It's just very rare that a coach of a major college team with a top 25 recruiting class would find a 5'9" 150 lb gem who had only been looked at by some Division II schools AND happened to be related to him. I'm sure there are plenty of other instances of this happening...

I'm not saying he can't turn out good, it's just that the odds are against it and it seems he got the scholarship more for his family than his merits.

Not sure about the Marlowe guy. His mom is Bo's 2nd cousin and he said he was only being looked at by D-II schools...seems like a questionable scholarship to me.

If we had made the conversion like you said, it would still be talked about because we still risked it by going for 2. It would be immortal that we went for it, regardless of whether or not the conversion succeeded or not.

They also have Kliff Kingsbury (Round 24), Tech's QB before Symons (Round 36). Could be quite the battle for the QB position.

It probably depends somewhat on what type of offense they run. I don't think many people would argue that Crouch could run a pass heavy offense better than Kliff Kingsbury, or that Kingsbury could be a dual threat QB that Crouch could be.

Since Pelini has got here, we've gotten 4 commits: a C2 Honorable Mention TE a TE whose father is on the coaching staff 2 guys (QB and OL) who were going to Oklahoma State until Okla. State pulled their scholarship offers.

Barely anyone outside of Nebraska, Oklahoma, and Louisiana knew who Bo was 3 weeks ago.

Sweet--we got a guy who was going to go to Oklahoma State before he found out they didn't have a scholarship for him! National title here we come.

20 points? That's problems stopping a team? I think Grobe's real problem was that his QB was starting his first collegiate game, and for proof of that QB's ineptitude, they only scored 17 points on the NU defense.

Gill's better than Frazier anyway. Look at these stats: From 81-83, Nebraska went 33-5. Gill was 28-2 as a starter, so Nebraska was 5-3 in games Gill did not play. From 92-95, Nebraska was 45-4. Frazier was 33-3 as a starter, so Nebraska was still 12-1 in games Frazier did not play. Also keep in mind two more facts about Gill: he only started 3 years as Freshman weren't allowed to play varsity in that time. Also, his two career losses were both to teams that won the National Title that year (Penn State 1982 on that catch clearly out of bounds and Miami 1983 on a game none of us will every forget). Based on these facts, I think Gill was better than Frazier. No one can use the excuse that Gill had better surrounding cast, as Nebraska was 5-3 in games without Gill, yet still a dominating 12-1 without Frazier. Who was the true difference maker?

Agree, and I think Grobe's salary requirements were a bigger problem than the fact that he wanted his own staff. Of course it can be spun however the two parties want... or the fact that TO said he wanted a defensive minded person, and thats what Bo is. I dont buy the having to hire NU assistants. I dont see TO making abig deal over barney cotton and marvin sanders(esp considering both coached here 1 year) Grobe is also a defensive minded coach so I don't think that reason carries much weight.

I'd like to see the Huskers play anyone decent out of conference. I understand you don't want to have a murderer's row of non-conference games, but some of this games are jokes. From for the 2009 and 2010 seasons, 6 of our ooc games are: Arkansas State, Florida Atlantic, Louisiana Lafayette, Idaho, Western Kentucky, and South Dakota State. That is embarrassing.

I think he was saying Dillard hates Bo because Dillard said Bo talked down about Nebraska when he was at OU recruiting Dillard. When someone brought this allegation up to Bo, bo said Dillard was just mad that he wasn't playing at OU. Other than that...no tension.
