Conditioning and training
Da Man replied to DingoAteYourBaby's topic in Rumorville: Hirings / Firings / What Ifs
Actually after the USC game it was reported by a couple newspaper's that the guys were never in full pads. They were always in half pads. It wasn't until that was made public that they started to wear full pads at least 1 day a week. It might be more now. I have no clue. As for not doing squat's etc, I have no clue. -
Yes but several 6-6 teams were invited to bowl games last year. If there are still slots available after the 7-5 teams have been awarded slots, we will most assuredly be offered a slot. We travel well and spend lot's of money.

Mike Shula = HC ???
Da Man replied to toothlessHusker's topic in Rumorville: Hirings / Firings / What Ifs
I'll pass on Shula. He's never proven to be a great HC or recruiter. -
Bo Pelini Flew into Duncan!!
Da Man replied to NEHUSKERS311's topic in Rumorville: Hirings / Firings / What Ifs
This has been posted by a mod b4...there are no rules permitting AD's from talking to perspective coaches about becoming a HC or an assistant at their school. That's a pro thing, not college. Also you are pretty naive if you think TO hasn't had some discussions about a possible replacement. He said he would be doing an on-going evaluation and make his decision to fire or retain Billy C at the end of the season. That doesn't mean he won't be prepared right away to have someone named to HC shortly after the firing announcement. -
I think if TO screws up then he screws up. To be honest any coach is a gamble whether they have been a HC or not. We are all human, so is TO. We could bring in URban Meyer and he could turn out to be a horrible HC at Nebraska. I think whoever he chooses needs to have the attitude of wanting to be here and embrace our tradition's. If he does that then we'll be fine. I'm fine w/whoever he decides to be HC except Billy C. Not to worry though Billy C will be gone. I figure as long as we are always competitive even in our losses then we'll be fine. However if the next coach does the exact same thing billy C does or worse then we'll be right back where we started from. However I don't see that happening. This is Nebraska. We have a man in the AD's office who knows and values our traditions.

Probably. We gave TO 22 years. I think we are patient as long as we are constantly competing for the National title and continuously ranked in the Top 10.

Per a big time Las Vegas donor

What's his spread on who he thinks will be the next HC at NU? -
What if he rehires Frank Solich? Okay, that is just not funny... ...alright...maybe it is. Though I must admit the same thing -- what happens when Pelini is NOT the next new coach If Pelini turns out not to be the head coach, we can all go back to these posts and call bs on all these so-called insiders. I'm sure there are going to be a lot of disappointed Pelinistas, if we hire someone else. They'll be the ones during the next coaching regime to remind us what a huge mistake we made when we didn't hire Bo. That won't be annoying. No, not at all. It'll be BO. Don't worry.

Alright Pelini fans..
Da Man replied to HuskerfaninOkieland's topic in Rumorville: Hirings / Firings / What Ifs
FWIW...Pelini's wife doesn't care much for Baton Rouge. She loves Lincoln and would jump at the chance to move back if it worked out her husband were to be HC. -

Da Man replied to kjstrouble's topic in Rumorville: Hirings / Firings / What Ifs
Calling this person a "big time Las Vegas donor" was how my source charactorized him. I know my source would not have passed this on if she had not believed it to be true. She knew that two other coaches were talked to (interviewed?), but she could not remember who he said they were (Not Turner Gill, as she would have remembered him). Someone from a Florida school (Southern Florida?) she thinks. Hope springs eternal, I know, even without proof. Probably South Florida's Jim Leavitt. I like Pelini better. -
Bo Pelini Flew into Duncan!!
Da Man replied to NEHUSKERS311's topic in Rumorville: Hirings / Firings / What Ifs
Maybe he did. However if the timeline was the day b4 the Texas game, he (Pelini) flew into Eppley Airport in Omaha and not Duncan. He did it for 2 reasons: 1st)TO was at Creighton in the morning. 2nd) Pelini knew there's no way to get through Duncan aviation w/o a member of the press catching wind of it. They practically have had someone posted out there for the past 4 weeks. He met up w/Osborne in Omaha and they drove to the Athletic dept on that Friday. After the meeting they went back to Omaha where Bo left for Baton Rouge and TO for Texas. Not saying your source isn't correct. However if the timeline was the Friday b4 the Texas game he flew into Eppley. I only know cause I have a friend who was waiting at Eppley to pick up his wife and Pelini (and who I can only assume was his agent) walked right by him. My friend said it was pretty unmistakeable that it was Pelini. He said a few other's noticed him, but for the most part not very many people recognized him. Take it FWIW. -
BC is as good as gone
Da Man replied to PowerofRed#1's topic in Rumorville: Hirings / Firings / What Ifs
Hopefully not as HC. If that's the case the Jets would probably go under and be asked to leave the NFL and never come back. -
What will the talk be?
Da Man replied to NMHUSKER's topic in Rumorville: Hirings / Firings / What Ifs
I can think of a couple of more places we could stick it... Why? i actually think that it is a good question to put out there. remember alot of people wanted to run Osborne out of town because he couldnt win the "Big" game. he almost left NU to coach at Colorado, and he was offered the HC position at the Houston Oilers.......thank god he stayed i will support TO's decision no matter what it is, as long as there are changes made on the defensive side of the football and give BC another year. i honestly think that is the only way that BC would be back next year, but i dont think that he is going to let Cosgrove go, so it is a mute point Huge difference! Osborne was still winning 9 games a year never losing more than 3. Billy C has only won 9 games once. That right there is reason enough to not give him another chance. Why make it worse when we can make it better? -

College Football Live says.....
Da Man replied to TLS2's topic in Rumorville: Hirings / Firings / What Ifs
My first choice would be Pelini. However Gill is a close 2nd. He'll restore order and tradition in a short period of time. Pelini would do it faster IMO. -
How long will it take TO to hire
Da Man replied to HANC's topic in Rumorville: Hirings / Firings / What Ifs
When he fires Billy C, I believe he'll name a new HC w/in 24 hours. I fullheartedly believe he has been talking to coaches behind the scenes. If he hasn't he's a dummy. Not really. However his hire would come swiftly so the recruits know right away who they'll be playing for and give the new HC an opportunity to talk and convince the new recruits to stay. I would be surprised if it was any longer than a max of 2 days. Most likely 24 hrs. -
Too legit to quit: Callahan won't resign
Da Man replied to HuskerfaninOkieland's topic in Husker Football
Here's my 2 cents fwiw...TO might just tell Billy C that he can come back if he fires COZ, Elmo, & Wags. However Billy C won't go for that. He's not going to cut loose his best buddy. My theory for this, is Billy C doesn't want to be responsible for putting his best bud in bad financial situation. I fully believe that COZ will have the hardest time finding employment as an assistant anywhere. Most schools or pro teams will look at his track record as a DC and see how bad he's done and won't want to risk the same fate. He might be able to gain employment as a position coach at a D2 school, but really no higher. Billy C doesn't want that on his conscience. This will force TO's hand to fire Billy C and a new HC, who will then fire anyone they don't want on their staff. Either way IMO Billy C isn't coming back. -
Did you all know you can go back and edit your posts to correct your spelling and grammatical errors? Then we don'ts have to looks like we don't have any edumacation. Sarcasm off.
