  1. I remember where our Dbacks were rated in the top 10. If thats the case lets go mano er mano and load the line. That should stop the run and put more pressure on the qb right??? STILL LOVE THE HUSKERS in So Cal GBR
  2. That's the key two more wins. Have you noticed a pattern same as last year with Solich the big games the skers kinda smell but the easy games arent quite as bad. This year may be in the crapper but with more good recruiting the future looks brighter Maybe we might even create a negative pressure void next year but IMO the recruiting will start to make a difference hopefully on both sides of the ball. But its like the coach says, 3-4 plays are making the difference in the game and I definitely agree. I dont think the coaching is less effective this year than last just a huge difference in viewpoint. The bad thing is and I dont know if Benard has brought it up yet or not but the KSU option was working good especially since our D couldnt tackle very good saturday. GBR
  3. When I watched the video on Huskers.com Dailey was doing better at looking off the Dbacks at times. He will have to keep doing that this game too. Benard, I didnt mean that as a definite just hopeful thinking. If they can keep that kind of intensity and focus the rest of the games I will definitely call that improvement. As long as we post more points that the opponent. GBR
  4. I was just kiddin I do hope they go to a bowl game just not completely across the freakin country in thug land yeah right like i have a lot of room to talk
  5. As long as Dailey keeps improving and decreasing his pix he should get more acclaim for his game and if he doesnt we dont have to worry about getting bowl tickets. It would be good to go to the Holiday Bowl but Im being selfish ITS CLOSE TO ME
  6. If you made 1.5mil a year before taxes you could where whatever you wanted too. Do you confuse wearing red with having a passion for football, bernie. Anyway, the skers can win with total team effort and so far that hasnt happened in any game. I still think they are capable of playing some really good football but the D definitely has to step up this week and stop the run completely. If the O can sustain multiple drives anything is possible. The way we have played makes predicting the game pretty difficult.
  7. THE LIVER IS EVIL IT MUST BE PUNISHED hows that for topical kinda like cetacaine spray
  8. When someone says balanced they mean good teams. Talent definitely is the deciding factor. Two equally talented teams with one balancing pass/run and the other just one, the balanced team should win all things being equal. Skers had superior talent throughout the 90's and recruited the perfect option athletes. NOW, all that being said; defense wins championships. IF a superior defense can shut down either offense or both then that team will win. Look at the 95 97 teams Great defense and real good offense and the important thing being that those teams could pass enough to keep the other defense honest. nuff said I think Callahan has the right system he just needs the people to run it well. Given enough time I think the current Huskers could run it well too. GBR
  9. I think it is a communist plot to weaken the central portion of the country by demoralizing its citizenry with losses in college football. Nah just kiddin' I thought being 7 pt underdogs was being generous but with TT being a team with an offense we are trying to be similar to those are the points we will be putting up on teams next year and beyond. I just wanted to say but its a transitional year with lots of changes. Dont really like it and it is painful but just have to look to the future and hope for the best. A coaching change after this year no matter how dismal isnt warranted. IMHO. A good article by blankman http://groups.yahoo.com/group/shootingpointblank GBR
  10. Yeah thats what this country is all about. Opinions are just like asses. you know the rest. Its definitely cheaper to pay 29 bucks than a trip to Lincoln but it isnt the same as being there. Bernard, I definitely feel your pain. My son asked me where Husker football went . We watched the 95, 97 replays and those teams were definitely smashmouth no doubts. During each game this year I have said but I will still cheer them on. This offense doesnt compare with the option type game and I know its hard to grin and bear it. Patience isnt my longest suit either. I think this offense will prove to be versatile and hopefully partially smashmouth. I know the BLACKSHIRTS are. Check out Blankmans take on the game.
  11. A win is a win yup sure made my game pix way off. Rose colored glasses. But still breathing and bleeding HUSKER RED GBR Same finish as the Pitt game! Nailbiter but what the hey got my $29.95 worth .
  12. Does everyone really think the KU game will be a close game?
  13. Huskers 49 KU 10 NU Rushing 289 Passing 340 GBR ka ching
  14. junior4949, You make a lot of good points. Hopefully, the skers continue to improve and eliminate the mistakes. I think the Husker Coaches will attract the quality of athletes we have enjoyed in the past. And the players we have now will get better and better (see Grant Wistrom chant). We have got more 4 and 5 star players this year and next to help us catch and surpass the okie and tex teams. I think with the players and Coaches all getting more acclimated to each other and their system we will begin to overpower people maybe just not as much this year. This offense once it is clicking will prove more versatile than the option. Our option was great when we had qbacks who could roll out on play action and make big plays with their arms and legs. With the WCO the qback is still crucial but can run as a last resort after making his reads. I think Coach Callahan truly will have a more balanced offense which keeps the defense honest. I really believe we won't struggle nearly as much as ND has with their version of the WCO. Their athletes dont seem to be picking up the nuances as quickly as our players. Yes, we have to cut down mistakes and make better reads and hold blocks and etc. but it looks like there is improvement every week. The Pitt game was definitely closer than it needed to be but the conditions didnt help. The short passes will help eliminate the environmental challenges that the midwest endures each fall and winter. Good footing is essential for both defense and offense for both teams and we should survive this first year ok IMHO. We have the easy part and that is just supporting our team. GBR
  15. I think the running backs needed six inch cleats. On Husker turf Cory would have run circles around the Pitt D. But both sides were slipping and sliding. 6 inches of rain has that capability. Thats more rain than I see here all year. The Blackshirts played great and except for the one run back I think the special teams did ok (oh yeah the early hit). That last pass into the endzone definitely ruined my best husker underwear though. I felt JD was throwing some excellent passes especially the dropped ones. A win is a win. GBR
  16. One last thing on this subject from me. I believe Dr. Tom tried to recruit great players and even though they may have had problems in the past he would overlook that and try to help them grow into upstanding young men. Nobody can make me believe different unless Dr. Tom himself said he only recruited to win games. The 1995 team had more problems than most but who can argue about what they accomplished. LP didnt even need to play in the Fiesta for a win but I know Dr. T just wanted to let him play for an increased chance to get drafted. After that it was up to LP. If everyone from around the country would send in articles from football players and programs in trouble the server would probably burn up. He who is without sin cast the first stone. I think a lot of people forget about that and try to cover up their own shortcomings. GBR Hemet isn't HELL but you can see it from here.
  17. Dave, I live in a small town called Hemet about 20 miles southeast of Riverside(80 miles east of L.A.). It was smaller in 1984 when I moved here but low housing costs have made it grow but it still reminds me of some of the towns in Nebraska except the mountains. Hope to hear from you more.
  18. Dear Dave, Thanks for addressing all the issues that needed answering. I don't get the LJS anymore. The Husker HotPak got to California the day after they played the next game and I get better coverage on the web with Huskers.com and all of the great chat boards and sports sites.
  19. Didn't Solich recruit Mr. Incognito? Is that cleaning up the program? There have been other problem children in the past. Two Heisman trophy winners weren't given good citizenship papers with the HT. J. Rodgers needed some pull by B. Devaney to stay out of jail and on the team. The top twenty teams all have people that you wouldn't want marrying your sister/daughter (son) etc.. Look at BYU or AFA with the problems they are dealing with today. Even teams without as much publicity or notoriety recruit people that have problems. Granted, Miami recruited that guy that had 15+ felony arrests whoops. Is that win at all costs, depends on your point of view. Gary Barnett and Rick Neuheisel come to mind also. Have problems leave the program and go to another. You can rant and rave all you want about Nebraska football and the ills they may be suffering right now. I will always be proud to be a Husker born and raised, and having lived in California for twenty years I'm still proud of being a HUSKER GBR Nobody on this board or any other board except the Board of Regents makes the determination of who stays or goes. I think the majority of the fans in Nebraska and around the country are a little more inclinded to give Coach Callahan the benefit of the doubt for more than two years.
