  1. Since 10/23/10 Nebraska is undefeated. How's that for living in the now?
  2. Take one guess on who the happiest Husker fan was when Martin's suspension was announced.
  3. Torax3, Martin has stated that he was laughing about being tired from running, and having to go back out for kickoff coverage. You're welcome not to believe him, of course.
  4. And then that kid doesn't get suspended. I shouldn't even have to mention that the one against Martinez looked far dirtier and malicious. Oh, but Martinez got up and wasn't hurt. Must be O.K. then... Apparently you can do tons of bad things but as long as he isn't hurt and the refs give you a little slap on the wrist then everything is kosher. Got it, Big 12. And a tip of my cap to the Husker fans who called for Martin's head while completely ignoring that hit on Martinez. Stay classy, guys.
  5. First game was ugly. Texas wins 25-15. Huskers hit .000 for the game. On to game two.
  6. 10 things I hate about you... /runs out of room A pretty good adaptation of a Shakespearean classic, too.
  7. That's a good point, Army. I'm constantly telling trolls to stop painting Nebraska fans by the actions of a few.
  8. How ironic...a guy posting about class with the tag "IH8CU".... Anyways, since no one else has brought this up...what if E-Mart were white???? Blake Gideon, S for Texas, has been flagged multiple times this year for "targeting defenseless players", yet has not received a suspension. And for all of you calling him a "thug", that is absolutely ridiculous...I guarantee if Marlowe or Compton did something just like this, nobody would call them a thug... This has NOTHING to do with race. The only color that's important to this discussion is RED.
  9. I give it two days before Dan Beebe suspends Green. Just to be sure.
  10. Martin made about six hits like this last year. If this was "flagrant" then where were the suspensions last year? Again, this ONLY happens because we stand a chance at getting to the title game on our way out the door to the Big 10. No doubt in my mind.
  11. Bottom line is, if this wasn't discussed at the NFL level, if Nebraska wasn't leaving the Big 12, if we didn't have a chance at the Big 12 title, none of this happens.
  12. Advance to the 1:35 mark. The hit is in the lower right quad of the screen. Head hunting - clear as a bell. Cheap, dirty shot... and then laughing on the sideline. Thug play. Kinda like Weatherspoon punching Helu last year? I believe he punched McNeill, but yeah, kinda like that. I don't seem to recall the Tigers fans complaining about that play after the game. Then again, I don't seem to recall any Tiger fans visiting the board for a month after our game.
  13. He led with his shoulder. It is impossible NOT to have helmet-to-helmet contact when you use your shoulder to hit the upper body of an opponent. The rule states that you cannot "use the crown of your helmet." He didn't. He used his shoulder. This is the Big XII protecting the sanctity of their Conference Championship Game. Spin it any way you like, but if this was your player, you'd be saying the same thing we're saying.
  14. I can't wait for the chorus of "I told you so" from the Husker fans. EDIT - and I'm SURE this isn't timed to coincide with Nebraska playing a game for the control of the North, with a trip to the CCG on the line. I'm sure this ruling has NOTHING to do with that.
  15. Perhaps to that point, Sagarin has us ranked ahead of Sparty (might as well get used that term ). We're 9th to their 13th, and we've played the 41st SOS to their 65th. Clearly Sagarin's computer is unimpressed with Sparty's wins.
  16. This may sound crazy, but the winner of NU/MU has GOT to stay focused against Iowa State. I give the Clones a 50/50 shot of knocking off one of us.
  17. Surely Forde's prediction is a misprint. What I don't get is, why are so many pundits picking Nebraska? Are our errors (fumbles, poor tackling/missed tackles, lack of QB pressure, missed O Line blocking assignments) magically going away Saturday? If so I would LOVE that, because I have no wish to watch my first Husker loss in person this week. On top of that, Missouri is the higher-ranked team, having played a tougher schedule (albeit not a LOT tougher, but still). On top of THAT, Missouri's close game was against a real Div 1A opponent, while ours was against Middle South Dakota State Tech Brookings or some such team. On top of that, our one "big game" of the year we couldn't get out of our own way. Was our Oklahoma State game or our Washington game so impressive that records suddenly don't matter to these guys?
  18. When I was in Lincoln in 2008 for the Missouri-Nebraska game, there were more Missouri fans in the stadium at the end of the game than Nebraska fans. We shut that place down. Kind of like last year in COMO, huh?
  19. I am reluctant to embrace Boise, too, but the bottom line is, they're damned good at what they do. They've long since erased the stigma of being a "gimmick" or a lucky team. I forget what their record against top 25 and top 10 teams is over the last decade, but it's pretty good. The main caveat I give to Boise is that because they play such a weak schedule they have the luxury of planning for one team for weeks at a time. They have their base offense that NOBODY in the WAC can stop, so they don't have to do any game-planning for those opponents. They can spend all of Fall camp focusing on VA Tech, or several weeks in the regular season focusing on Nevada, and when the bowl game rolls around they are fresh and unburdened with injuries because they haven't played a rugged conference schedule like the rest of the good teams. It is not Boise's fault, but it is unfair to put them in the same plane as Alabama or Oklahoma or Ohio St. or Oregon. Bottom line is, not one of those teams would have a different record than Boise's had they played Boise's schedule. On the flip side of that, there's no way that Boise goes undefeated last year playing Alabama's schedule, or Ohio State's. Through sheer attrition, injuries, whatever, they would have dents in their armor that good teams could exploit. This is why a playoff is a better answer to the National Championship question than a bowl system. With a playoff, no matter how creampuff Boise's schedule is, they're going to have to earn the title in at least two tough games.
  20. Memorial Stadium is locked up pretty tight these days. There would be next to no chance of getting in there and ripping down goal posts, nor of getting them back out if we were to try to do so after an away game win.
  21. Did anyone else hear the idiots announcing the game say when Henery took off that this wasn't unusual since he's a rugby-style kicker?!?!?!?! My eyes almost rolled right out of my head. I knew what he was doing from the first step he took, and I was not happy. I didn't think he'd pull it off, and I couldn't remember where the line was that he had to get because they pulled the yellow strip off the screen for the punt. It turned out OK, but I almost had a conniption.
  22. Those are good points, Fro, and it really speaks volumes about college football today. Any team can beat any other team if one has a bad game, simply because the talent is spread around so much more than ever before. The margins between teams is really pretty slim. A lot of it hinges on schemes, matchups and execution. I wouldn't try to predict this game for love or money. Lock me in a room until the game is over and I'd believe you if you told me: Missouri blew out Nebraska Missouri beat Nebraska on Nebraska's mistakes It was a close game but Missouri pulled it out It was a close game but Nebraska pulled it out Nebraska beat Missouri on Missouri's mistakes Nebraska blew out Missouri I really have no idea which team will win. And I have no idea if it'll be a good game or crap.
