That's is a good idea, use the same philosophy from a coach 50 years ago on Freshman. I am sure freshman's bodies haven't changed much and they aren't coming in more ready and more talented. If I was a recruit I would go to another school if I heard that. After a redshirt year I would want to play, especially if I was good enough.

That means zero progress in 3 years and we would have taken a step back by not winning the north. Have you talked to coaches or understand why NU isn't winning? Do you think Norman is a better place to go to school? between the weather, the small population, not being in a recruiting hot bed, and rabid fan base, and lack of patience with the coaches(assuming that cally is fired) I could see it scaring off many a large % of coaches. Oh, like Penn St or Norman, or Eugene OR, or Boise, or Tuscaloosa or Manhattan KS (when they were good and had a good coach)...you mean like those great weather, high population hot beds????? its not like great coaches are busting down the door to go to some of those schools either.... the others are clearly better situations. Well they seem to have good coaches now don't they and a lot of talent...so what is your point?? We can be good here and a good coach will be willing to come here. I am not asking for Les Miles or Bob stoops....oh yeah they weren't superstars until they got to those gigs huh????? Saban was only a head coach at a small school and then Mich St. before LSU. Les was at OSU and Stoops was just a coordinator. They are all great coaches. I want a guy on the rise, not an established coach like Spurrier or Erickson and young studs would be willing to come here. Belloti, head coach at Chico St and then a coordinator, Tedford a coordinator, Rodriguez was a coordinator. And BTW winning at Cal is harder then winning at NU. Their academics are amazing and getting qualified to attend school there is very hard and they are behind USC, UCLA, Arizona St and Oregon in recruiting just in their conference. sometimes those guys work out..... sometimes they dont. you make it woudnt like it would be so easy to find a great coach and that people would be fighting each other for the job. more than likely we would have to take a gamble on a guy with little to no HC experience. sometimes they work out, sometimes they dont. and if they do whats to say they wont jump ship, and then we are in the same situation. its not nearly as easy as you make it out to be I don't think it will be easy and it usually takes a school 2-3 guys before they get it right. This is our second guy and he was a proven gamble that is flopping. Anyway, I think we CAN beat Mizzou and until proven otherwise I am on the we will win band wagon from right now!! I am all in..

I think the topic was based on his running ability but he has been a good back for us overall and an above average runner. I think a lot of people are merely stating that his hype would have had him as the 79th best back on yds per carry. He should be a better runner but he is a decent back...just not great.

There is no beach to enjoy near Berkely unless you like 50 degree water or rocks. Thank you for the info. I was given this info from the strength coach for Cal but he obviously didn't realize all that info. Much appreciated.

Umm, defenses don't just snap into a different team? What evidence makes you think the defense will step up big? They haven't been a good defense for 4 years, and then miraculously they are going to be good???? At least we had a good showing of run blocking against Nevada (the second worst rushing defense in the country) and Lucky has rushed for over 130 yd average but there is no sign of the defense being even mediocre. Please tell me how you think it is possible,or are you just going on a gut feeling of hope?

Well he is a terrible head coach that is very true! But then again our coach went 4-12 before he came here....so like I said Norv is basically a good OC with even more years of being a bad head coach. I meant he is an average coach overall...but yes like Cally a bad NFL head coach.

That's funny, I thought about posting something like that but... statue n. If I am not mistaken this is more like a friend and ex than a current love. Maybe I am wrong. I think Purify on the field can handle the pressure, this is a tragedy but I don't see a negative effect. Off the field, a totally different issue. He is a perfect candidate for major self doubt and depression.

I understand your point but people have the right to express their frustrations and have a desire to improve. This is a message board, so you can leave if you don't like the opinions that don't match yours. If people weren't critical then everyone would be middle management and order taking pu$$ies. For some that is ok, for others it is a cop out. Champions always look for ways to improve and make sure they perfect what is already working....was part of our team doesn't need to improve?

The fan base isn't killing the team because most of the fan base didn't feel this way last year and they still lost 5 games. You don't need to always 'predict' your team is going to win to be a commentator or a fan...not at all. BUT you can't say you think we are going to lose as a commentator. As a fan I think the most you should say is that it will take our best effort to pull of this upset. Like this week for example. A commentator should be repremanded for talking like. Only radio talk show hosts should speak that way.

Three years after they fire Callahan. That is my bet unless we go after Norv Turner....LOL basically the modern equivalent but with more experience being average. I still like Jeff Tedford who only makes about $1 MIL per year in a very expensive place to live. I think if we offered 2.2 he would come. I would like it.

I totally agree. If somehow we could replace Coz, Pud and Cally we would be back in biz!!!...hear come the protesters. Although, NU football is in such great shape I can understand why people are afraid of losing Cally, because our program will be in a tailspin. Again, I am not saying he deserves to be fired, but if we want to be a top team and have 10+ wins down the road he will not lead us there.

It seems this board is taking his comments waaay out of contest. The question wasn't about Dynasties at all but rather TO's success and he decided to compliments others as well. The only question I have is if it is harder to stay at the top then it is to get to the top then when the heck are we gonna get to the top??? Not a criticism just a question I want him to answer. You got the right, the guy can't seem to do anything right in some people's eye. Bashing him because he didn't use TO or Davaney now thats pretty dumb. It is dumb that he is getting bashed. I also don't understand why the question of a dynasty came up. It seems that these reporters are getting fed a few questions in order to take the heat off of fans wanting what they had in the past. This is the 3rd time I can recall Cally acting as if the "good 'ol days" are gone forever in college football. I agree things will go up and down from time to time, but the one constant seems to be that coaches are either mediocre, bad or good. Teams that suffer have bad coaches, insert the right coach and bingo they get good again. Also, somebody forgot to tell LSU, FL, USC & OH St. that winning 10+ games and being in multiple NC games is over! They seem to have a decade of dynasty going for each of them.....and OU & TX seem to be posting records similar to the 70's and 80's NU teams over the last decade also.

QFT. Evidence? Big 11. Simply put, if you took the best team of '99-'02 they would have some tougher middle of the conference games but their would be ZERO competition at the top. They would still beat the 'average' teams and they would have little problems with the top 3 teams. If we had teams losing 0-1 games per year playing tougher top notch competition, then they wouldn't lose to mediocre competition. The conference is tougher only for the average teams. USC and LSU would have an easier time being undefeated in this conference today than they would in '99-'00. That is why I call it an easier conference. Before we had 1-2 teams as NC contenders, now we are lucky to get 1 a year.

Daniels 13TDs-4INTs 1 INT per 44 attempts Keller 9TDs-7INTs 1 INT per 26.5 attempts Also, FYI we each average 1.5 INTs per game on defense so there is no statistical advantage there. schedule I understand this argument but 3 more pics and 4 less TD's in 1 less game is saying that he isn't noticeably worse in the turnover department and aside from USC the schedule are comparable. I was only saying don't call him turnover prone when we are the same at QB if not worse.
