  1. There was no personal foul helmet-to-helmet. What facemask are you talking about? Because for every missed facemask you want to talk about, I'll tell you another that wasn't called on Missouri.
  2. This Missouri fan wouldn't. Trust me, there are plenty of "officials out to get us" threads on our board, even without the spectre of leaving the conference. Again, you're dreaming. Of course you would; you're here right now talking about facemasks and PI calls that weren't made. If you're griping about this now, it's clear you'd be ramping those gripes up even more with the pattern of calls Nebraska has put up with this season. Imagine playing this game without Aldon Smith because the Big XII just happened to suspend him before this game, for a hit that is commonly made every week in college football. Tell me that happens and you, personally, are not thinking there's something up with the situation. You're completely inobjective if you think you wouldn't be talking about that on a Tiger message board.
  3. The one and only problem I have with Lee's play is that third-down call. Yes, he made a brilliant pass to Reed, who made a brilliant catch on the sidelines. What I saw was that Zac could have easily ran for the first down (I think it was 3rd-and-3, right?). He had a ton of open field in front of him and could have picked it up with his feet, but he threw it instead. It was a pinpoint throw on the run to a covered receiver, and he pulled it off with tremendous skill and poise. But next time RUN THE BALL, Zac! I about had a coronary on that play.
  4. No, we're justifiably pissed at a consistent pattern of rulings against our team. The fact that we annihilated Missouri doesn't change the fact that it's an uneven playing field regarding penalties and official's rulings. You're dreaming if you think Missouri Fan wouldn't be reacting the same way. Wake up.
  5. I was at the game, and there was only one PI call that should have gone against us that wasn't called, and it wasn't anywhere near the endzone.
  6. There were bad calls both ways. I can think of a serious face mask on Gabbert and at least a couple of PI calls that were missed. There is no conspiracy, missed calls are part of the game. Right. Tell us that after your conference makes precedent-setting rulings against your players for plays that happen every week. Tell us that after your conference exhibits a consistent pattern of officiating "close calls" that go against your team, every time. I don't expect you to be objective, but you'll understand if, after witnessing several such calls each game against our team, we give short shrift to your "it's all equal" mantra. We have eyes, and we know what's going on. If Missouri is ever in a position to leave this conference and the conference appears likely to remain as a body, you'll know what we're talking about. Until then, keep living the dream.
  7. LINK Nice article, but below it you'll find Roy's post-game words to the press. Have we ever had a more humble, well-spoken guy at Nebraska? His answers were basically, "They're a great defense, I'm really surprised we did this," and, "We have to give the same credit to my blockers," and he proceeded to name off a bunch of guys and situations where his runs were aided by their efforts.
  8. Gabbert is a damned fine QB, and we're lucky he plays behind that O Line - or maybe it's better to say that we're lucky our D Line has such great production against their O Line. Put Gabbert on a lot of teams with better O Lines, better skill players, and we're talking about him winning major awards. I would have loved to have him here at Nebraska, but I'm darned glad the way things worked out.

    Martinez

Yeah, Alfonzo has a concussion, and you can't rush a guy back from that. The good news is that Iowa State is 104th in the country (yesterday's game not included) in passing, so if we have to sit Dennard Saturday, I'll be more than comfortable with Ciante in there. There is zero reason to rush Fonzie back to the game when we have capable backups ready to step in. Taylor probably could have gone back in, but again with the backup thing - I'll be comfortable with Lee playing the whole game next week. He could very easily lead us to victory. Heck, all he has to do is hand the ball off to Helu.
  10. I think our MNC chances are none and none. Way too much has to happen and we have to play PERFECT football from here on out, something this team has not shown the ability to do. Realistic expectations for this team are a Conference Championship, a BCS win, and a top five finish. If we achieve that this year, I'll be more than pleased.
  11. The funniest thing about this bell is that nobody really cared that much about it - in Nebraska, anyway - until this game. Suddenly everyone was talking about keeping the bell forever. Like most Husker fans, I didn't even know we played for a trophy against any of our Big 8/Big 12 brethren until a year or two ago. I just find it funny how much I and everyone else, who never ever think about this bell, cared so much now.
  12. In the Oklahoma/Colorado game Broyles just scored on a long pass play in the third, and the other WR had a very similar hit to Martin's where helmets contacted, and the CU guy wasn't paying attention. I will guarantee that the OU WR is not suspended next week.
  13. Zac had a fine game, including solid runs when we needed first downs to kill the clock. Several of us said that we would need him sometime this year - twice now he's answered the bell and played well. You gotta love the guy.
  14. Can't stop them from doing it. To me, it falls under "Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery." They wouldn't do it if it didn't mean something. We gave it that meaning. Let them copy us.
  15. Great pics! As far as size, the bigger the better. When you shrink them down it gets hard to see details.
  16. Roy without question gets the game ball. Put aside the glamorous long TD runs, and the guy still had a heck of a game, with 100+ tough yards and several key first downs. That was probably the most brilliant performance I've ever seen in person by a running back. Defensively, there are so many guys to compliment. I have a FREAKING HUGE HEADACHE from screaming my ass off on that goal-line stand. I can't remember a time I was more proud of our defense. That was so crucially gutsy, and so improbable, that I'm amazed to have seen it happen. Hell of a stop, and at a crucial part of the game. Ciante Evans, that was a gutty performance in a fill-in situation. I'd like to know how many times Evans was targeted, and how many catches were made against him. The one I can remember clearly was a brilliant effort by the WR, but Evans still played it well. I think he has a very bright future ahead of him. Prince had a fine game. We ended up with six sacks against a team that had given up SEVEN TOTAL sacks all year. Yow.
  17. right on i hope we get to see you (or your flag for that matter) it feels like i've made love to you over and over on this board yet never have seen your face.... will be nice to put a face with the fingers.... If someone starts saying "You complete me" I'm going to suggest this moves to PM.
  18. Yes! That is exactly what happened. I was in the West stadium looking right at that hit, albeit from 60 yards away, and it was NOT spearing. What sucks is that Cunningham isn't on the sidelines, but he's still affecting the game. Busch League BS, if you ask me.
  19. That is the pic that went along with the Yahoo article linked at the top of this page. Yahoo either used a stock photo or made a mistake, since that is NOT the play that earned Martin his suspension.
  20. I believe there is some work in progress right now. My view is totally whacked. Give it an hour and it'll likely be fixed.
  21. Circumventing ESPN3's ban on certain areas would constitute a copyright violation. Discussion of such things are forbidden per the rules.
  22. Because he isn't playing very good,he is a very overrated player. He has alot to improve on so he most likely isn't going to go into the draft this year,he needs to come back to increase his stock. Crick was never going into the draft this year. That was nonsense. And his numbers do not support your contention that he "isn't playing very good." Nebraska's defensive philosophy, especially as it pertains to our D Line, isn't easy to grasp. We're used to Suh blowing everyone up and laying waste to the backfield, but that's only because he was superhuman. Crick and the D Line are doing what they're asked to do - be gap-sound, occupy O Linemen, and keep the QB from running out of the pocket. For about 6 1/2 games they did just that - the lone exception being Gilbert's scrambling in the first half of the Texas game. Our D Line doesn't play sexy football like we used to in the 90s, but it's all part of Bo's system and it's effective.
  23. Ed Cunningham wrote a piece back in April about how he suited up as a ref and called the sideline at Nebraska's Spring Game. I remember reading it, and I thought I posted it here, so if someone else finds it I'll merge the topics. Tell me the passage in bold below isn't ironic, based on the Oklahoma State game fallout: Seems as though Mr. Cunningham has had a penchant for the helmet-to-helmet calls predating the season. Interesting.
