I haven't heard much about mertha lately. Is he still recovering from that injury, or is he just trying to learn the offense still? Anybody have any idea?

Is that a good thing? I would rather them be soft myself, just seems it would be easier for him to catch the ball. IDK, that's just me.

I think this section is good for the board. I personally can find those articles because I live in Lincoln. But I think that having them all in one place is really convenient. Plus its probably pretty nice for those husker fans who live out of town and don't know exactly where to find those articles. Overall...I love this board!! It gives me something to do while I'm at work. I know you're probably looking for some constructive ciriticism, but I don't have any right now. Therefore, you just get praise from me.

and they still do. First time I saw it was during the Southern Miss game. One guy in the student section was doing it. Then yesturday there was about 30 people doing it in our section again. I thought it was something to do with the kicker/kicking game (kinda like 'spirit fingers'). But hey, what the hell do I know? (this is a retorical question, not to be answered please)

I agree. I was just commenting on the fact that he's always got someone right on top of him when he catches the ball, and when he finally gets an open field he didn't know what to do.

That's true. I remember watching the one time he caught the ball with open space in front of him, he looked like he was lost. He started to dance and there wasn't anyone within five yards of him. Eventhough I should have probably been questioning what the hell he was doing all I could do was laugh. I also think he had a career long ten yard return (jk).

did anyone happen to notice what formation we were in when he sprang that 80+ yard td run? A little OLD SCHOOL I-FORMATION!!! goes to show, even though the wco is the way we're going to get things done in the future, a little dose of old school never hurts.

well...Its called blitzing! Usually when a linebacker blitzes they pursue the qb, and if the qb decides to go 10 yards deep he's not just going to let him go. That would be just stupid. Now if it were a D-lineman, then I would be concerned b/c they are usually taught, at least from my experience (which was no further than HS football), to not go further than 3 steps past the L.O.S. unless of course its a pass rush.

Once the fourth quarter comes around and we're still losing, it seems like they get together on the sideline and say "Well....we played pretty hard today, I'm tired, and we're losing. So what do you say we just give em' this one and get out of here?" IDK, maybe that's just the way I'm seeing it because I'm getting so damn frustrated with this bullsh#t...

Ok...but did we not have a new secondary coach last year? If so, they seemed to adjust just fine then, therefore it wouldn't be the fact that our secondary sucked. Either that or last year's secondary coach was just that good and we shouldn't have fired him. right?

Really? Is that why our secondary sucks all of the sudden? It would seem to me that the only thing different about our secondary is the loss of Pat Ricketts, the all-american corner(sarcasm). But once we switch secondary coaches, bam...they all just suck. Wonder why that might be? personally I like callahan, i think he's a good coach. But I'm not sure he made the best choices with his defensive coaches.

Ya know, I'm sure glad we got that f**k from Wisconsin to be our defensive coordinator.

I do know that he's supposedly living in a house off-campus with about three other people. Probably part of the show...but I really don't know.

I'm not really sure about much else. I know he was walking around my dorm a couple days ago introducing himself to people. Unfortunately, I wasn't one of those lucky people. But I think the producers of the show are trying to keep things under wraps as much as possible b/c I know just about as much about it as you do. The only reason I know he's joining the band is b/c one of my friends is in the band.

Gimmick or not, it gets our name out to the coasts, since the show will be on NBC, to hopefully get more students to attend UNL. Because if we don't have students, we don't have money for the fun things like football. As it looks, the tuition rates are dropping. So I think that as much of a gimmick as this might be, it will probably be worth it.

He is starting classes on Monday. He's in the Chem class right before me.

I think it would also help if those recievers (i.e. Amos vs. Kansas for an Int.) would come back to the ball and make adjustments. Not every ball is going to be thrown perfect, especially not with Daily in the backfield.
