  1. Read Jason's Blog at http://blog.jasonpeter.com/2007/10/18/its-...#comment-604708 That will give you an insight on how things were done under McBride and why full contact is important in practice and why emotion plays a big part in a successful defense.
  2. I don't think John Fricke who works for Fox Sports Radio would have broke the story on Fox yesterday if something wasn't going on behind the scenes. Today he has been very quite so he probably doesn't want to get burned twice but in the end things may eventually end up like they were reported yesterday and in this thread. Like someone said when lawyers are involved sometimes things take time. If want is being reported is true then it would make sense to do it either early next week or the week after the Texas game. Of course if NU wins the next two games (not likely however) then you really would have a story. I totally agree. this is a huge class. if we can keep them all, talent will not be a problem at all We won't keep them all. Even if we'd had a good season and none of the upheaval had occurred, there'd still be decommits. sure... but if we could keep the bulk of the class.... say everyone but gabbert and another, but kept everyone else and picked up robinson(I dont know why, but I feel we have a better shot at him now then before) then I would be thrilled i'm on the same page as you here...i think w/ T.O. back in charge, it'll push some recruits over the edge to come to NU...i actually think that Gabbert is more of a solid commit now that T.O. has taken over. Actually, I think Gabbert is as good as gone. The pounding by Mizzou seems to have pretty much sealed that one. He's a practice field warrior when the pressure is off, but seems to fold in game situations so don't worry about this one too much.
  3. The article was written in the Daily Nebraskan which is on the front page today. http://media.www.dailynebraskan.com/media/...l-3040666.shtml If the quotes in the article are not made up then it does give a different light on what Callahan truly believes. As I have said before I wasn't in the camp to fire Callahan as I believe the problems are defensive related and could be fixed if a coaching changes were made on the defensive side. Granted our defense wasn't going to be as good as last year with the loss of 4 starters on the line however it shouldn't be this bad. Can you describe what was claimed, provide the supposed quotes or provide a link? There's no way to evaluate your statement. Heh, it's like watching a "political commentary" show.
  4. Read the lastest article form the Daily Nebraskan. If the quotes in that article are real then I have lost complete respect for Callahan. Stating the obvious, but a few more blowouts like the last two week may force his hand. IMO I doubt that even blowouts would cause a midseason firing. BC is hear until after the season, possibly longer. Even though TO was brought in, as far as anyone knows, it was only to replace the AD not Callahan. TO may come to the conclusion that only new defensive personel are needed. If we come out the remainder of the games and score points, then BC's job may be safe. A defensive staff with some creativeness, coaching ability, and motivation skills could go a long ways. BC will have to impress the $hit out of TO though, for BC is not an appendage of TOs like he was PUD. Most inportantly is these players know between now and the CU game, their coach's job and the rest of the coaching staff's jobs depend on how well they play. There is a lot riding on their shoulders. Can they really play with inspiration and fire this weekend? Right now Husker Nation has to start praising and supporting them for every positive thing they do on that feild this weekend and every game after that. If they convert on 3rd down or when a defensive player runs after the other team player with the ball. Fans need to show their support.
  5. There are at least 5 of them (all seniors) and their attitude has spread to the enitire team so I guess it's not a surprise this team has totally fallen apart. Referring to your "He's BACK", it does sound like that has to do with TO but i just looked at Corey's Myspace and his last login was 10-6 which would mean either he knew something long before we all knew or its something else.
  6. John Fricke on Fox Sports broke the orginal story as he said he had confirmation from 4 different sources within the program. However he didn't elaborate who they were. Apparently something happened and the deal fell through. I think I Bleed Red said this whole thing may not take place until after the Texas game anyway if I remember correctly. The bad thing about all of this is that it may allow for some decent recruits to go elsewhere unless NU starts being honest with them on what is really going to happen.
  7. I Bleed Red probably new what he was talking about. However something happened as reported on another board at http://65.98.70.3/vbbs/showthread.php?t=44690&page=8 The sources were reliable according to John Fricke. It's possible Callahan and company are holding out for a bigger buyout offer and won't resign until they get what they want. Personally the faster things are done the better it will be for recruiting. NU is already potentially losing key recruits. Osborne wants to run a spread offense similar to what Meyer is doing at Florida which requires a mobile QB if you have listened to any of his interviews the past few days. Personally I have nothing against Callahan and wish he had the strength to fire Cosgrove but he wouldn't do it which is going to cost the jobs of many on his staff except for a few. I think this is the button you were trying to hit
