  1. actually i believe the family ties are to Coach Callahan, watched a video the other day saying BC coached Gabbert's uncle in college that sucks. guess he's gone, too
  2. Assuming Callahan's gone, yeah--it'd be exciting to see what happens with a new coach, or to see the interim coach pull together a staff like Pellini did after Solich was canned.
  3. I cannot understand how Weiss is #1. The guy has what? 9 years remaining on his contract? And we think $3 million is a lot to buy out Callahan.
  4. In hindsight, I guess the idea that Callahan "said all the right things" to a guy that never stopped smiling and just seemed to be so full of it that his eyes were brown (pedey) should have made me realize that he was just a scammer. We all knew it--but we were sick of seeing an anemic offense under Solich, and a QB that couldn't hit water if he fell out of a boat. We wanted to believe that a real offense could exist at NU--one that if we got down by 10 points, we'd actually have a chance at a comeback.
  5. I had my doubts when Kansas hung 40 points on us with a backup QB. But I figured it was cosgrove. Then, it kept happening. Below average teams were just too competitive against us, and we'd hear of crazy defensive schemes to take away a certain play that might be run 3 times a game. But....I figured it was cosgrove. Then, Ball State really made take a hard look. He's in over his head.
  6. Is that what he runs in Buffalo? I thought he passed a little more. My only concern, really, is that it took him forever to get the HC gig at Buffalo. I know that we don't necessarily want the "hot coaching prospect" that everyone wants, but if NOBODY wants him, is there a reason?
  7. Honestly, I can't say that I blame Gray--or any other recruit at this point--with the state that the NU program is in right now. I just hope that when the new staff gets in that they'll give them a decent look. I think Gabbert's got family ties to NU, so there's hope that he'd consider coming here for a new coach. This is only the beginning, though. We're going to see a lot fo them decommit.
  8. I feel like Obewan shouting at Annakin at the end of the movie.... "Billy...you were the chosen one! You were supposed to bring NU back to national prominence! You were so promising! We all believed in you! Why!!!????? Oh Why!!!?????" It's a damn crying shame...but that's just what happened. It didn't work out. He probably feels like he's been villianized. He wants to get the money that was due him in the contract. He also wants a chance to show that he can still win with his system in the hope that he can get a new job.
  9. why the hell would anyone care what deangelo evans thinks? He couldn't man up and stick it out when he was here--why would we want his opinion?
  10. These threads saying he doesn't care/didn't care are just silly. Yes. He cares. He did care. He took the job thinking he could do well in it--and we were all behind him, hoping he would/could do it. We were all excited about hearing of the top 10 recruiting classes. He's in over his head--and is probably very disappointed. But he also doesn't want to give up, in all likelihood.
  11. Honestly? I saw the offense moving the ball well last year, and figured it'd be better this year. I knew people were saying they were a top 15 team, but I had a nagging feeling. I have always had doubts about cosgrove--and told people that the first year he was here. Against Nevada, when I saw them take a 10-7 lead I was nervous, and got a little worried that maybe they weren't as good as advertised. But I was willing to put my doubts aside for a couple of games until USC came along.
  12. I'm thinking that we need to just start using the other teams' plays every week. Just have some cards made up when the players get to the game on Saturday morning...
  13. I just hope that TO has realized that a nice guy who runs runs runs the ball (solich) isn't what the program needs. He hand-picked solich and that wasn't the best thing in the world.
  14. I was willing to get married on game day, knowing what would happen on game night. Having said that, it was 10 years ago, they were playing Kansas, and it was a foregone conclusion that they would beat 'em by at least 3 touchdowns. No way would I have agreed to it the same day as a "big game".
  15. I just could never imagine TO or Solich doing it....but then again, no one would have done it to them, either--not even Switzer. I just think there was too much respect given.
  16. I agree. I say good for him. Hopefully he learned from the mistakes he made as a DC here and that has contributed to his success. It could also be that as an HC he has removed himself a bit from the DC duties. Anyone know if he's got a good DC under him? Or is he the DC?
  17. In the 4th with 4:30 left in the game, up by 20...why would aTm go for 2? Was fran just trying to be a tool or what?
  18. I hope to God that TO doesn't decide Bohl is the answer.
  19. If you've got the pic of the two of them, with signs saying they'd work for food, I'd like it.
  20. What ticked me off was that aTm only ran about 4 different plays for most of the game. The folks around me and and I were trying to guess which one it'd be. It was kind of stupid, because it was play after play of the QB faking a hand off and then keeping it for a 6-8 yard gain. Everyone in the stadium could see it, I have no idea why there was not a guy assigned to the QB on every single play. But it was my daughter's first husker game. I haven't been to a game in years, and we enjoyed every minute of it--even if they lost. I stayed until the game was over. It actually didn't take long to get out of the stadium because half the crowd was gone already.
  21. I was at the game...they moved the ball well in the first half, and I actually thought they had a decent chance. I had no idea Watson was calling the plays...but it does explain why the offense seemed to be moving a little better.
