  1. Rex was a four-star by Rivals, a three-star by Scout. Here's his initial writeup by Chamrock in our Recruiting section. ESPN had him pegged pretty good: Thank GOD those odds rose quite a bit. Also, LOL at no early offer from Texas, A&M, etc. They really screwed the pooch on Rex. Kinda like 'Bama and Auburn didn't throw in on Ameer Abdullah hard and heavy in the early going. Those are two HUGE gets by this staff, right outta these schools' backyard.
  2. Suh "got injured" because someone (Asante?) was banged up pretty bad, almost out on their feet, and he wouldn't leave the game. I am totally drawing a blank on who it was, but it was a big collision and our guy was loopy. They were trying to get him off the field but I think he was seeing little birdies, not his teammates. IIRC, the injured guy was in the secondary, on the right side of our defensive formation. I really want to say it was Larry Asante but I can't be sure. Suh went down, but they sent two groups of trainers out, one to Suh and the other to the guy who was really injured.
  3. That PENIS sign is hilarious. Best gameday punk of all time?
  4. The JournalStar has a lengthy article on this situation today. Lauren did call her mom before calling the police, as expected. I would imagine mom calmed her down, then got her prepared to make the call. The article also expands the time frame between accident and self-report to the police. LINK
  5. #5 was injured several times in the second half. I haven't finished watching the game on DVR, but I remember thinking on Saturday that I wanted to count how many times he had to get helped off the field.
  6. It's going to continue to be that rotation we're seeing. I presume Ankrah will continue to start opposite Stache, but we'll continue to see plenty of Williams and Martin. There was no dropoff when the "backups" came in, and I put backups in quotes because they're really just "not starting." They play a ton. Martin was let loose to go get Cousins last week, and it was one of the first times he's been set free all year - same with Stache. That mushy "contain" thing they do too often makes me want to vomit. I wish they would just let these guys pin their ears back and blast the QB early and often. So what if he breaks free for 15 yards every couple of plays? Every other play we're going to tag him pretty good, and soon those 15 yard scrambles are going to be two yard scrambles. It's hard to run fleetly downfield when your ribs are half staved in. Bo runs a smart defensive scheme. It's just not aggressive. I'm a big fan of McBride's heavy-pressure defense. I wish we would go back to that.
  7. What does your username mean? My guess is he drives a Peugeot. My brother-in-law drives a Peugeot. But then again, he lives in France.
  8. I thought he explained his point pretty well. What are you having trouble understanding?
  9. According to Randy York, Terrence Moore was excused from practice today for a "private family matter." Don't know what's going on. But my heart goes out to you, T-Mo.
  10. Then you've come to the right place. Bunch of football addicts right here. Welcome aboard! It is ABOUT TIME we got someone around here who isn't afraid to share their opinion.
  11. Well, I'm not going to tell you you're wrong about entitlement. I don't presume to know what goes on in her head. But I've met her, several times, and she doesn't come across that way.
  12. Hmm..... champaignhusker, Peoriahusker..... Noticing a definite pattern here. Welcome aboard, fellas! Make yourselves at home.
  13. In-person best game - 1992 Colorado, in the sleet and rain and freezing cold, pounding Buffy into submission. VERY close second - the last twenty minutes of the Ohio State game. Favorite game all-time (not in attendance) - 1995 Fiesta. Of course.
  14. You joke, but Rex only has one fewer tackles than one of the guys who earned a Blackshirt today. God's-honest truth.
  15. Just because she made a series of poor choices doesn't mean she's not living in the "real world." She's also made some outstanding choices in her life. Where does that put the real world theory? I've been arrested, handcuffed, and taken to jail. I'm neither rich nor spoiled; I'm just a pretty regular guy that, one time, made a really poor choice. Knew better, too. Was raised right by good parents. Did it anyway. Sometimes you just have a stupid moment. Lauren doesn't deserve your sympathy, and I'm sure she knows that right now. She got herself into this mess and she's going to have to do the work to get herself out of it. But from what little I know of her, she's the kind of person who will make it right.
  16. If Crick didn't get one it would be a crime.
  17. It was obvious. I'm going to rewatch the game and count how many times #5 got "injured." The guy sitting next to me said #5 got hurt again and was going to walk off the field, but the Michigan State coaches told him to get down, get down. I don't grudge them if they fake injuries. It's within the rules. The point of the hurry-up is to wear out the defender, and that's legal. If I can legally prevent that as an opponent coach, I'm going to do it. As a Husker Fan I don't like it, but what are you gonna do? What?!? No, it isn't. It's specifically spelled out in the Coaching Ethics section. It's also mentioned under the "Injury Timeout" section. It's difficult to enforce as it's almost impossible for a referee to make that determination, but it looks to me like a ref could call an Unsportsmanlike Conduct penalty for it. OK, it's against the rules. The single most obvious faked injury I've seen was Suh vs. Oklahoma in 2009. Even though it's in the rulebook, if they didn't call it against Suh, they're never going to call it.
  18. Per Christopherson: HuskerExtraBC Brian Christopherson Asked about injuries to Ciante, Yoshi and Martinez's hand? Bo just said some guys got dinged but there was nothing "long term."
  19. I think it's easy to say that, and I hope I would, too, but have you ever been in a situation like that? Everyone reacts differently, and for every person we had post "I had an accident and I stopped," we'll have another who could say the opposite. It does not excuse what she did. But it's not wholly out of the realm of possibilities that you would freak out and react wrong. Like I posted above, I was about instantly high on adrenaline when I bumped that guy a month ago. I cannot imagine how crazy/high/freaked out Lauren must have been.

  21. This whole thing makes me ill. I feel terrible for the guy involved - he probably had some minor thing wrong with his bike so he pulls over to check it out, on a ride on a nice day, everything's cool, and BAM! he's got a broken leg, AND the driver takes off. You have to feel terrible for him, and you have to hope he heals up clean and quick. The other rider, the one with scrapes and bruises, you hope is OK right away. I shudder to think what happened to their bikes. Insurance is great, but those bikes have to be mooshed. That's heartbreaking. After that, you have to feel horrible for Lauren. Yeah, she caused all this, and yeah she really made a bonehead move, but she is not a bad kid - she's a kid. And I feel absolutely wretched for her. Feel terrible for Coach Cook, because not only is this his star setter, it's his own daughter. And now her worst moment is out there, public knowledge. Feel bad for the team, too. Uncertain about what's going on, feeling bad for their teammate, blah. Everything's messed up for them because of one moment's distraction.
  22. You guys are doing a bang-up job.
  23. Point made. Some players sometimes show concern for other players who are injured. That doesn't mean anything to the general thrust of the conversation we were having, but I'll agree with this statement.
