  1. I think Yoshi is physically more gifted than Sirles, but "the best player" is often the guy who knows the playbook best. Yoshi may be the second coming of Orlando Pace, but if he doesn't know who to block, when, and why, he's not "better than" Sirles. I have no inside information and this isn't a knock on Sirles, but from what I understand the only thing holding Yoshi back is learning the playbook. Once he gets that down enough, I expect him to start the rest of the year. A good example of this is DeJon Gomes last year. All the talent in the world, but didn't start until the Texas Tech game because he was still learning.
  2. That was the pic that came with the Yahoo Sports article. Either the Yahoo guys didn't know that was the the wrong hit or they were only able to use that pic because they couldn't get rights to a pic of the real play.
  3. Obvious response: Sirles is better Maybe it's better to say that Sirles is better so far. Yoshi is a mythic force, and allegedly athletic as anyone. It's only a matter of time before he's starting. We didn't bring him from JUCO to ride the bench.
  4. He will respond, correctly, that the governor is not a "school official." That's why he worded it the way he did. And of course the governor holds no sway over MU's conference affiliation. But it's not open to debate that Missouri VERY MUCH coveted Big 10 membership. Still does, as a matter of fact.
  5. Post one link where an MU official said we wanted to go to the Big 10. Really? Do you have any links where NU officials said the same? Of course not.
  6. That's a good point, but from what I've seen, Smith is capable of a fast, lane-controlled rush that will at once put pressure on Martinez while also keeping him respectable in run game. Frankly, Smith is a huge concern for me. The Aldon Smith / Suh comparison is a good one. Smith is not yet up to Suh's ability, but he's the Suh of your line.
  7. Sirles came back in after his injury, but Yoshi will probably play quite a bit, too.
  8. Did you vote for Sydney Anderson today?

  9. If this is a weekly vote it's just about over. Alex has three times the #2 guys' votes.
  10. I cannot wait for our Missouri friends to vilify Smith for this statement, in much the same way they have vilified Martin for his hit.
  11. Nobody refers to Nebraska fans as classy anymore except Nebraska fans so what is your point? I've seen it myself several times this year already. They weren't so classy against Texas...get behind early in this game and the fans' true colors will keep coming out. Nebraska's "classy fan" farse was built in the days when you were blowing teams out by 60. A lot easier to act classy when you still feel like you're better than any other team...but when you're just another team, I don't see a difference between Nebraska fans and anybody else. What are you referring to about the Texas game? I was at that game, and every single Texas fan I talked to - literally a dozen, maybe two - said they were treated better in Lincoln than anywhere else. Of course you don't - you're a rival. Commentators on several of our games have referred to us as still being some of the best fans in America. Stewart Mandel referred to us as the classiest fans, or some such thing, in one of his columns earlier this year. You'll pardon me if I don't get too concerned about your opinion. Missouri has no love for Nebraska, and you guys have frequently disparaged the "classy fans" thing around here. Par for the course.

  13. These are my parents' tickets, so I'm not positive. I believe they're in section 34. I know it's row 87. Not sure which seats, but they're more toward the left of the row as you look at the jumbotron.
  14. Jokes aside, Missouri's defense is the best we'll face the rest of the year. If we beat this defense, there isn't a defense on the schedule we have to sweat about.
  15. I'll be there. Just below and to the left of the Jumbo Screen. I've been fighting a cold all week, but it seems to be breaking up just in time. I may already be hoarse when I walk in the gates, but I'll be loud during the game, no matter the consequences.
  16. If I have to keep getting out my mop and bucket and cleaning threads, people are going to get a three-day rest from posting. The Rules are still in effect. No personal attacks, regardless of which team you root for.
  17. My favorite Missouri memory is actually a volleyball match. Back in the Dark Ages of volleyball before rally scoring (point per serve, regardless of who serves), we beat Missouri something like 15-0, 15-3, 15-1; I'll admit to being fuzzy on the numbers. Missouri scored, maybe, five points in the whole match. It was one of the most beautiful dominations in any sport I have ever witnessed. Purely football, I'd say that after last season's win, in COMO, after having had to wade through the sludge of bile and filth that was dumped on HuskerBoard by our visiting Missouri fans, the deafening silence, the utter lack of anything from those who trolled, was beautiful. NOTE - several Missouri fans were classy enough to come to HuskerBoard and congratulate us on the win. This has nothing to do with those folks, who are fine people. This has only to do with the trolls.
  18. Why would you laugh at that? It's like laughing at Missouri saying they're better than Nebraska in basketball. You are, and it's demonstrable. By what measure of "best" would you describe a fan base? Best manners? Best treatment of opponents? Best tailgate? Best rack? Best travel? Best...what? Whatever measure you want to use, Nebraska's fan base has to be among the top in the nation. It's not a boastful thing, it's part of the culture of the state. 99.337% of all Husker fans take that "best fans" thing with a huge grain of salt. It doesn't win games, so who cares? And the kicker is, if we forbade the use of that term forevermore, Nebraska fans would still travel well, still applaud the opponent on the way out of the stadium, still be friendly and welcoming. The label followed the behavior, not vise versa.
  19. That was prior to the Dominique Hamilton injury, too. It'll be interesting to see how they fill his position. They still have Terrell Resonno, who has been playing quite well by all accounts, and they fill with Jimmy Burge, who has one of the best afros of all time:
  20. I first heard of LTCG when he would call in to Z-92 back in the day. That was what - early 90s? I think they used to say he was from the South back then, and I'm thinking Florida was where he was supposed to be from. Anyone remember that? Like his act or not, you gotta respect the guy's foundation and efforts on behalf of charity.
  21. Those are quotes from Hitler, Goebbels and some other Nazi glitterati. I'm unconcernedly pissing in the face of Godwin's Law. I would not agree that there are more radicals on the Left than the Right. I would put it about equal, or leaning slightly Right. At least the majority of bully pulpits seem to be filled from the Right right now. And to reiterate, I'm a Moderate. I don't lean Left or Right, and I think all of your radicals are equally asshats. EDIT - and frankly, when someone goes batsh!t crazy radical, does it really matter which side of the political spectrum they're on? We don't have to search that hard through history to find Leftist despots, Right-wing despots, and/or crimes against man committed by either side. It seems like there should be a graph. In the middle you have Moderates, on the Left, Leftists and on the Right, Rightists. As you go further and further Left or Right, the graph curves upward, with the X axis representing atrocities. At some point the graph gets high enough that they fall back in on a single point - despotism. I think my graph would look a lot like the Ace of Spades.
  22. You seem overly willing to sling the mud, then cry foul. If you want good football discussion, provide some of your own and stop rising to the bait of every single slight you perceive.
  23. If? Come now. This thread would have melted in the flames on Tigerboard had it been posted there. The fact that there are a dozen or more Tiger fans posting here right now telling us that Nebraska is going to lose this game should tell you that this is a more tolerant board. That perspective you're talking about, it's time for your shot. We drank ours.
  24. That's a good point about TigerBoard. But I have to say, TigerNuts is a pretty good egg. As eggs go.
