  1. WOW!! Are you serious...Boise State better than Nebraska. Well, I guess if you like going undefeated and still not getting a sniff at a national title..or coaching in a conference no one takes seriously..or having limited facilities...or sharing your fan base with Idaho and Idaho ST. No, trust me...I was deployed in 2006 with an Aviation unit from Boise and our commander knows (albeit not well) there head coach. No one from Boise expects Peterson to stick around. Yes, I guess I could see him going to a PAC 10 school, perhaps UCLA, but not if Nebraska comes calling. I heard one Fox Analyst (Chris Landry) called Nebraska "a top ten coaching job". Now I don't know if I would go quite that far (but then again maybe I would). I guess by your way of thinking FL ST, Miami, and Notre Dame are "fringe top 40" programs also. Just because a team has a few tough years doesn't mean that the program is no longer attractive..especially with great facitlies, a great fan base, an AD that would be good to work for, and a lot of state money with no one to share with. I like Peterson (but I do like others more...and not Bo or Gill) but I think he would definitely be interested. Plus he'd get a chance to knock off his old boss coaching in Colorado...great for the NU-CU Rivalry
  2. That's a good question about why the seniors would be invited, but I don't think they call an official meeting to turn in their uniforms. But I agree that we can't just assume that it's to announce the new coach. Heard on 590 that meeting tomorrow was regarding player awards...would explain why seniors were invited.
  3. I get it about recruiting and certainly we don't want the debacle that was the Pederson coach selection process. However I would also say a strong head coach that can lead us back to the top is worth one recruiting class (plus new coach might bring his current recruits). Regarding Bo, with SOOOOoooo many calling his personality, integrity, and character into question (not to mention some defininte questions about his coaching and recruiting skills) one would have to think that maybe, just maybe there is something to it. I love the guy's fire and passion but after the year we just went through (and the years before that), I for one want to see DR T make the BEST Choice not the Quick choice (though I also have faith that he'll make the right choice...his reputation is at stake).
  4. It seems that everyone is in such a rush to get BO to town...WHY?!? Are there really a lot of other team beating down the doors to get to him. In fact, in the past many have been very cautious about this guy. HC at Nebraska is a great job that I think MANY coaches would be interested in (especially now with Dr Tom as AD). I understand that you want to get a new guy in quickly for many reasons but more importantly you want to get the RIGHT guy. Do we all want to be going through this again in a few years. I sure don't. I just hope that, down the road, we all don't regret how quickly we got a new head coach in . I hope that DR T really has considered all the options (P Johnson, Grobe, auburn DC, FL OC, App ST HC, etc. etc. etc....see there are lots to consider) . IF it is BO, I'll certainly wish him the best but Nebraska is a great opportunity and I just don't want to see us sell ourselves short.
  5. You know...if it wasn't for Notre Dame losing to Navy for the first time IN 43 YEARS!!! this @## whooping would be just that much bigger. I normally hate the Irish (and am happy to see them fall in the Abyss of college football also) but I am glad to see there incompetence take some of the glare off of ours. I wonder who will rebound more quickly? 76 points...worse run D in D1 football...41+ points per game ...Seriously, why wait.
  6. No Way he would come to NU..at least i dont think so but who am i to say Not only Meyer --- but no way any established coach at any school that has sniffed the top 25 the past few years would even remotely consider NU. NU is, I am afraid to say, not a major program anymore and is a fishbowl that most any coach would avoid. It is not a top 25 coaching job. So, do not expect a major coach to come here. the only hope to attract anyone that is proven is to have a disproportionate amount of $ thrown their way. Sort of like Alabama did. Yeah, Nebraska isn't a top 25 school anymore...kinda like Miami, Notre Dame and Florida State aren't top 25 programs anymore....Or back in the 90's when USC and Oklahoma (before Carroll and Stoops) weren't top 25 programs. Please, Nebraska is clearly a top 25 program and will be again assuming that TO brings in the right HC (and definitely not be Turner Gill).
  7. Actually, I was deployed last year with a Army Guard unit out of Boise and a number of the top brass in the unit were friends with a some folks in the AD. The scoop was that it was Hawkins who was to convservative and Peterson who was the mastermind behind there success. Hawkins goes to CU...wins what...2 games. Peterson leads BSU to the first BCS for a WAC school. Yeah, he can't coach. Anyway, he would be somebody to strongly consider.
  8. Seriously, I think tunnel vision for picking the next HC would be a terrible mistake. Bo has his strengths but has some serious baggage...personnel issues, anger problems, etc. He might be the a great choice but not the right choice I think T Gill is definitely the wrong directions. Unlike BO, T Gill just doesn't really have his own track record....unlike BO who has been a successful D/C in multiple places...However... I think a great guy to consider would be Chris Peterson, the head coach for Boise State. Great two year run as HC for a WAC school including getting BSU into a BCS bowl (where all he did was coach his team to a win over OU and there great D and big game coach Bob Stoopes in one of the greatest football games in college football history). Also was the OC during the period that got BSU on the football map. And he was nominated for top coordinator twice in his tenure as an OC. Would love to see what he could do at a a big time school with big time talent....Very Urban Meyer-like too....Young & innovative. Also come across as a guy with great character. Plus with TO as his AD...great voice of wisdom for a young guy to go to if need be. Anyway just a thought.
