  1. I live in Idaho and there is not a lot to choose from here. I have found Husker Hounds, Husker Heaven, the Red Zone , and Nebraska Bookstore online. There must be more local stores especially in Lincoln that have stuff, mainly looking for hats. Thanks.
  2. Here is my idea for a playoff proposal. I have tried to keep the # of teams from being to many to keep from drawing out the season to long, I don't think a lot of the school administrators would like to extend the season any more than necessary. One of the basic rules of this is that if you don't win your conference you obviously aren't the best team in the country. This makes the regular season and every game mean something. I have also have kept the bowls in the system which most people say is important. The winners of the 6 BCS conferences are automatically in. The 2 remaining teams would come from the highest ranking non BCS conferences or am independent like Notre Dame. In a rare case it is also possible for example to a have a conference to have co champions that have not played each other during the regular season and don't have a conference championship game. They would probaby be represented by the team with the highest ranking. You would have a total of 7 games in the playoffs. Four in the first round, 2 in the second and then the championship game. Which ever bowls wanted to be included in the playoff would bid for the games, or they could rotate if they agree to that. The top 4 teams in the BCS rankings (from within the above framework) would play against the next 4 (remember they have to have won their conference). At least with this system every team in D1A would have a shot at the championship, as it is now if you are not in a BCS conference you can forget it, like Hawaii this year and Boise St and Utah in the past. Every team would have a least a chance, you win your games and you can get in. So this year you would have something like this. (I am just guessing on which bowls would be involved) and the time frame. Some of the bowls would have to play a little earlier than they do now. network tv could also bid on the various games. Teams and bowls not in the playoff would do as they do now. First round, could be played around Dec. 22nd Ohio St vs USC in the Fiesta Bowl LSU vs W. Virginia in the Cotton Bowl V. Tech vs Hawaii in the Outback Bowl Oklahoma vs BYU in the Capital One Bowl Then lets say the second round might look like this and be played around Dec. 29th. LSU vs USC in the Orange Bowl Oklahoma vs V Tech. in the Sugar Bowl Championship Game played maybe Jan. 5th USC vs Oklahoma in the Rose Bowl
  3. Thanks, living out of state its hard to keep up with stuff like this.
  4. He should be #1 not only as a reciever but as a return man. IMO the most exciting college football player ever. There was/is? a tape of hime called Portrait of a Heisman I would highly recommend for anyone that wants to remember him or was not lucky enough to see him play. The tightend from Oklahoma was probably Keith Jackson.

  6. Who ever the new coach is he will not have 100% approval of NU fans. No other coach ever has. Most of T.O.s first 20 years, many Huskers fans were highly critical of him, he came within one game of being fired in the mid 70s and even in the early 90s there were rumblings of him getting the ax, after Bill Byrne first came to Nebraska. When he interviewed for the Colorado job there were a long list of people who would have helped him move, and he routinely had for sale signs put up in his front yard, as well as having his mail box blown up once. Bob Devaney had a petition started to get him fired after two 6-4 seasons, and Charlie McBride had one for him in the early 90s as well.
  7. Like relief was delayed a year.
  8. Absolutely Johnny the Jet!! I cannot believe I had to read this far down in the thread to find someone else who believes that too. Man, woman, and child, he "put 'em in the aisles"! The guy was fun to watch and caused opponents to change game plans for. And what a punt returner. This was favorite player not best player. I agree that he's great but I was only 3 when he played so can't say he was my favorite. Another guy I enjoyed watching play was IB Derek Brown talk about a guy that was'nt very big but would try to run over anyone in his way when he could'nt run around them. He was better then Calvin in my opinion. He is my favorite player, and IMO also the most exciting college football player ever. I highly reccommend the tape for all NU fans.
  9. Johnny the Jet Rodgers. IMO the most exciting college football player ever. There is/was a tape of his highlights out. If you can still find it, I reccomend it both for fans that remember him and those to young to have seen him play. Think it was called portrait of a Heisman.
  10. "I disagree as to Turner Gill. Turner is clearly a great man of character. He is a good role model. He was a fine player and has a fine NU background. He would love the job and work tirelessly. All this is good. But, when he was a position coach at NU he was, frankly, unimpressive. Poor technique plagued his players and little to no improvement was seen over time. As a head coach, I doubt that he would command the attention of recruits." Good Grief!! Turner Gill was unimpressive as a position coach?? Go back and watch Tommie Frazier pass when he was a freshman with about a 44% passing completion rate, then watch his senior year with 56% and finish second in the Heisman voting (which he should have won). Same with Scott Frost from early in his first year to his senior and Eric Crouch won the Heisman for heavens sakes.
