then Adios!

I have seen this before, even when I played. Everyone is talking through emotion but I doubt anyone will transfer if BC is gone. It will depend on who they bring in but I doubt any big name will leave. What school will take them at this point anyway and they will lose a year of eligibility. Just emotions right now. It's to be expected. Heck, those kids feel in their heart BC isn't doing anything wrong and it's their fault.

No problem. It's easy to get these things confused. I was actually going to post in response right away but thought I'd read the entire thread in case someone else beat me to the punch. Turns out 2-3 people did but others were astute as well. So the other confirmable is that Osborne will be "consulted" for help in the matter. No word on whether he's officially named Interim AD, right? Correct. Osborne was formally offered the job and he is willing to consult on some issues but he DOES NOT want to be AD and they are trying a very interim idea. Nothing with formal interim AD but it looks like a possible 2 headed system for now. Osborne is still talking about specifics right now. Cally is officially gone for next year and will not likely be here all the way through unless he doesn't embarrass himself. That is the key. COZ is gone also.

Thank you. I did clarify my statement. I took my source saying that Cook "threatened to take his money away" I assumed it meant if something wasn't changed. Who would have guessed Cook wanted Pud to stay???? It was my fault from making the assumption from the source BUT the source was accurate. I read into it and I clarified it in the chat room also, that the source told me "he said he would withhold money". I used this point when others asked if he was giving money to buy him out, my info was only that he was withholding money. I assumed wrong. My bad. The info was right my mind was wrong.

Besides boosters aren't saying who MUST be hired or who must be fired. But they have every right to say this is unacceptable and I won't support this program with my $$. That is totally fair.
