  1. Issues are rarely black-and-white. Lots of folks want to make the latest flap with Bo an either/or issue, just like they want to make the entirety of the Callahan Era a yes/no or like/dislike issue. There were a few things about Callahan that I liked. Many that I didn't. Above all I tried to be fair, and held the man accountable for those things which were really his fault or about which he really should have been held accountable for. I do the same with Bo. To wit: Having said that, I find it comical that people think the Sanders issue was a non-issue or a manufactured crisis. It has ramifications. Is it a huge deal? Too early to tell how next year's recruits are going to react when this is used as a tool against Nebraska by teams vying for the same recruits. But it will be used, and it will not reflect well.
  2. Well, we can put the Frost rumors to bed. He's staying at Oregon: LINK
  3. I remember reading something like that, sometime within the past season. It stuck out, because a lot of folks obviously do NOT agree with that. I have no idea where I read it, either.
  4. Doesn't anyone feel it's unlikely that we would know the inside info of the offer made to Frost in such detail? Let's be realistic about that alleged offer. It's someone's pie-in-the-sky guess.
  5. I know Oregon has Nike money, but they're not better off financially than Nebraska. We have boosters who are willing to pony up large chunks of cash when needed. Hell, we could pass the hat around Nebraska and folks would chip in $10 a person if we needed to. It's not a question how much money we have. It's a question of how much we're willing to spend.
  6. Nebraska's 2010 SOS ended up being 39th - FAR higher than I thought it would be when the season started. KU's 2007 SOS ended up 74th. So there's some wiggle room there.
  7. VA Tech was the #3 scoring defense that year as well. KU scored 8 points more than VT averaged in 2007. Only LSU scored more points against the Hokies than KU. The caveat to this is, as we saw in the Holiday Bowl, it's not always the best team that wins. But KU wasn't chopped liver in 2007 - that's probably the most fair thing to say.
  8. That's weird - they won all those games and didn't play in a bowl game?
  9. This is what I would best classify myself as right now as well.
  10. Final voting threads are up in the Starting Lineup. Go vote!

  11. Equipment Manager: 1) Upwardly Mobile – The Equipment Manager has dreams of climbing the coaching ranks, and gets this position because he has shown the potential to hold a higher office. HuskerBoard’s Equipment Manager is a guy who may be just starting out, but who already exhibits the potential to one day become a Head Coach or a Coordinator. 2) Coachability – Aspiring to the coaching ranks is a noble pursuit, but there is a steep learning curve. The Equipment Manager needs to be able to take instruction well, and put that instruction to good use. So this position should be filled by a guy who learns from the Vets and applies what he learns in his posts. This is not just someone whose ideas have no conviction, just someone who is willing to listen and learn from solid advice. 3) Starting Small – Let’s face it, the road to the coaching ranks begins at the lowest levels. Aspiring Offensive Coordinators and Head Coaches need to get their feet wet somehow. The Equipment Manager should be a guy who, while he hasn’t been around very long, already exhibits some of the qualities we see in the Head Coach and/or Offensive/Defensive Coordinator: gives instruction, fires off frequent posts and provides good information.
  12. Towel Boy: 1) New To The Team – This is often the first position available to a new member on the squad. Getting your toe in the door is the first step to greatness, though. This poster should be someone who has never held a positions in the Starting Lineup, but whose contributions have put him slightly ahead of the rest of the crowd. 2) Lots of Hustle – Look on the sidelines of any NFL game and you’ll see the Towel Boy hustling all over, getting whatever is needed as fast as possible. HuskerBoard’s Towel Boy should be a frequent contributor to all of the football forums: Start/Bench, Roster Ratings, Injuries/Updates and of course, Leftovers. This guy is everywhere. 3) High Turnover – Unfortunately, the Towel Boy is a position with lots of potential for turnover. Towel Boys come, Towel Boys go. This is your chance to give that new guy a well-deserved “attaboy” for his contributions, and make him feel like a member of the team. Who knows, he may stick around.
  13. That thread is not going to get unlocked and we're not going to get into it again in this thread. There was already a Mangino thread and we don't need another one. That's the end of it.
  14. And kansas husker is our new Water Boy, in a close battle!
  15. Congratulations, HSKRNOKC! You're the new Brandon Rigoni!
  16. I'd say it's time to lock this one up.
  17. I posted this way back in December. And got slammed for it.I was ridiculed and blasted by most on this board. This has been in the works since early December. They have knwn about it. You got slammed because you started a thread that said Mangino was in Lincoln for interviews when there was already a thread saying the same thing. Nobody slammed you because you said Watson was gone. Everybody thought the CCG was the final nail in Watson's coffin.
  18. I believe what Vince is saying is that Bo is not only the Head Coach, he's also the university's webmaster, so if anything gets posted it's done by his own hand, and he therefore knows. You looking to go 0fer on purpose or is it just you being you? Either way, you're succeeding. What?
  19. If possible I would have given you a plus 5. This is almost copy and paste from like 3 other threads. BTW- did you all miss this? 2. Pelini had an agreement with Indiana coach Kevin Wilson not to say anything about assistant coach Corey Raymond coming to NU until Raymond had officially been hired. Wilson jumped the gun and confirmed the hire on Wednesday, national signing day, putting Pelini in a tough spot because he couldn't comment on Marvin Sanders' status. 3. Pelini said Sanders' future was not officially wrapped up until Thursday. Pelini said he was not at liberty to discuss Sanders and refused to comment on Sanders any further than his statement on Thursday. 5. Pelini wouldn't comment on Scott Frost or any of the other speculation involving possible offensive coordinators or assistants. However, he said there could be some staff movement next week. Do you not see that he is being completely literal with his answers, based on contractual start dates and official announcements and doing everything in a "by the book" fashion. If you understand points 2 and 3 and then read point 5 none of this is a problem. Some of you (currently being outvoted 3 to 1 in the teleconference poll) really seem to be stuck on this. Those of you that think TO will step and and deal with your imaginary problem will probably be disappointed. I'd guess he has been part of decisions and information control all along. I'd say 47 "yes" votes to 29 "no" votes doesn't exactly equate to 3 to 1.
  20. I believe what Vince is saying is that Bo is not only the Head Coach, he's also the university's webmaster, so if anything gets posted it's done by his own hand, and he therefore knows.
  21. Yeah, there's a line that he can't cross. That's also federally mandated. I'm sure he knows this, and it doesn't appear to have been an issue in the past. I've never heard a rumor to that effect, anyway.
  22. I've missed being wrong like this. You don't post much anymore, so I end up being right more often by default. I take it you're back from your self-imposed hiatus and I'll be back to my normal wrong-headed ways again?
  23. Seems to be glossed over, huh? Seems like Els hasn't been hired yet, but I found it *extremely* interesting that he let Shatel know that he is "close" to hiring Els without specifying a time table. Seems like Bo isn't even trying to go the 'no comment' route. You would think that falls in the neighborhood of "I haven't made any hires for the LB coach position." They're waiting on the due diligence stuff is all. Els is in the fold and will be announced sometime in the next few days. People have mentioned halftime of tomorrow's game but I don't think the ink will be dry yet. I was under the impression that offensive changes were going to take more than a couple of weeks. I'm a little surprised by this posting online.
  24. Wrong. It's a valid job description and Pelini knows about it and knows that it's out there. In the article he denies knowledge of the job description. He's lying. He knows it's out there. Regardless if the job(s) have been filled he knows about this job posting is out on their system. To assume he doesn't know it's out there is 100% wrong. I know you well enough to know that I'm not going to conVince you of anything. All I can say is that your understanding of this situation is not entirely correct, and that's throwing your analysis off a little. Carry on.
