  1. 2002 – Tied for first in Big Ten 2004 – Tied for first in Big Ten 2009 – Tied for 2nd in Big Ten – Ohio State won and Iowa tied with Penn State but beat PSU head to head Would these count? So three, from the closet Iowa fan. Same number as Nebraska, in our worst ten years in the last 50.
  2. I drive a Dodge. That's probably why it popped into my head.
  3. By the way, bigg10, one of those rep points was from me. I hit the wrong button.
  4. Very well said. This is where I'm at. If I knew it was a violation, no matter who the player or how little the cost, I would not do it.
  5. You're thinking of this from the perspective of a program with no history. From 1900-1999, nothing at all distinguished Iowa football from Kansas football, Indiana football, Illinois football, Missouri football, etc. It's just another football program, and until you win a championship or three, you're never going to be on equal terms with Ohio State or Michigan or Penn State. No I am looking at it from the view of, I would rather have a 60's GTO and a new caddy cts. Now given one or the other I would take the cts, as I can get more use out of it today. The GTO would be cool, to show or brag that I have one, but not all that useful or pratical by todays standards. The problem is, your program doesn't have a new caddy. You have a Dodge Caravan. You've been OK the past ten years, which coincidentally are your best ten years in the last fifty. We've been horrible in the last ten years, which, coincidentally, have been our worst in the last fifty. Yet despite your best decade and our worst, we have nearly the same records over the last ten years. In just the last three years, with Nebraska coming off a coaching turnover and Iowa having the benefit of continuity from Ferentz, your "better team" has exactly one more win, one less loss than Nebraska. So your Cadillac analogy is nullified both by your team's lack of overall success and by the fact that the team you're attempting to position yourselves as "better than" has been, as far as records go, equal to your team. It's a baseless analogy. Further, even in Nebraska's worst decade in the last half-century, we've played for three of the last five conference championships in our conference. Granted, until 2011 the Big Ten had no such game, but even if it had, Iowa would have played in how many? One? Two? You tell me, and cite the years. Even further still, as you are fascinated by the last decade, Nebraska has played for a National Championship in that decade. We all know Iowa has not, and has not been close. So again, there's no comparison. I can dig up more numbers if you'd like, but I can guarantee you that Nebraska's are as good, if not better in every single category. And that's just on the field. If you want to talk revenue, fans, sellouts, any metric you want, Nebraska eclipses Iowa. Every single one.

  7. That's where they're going to get LOIC. It's not only whether they did or did not know, it's whether they should have known. The stuff about Pryor they should have known. Not knowing, or knowing and taking no action, is going to screw them.
  8. The difference is that our lows are 5-7 and 6-6 years. Iowa's are 1-10 or whatever. A "good" year for Iowa is to play in a respectable bowl. A "good" year for Nebraska is to win the another championship. Even in the last ten years, Nebraska's worst in 40 years, the programs are simply comparable. Over the course of history there is no comparison. We're talking the difference between Iowa and Ohio State or Michigan. There is nothing wrong with Iowa. It is a fine school with a fine program. But it is not equal to Nebraska in any way, shape or form.
  9. Didn't they tell you how deep the lines were? I would think that would be one of the key elements of marking. It doesn't do you much good to know where the lines are but not how deep. I'd call both Cox and OPPD back and ask to speak to someone in management who has a clue. How deep are you digging? Less than a foot, right?
  10. Brad, you need to call the Digger's Hotline, or at the least go to their website: LINK They'll help you find your lines before you dig.
  11. Eh. I suppose I can see that interpretation, now that you mention it. I think Cody and Sipple have a pretty good relationship, though. I really doubt he's saying that about Cody.
  12. If anything it was a shot by Green at the program, if you want to interpret his comment about whatever's going to get him to the next level that way. That's a pretty pessimistic way of viewing that comment, though, and I don't buy that interpretation for a second, but that's the only "shot" you could see there.
  13. How is that an underhanded shot at Cody Green?
  14. Loved this part of that article: I've only watched both Orange Bowls all the way through once, when they were played live. I've seen bits and pieces of them on YouTube, but never the whole game. And I had recorded the Missouri game but I lost it off my DVR before I could watch it. I was there, live, when Roy torched the Tiggers, but you see such a different perspective on TV. Should be fun.
  15. I don't even have to point out the fallacy of this. You know what's going on. It'll get better. It sucks now, and it'll suck for a while, but you're still Ohio State. Nothing is going to change that.
  16. But if you believe #2, you are the equivalent of a Husker fan who believes Tom Osborne never did anything wrong. And sadly, we know that's not the case.
  17. I know it's not but what in Gods earth gave someone the idea to make a shirt like this?bi could see Ohio State, Michigan, or even Penn State but Iowa.....really!!! I guess they want to capitalize on the "big rivalry." Like someone said, there's Hawkeye gear in the background (where Hawkeye gear belongs, by the way), so this is probably being sold by someone in Iowa. You know how those Iowegians are.
  18. * - not an officially licensed shirt by the University of Nebraska.
  19. I'm gonna edit mine to put that #1. I have it at #2 now, only because I saw the Kick&Pick live. That really was a momentous play. I think people forget the history of college football, and that's sad. It's a big deal to have been the only team to have beaten the Four Horsemen.
  20. Way to go, Mrs. McCoy. "With friends like these...."
  21. True. If it's any solace, nobody is going to confuse OSU with Texas anytime soon. Yes, the Buckeyes got caught in shenanigans, but unless decades of such malfeasance suddenly see the light of day, nobody is going to equate a few years of very poor decisions with the culture of corruption that permeates all things Longhorn. One of the reasons this OSU story is making such massive headlines is that nobody expects it of you guys. Everyone thinks of OSU as "the good guys." Hell, people are shocked if there aren't violations at Texas every few years.
