  1. It was a good post. It explained in detail why Turner would be a good Coach, ESPECIALLY at Nebraska. I put my blinders away many years ago. I also live in a realistic world where my ENTIRE life does not revolve around the Cornhuskers. In saying that I love the Cornhuskers..win or lose but I also enjoy what I have. Turner Gill is the type of football Coach I want to lead my team. Pellini would also be a nice fit. I'd love to have them both back together which I don't really see happening. I also respect Dr. Tom enough to do whats right. I'll let him choose and respect his decision. If you call that blinders than IMO it show sthat your a new comer to Nebraska football and don't really understand what it means to be a Husker. Ask any former Husker athlete of the last 25 years ..Defensive or Offensive what Turner Gill means to them and this program. I'll bet you won't get many complaints about him becoming Head Coach. Besides some of us need blinders so we don't read all the BS spread from people who have their Eyes Wide Shut! Mouth wide open..and Brain in Neutral. IMO Nebraska is LUCKY to have at least 2 fine men wanting, willing and able to lead this team. I agree 100% with everything, EVERYTHING, you said here. Thanks for saying what I wish I could have said so succinctly.
  2. Well Snork, that makes you a dork. Tom Osborne is the greatest coach of all time in any sport. Period. To say or even think otherwise is blasphemy. And even if he completely failed in these tasks as an AD in the years ahead (which he won't), this is about Greatest COACH of all time, not AD.
  3. I love that one! Yeah that one is the pick of the litter . . . so far.
  4. After thousands and thousands of posts calling for these guys heads and WORSE, you're gonna bag on the idea of having fun with some signs. Come on Ayatollah Bill Callahan has a nice ring to it! Some levity around here right now is not a bad idea. Just what the doctor ordered.
  5. Just because there can never be enough, here's a couple more: Axe Bill Callahan After Bill Callahan (picture of a rainbow or something) Ayatollah Bill Callahan About to Boot Callahan Always Bad Callahan Callahan: A Bad Coach Geez, we could give every fan in the stadium a different sign.
  6. I am not worried about Rose. But it looks like now might be a chance to get rid of this buffoon. The timing just happens to coincide with the Callahan debacle. And with Tom at the helm, I am not really worried about the real worries. Thus, I can kick this Rose dog when he's down. Rosie, you need to limit yourself to baseball and otherwise stay off the radio waves.
  7. Uh no he doesn't but Rose has got to go.
  8. as mediocre as rose's. to call Rose's broadcasts mediocre is . . . well . . . definitely looking through rose colored glasses. Tom didn't make any commitments to keeping Rose around so Rose can definitely go NOW.
  9. Since at least the Ball State game I think we all knew it would come to this. We've been through a lot, a few more weeks isn't going to kill us. Keeping your word is damn important. It's the first and most important step to restoring the order. Yeah things are bad. But firing these coaches a couple weeks sooner is not going to make a big difference either way. It only would make Tom look bad in the coaching fraternity and say that his word means nothing. Then how does Tom convince new coaching and player recruits that his word means anything to them in these critical days ahead. Tom is taking the right and only acceptable approach. Tom has been around the block once or twice.
  10. Osborne is thinking long term about what is best for the program. How this season ends up or the next recruiting class fares are not our main problems now. Patience.
  11. I don't like Rose. I could add some adjectives of the negative sort but if I got started down that track I wouldn't be able to stop. I've been listening since Bremser and Rose it the worst of them all since. IMO even worse than Swain. Swain was boring but at least an even keel boring. There are many things I don't like about Rose but what I just can't stand is that when a big play or a critical play happens, as in when you most want to know what is going on, the guy starts yelling, which would be okay, if you could understand what he is saying. So then you're sitting there wondering what just happened. Was it Rose going all hyperbole over a 1 yard gain? Did it go for a touchdown? Was it an interception? a fumble? You just sit there waiting until Adrian recaps what happened once Rose has shut up. As far as Rose the man, maybe he is different off the air, but whether it be weekday mornings on KFAB or during the game, his arrogance and condescension toward others makes me want to puke. It wouldn't be so difficult to take if this guy wasn't such a loser. I probably shouldn't be so critical though. Other than passing through a room or store where his mouth is blaring, I stopped listening to his Husker broadcasts about three years ago. See no reason listening to a guy I can't stand and can't understand when the game play is on the line. Rose has got to go!
  12. I can't really argue with you comparing coaches and determining who's better or worse. I just am not qualified. But I would just suggest that we had better take a wide look and not exclude groups from consideration. Whether they be: --former players and coaches --newer up and coming coaches --"proven" headcoaches --hell maybe even NFL coaches (actually this is one group that's tempting to exclude These are risky days for NU football. While I hope and have great confidence in Tom, one of the possible outcomes no matter who he hires in his best professional judgement, is that this thing could fail miserably again. These are risky days for NU. The university needs us as loyal fans more than ever. I am probably preaching to the choir but again we need to all stick together no matter what. Hopefully good times but we had better be prepared just in case.
  13. Any coach we hire is a risk. There is no way to totally eliminate it. Past performance is no guarantee.
  14. I trust T. O. know better than I to make a determination on Gill. But by the sentence above alone... we should have never hired Tom as head coach. Gill has more success and time now than Tom had when he was named head coach. Gill is in the running. Of course, it all depends on who else gets considered and how Tom sizes them up. But Gill should not be denied out of the box.
  15. If it were my decision, I would give a slight nod to Gill over Pelini. For those of you who say anybody but Gill, I flat out don't understand where you're coming from. Enlighten us as to why you say this. Something more than "I heard he was lazy in college" or "I just don't feel he's ready yet." And how about something more than "we don't want to limit the search to only former Husker coaches and players." The fact that no one seems to come up with a concrete reason for this "No consideration should be given to Gill" attitude is puzzling. Gill has demonstrated on every level he has coached at thus far that he is a great coach. The fact that he has a history at Nebraska doesn't negate his accomplishments and acumen. He deserves consideration if in fact he wants the job. In the end, we can all have confidence that Tom will make what he believes is the best decision for Nebraska. And his best decision, in all probability, will be much better than anything any of us can come up with. He won't play favorites nor deny viable candidates consideration.
