  1. Everyone probablly knows this but just in case - you can check the final NCAA stats at this link. Its not updated for the Texas -Bama game yet. (last time I checked) NCAA Stats
  2. It was the white tape on the shoes, he would be even better with white shoes, as would the rest of the team.
  3. I have a page comparing some past Husker Defenses, follow the link Defense
  4. I'll go with 1971 NU, if for no other reason I'm old, also JR most exciting college football player ever. Compare them at the link http://sites.google.com/site/nebraskafootb...tory/best-teams
  5. I agree. Normally I would pull for the conference team, but can't do it this time. Was also glad to see Mizzu get rolled by Navy. I'll root for the rest of the Big 12.
  6. Over the years I have been somewhat superstitious when it comes to watching or listening to NU games that are not easy wins. I think the Huskers do better when I don’t watch or listen. My wife told me you are not a superstitious person other times why be that way with Nebraska games? I decide she was right and by the end of this season was watching/listening to all games. Now I can get back to things that really matter, like which chair do I sit in? What shirt to wear? How long without moving, yelling etc.
  7. It was the white tape on the shoes. Just think how good/fast the whole team would be with white shoes! I have mentioned this before and said it was tongue in cheek, but some folks evidently did not know that meant I was kidding. But IMO the Huskers would look better with white shoes.
  8. Maybe this has been posted but in case it hasn't, Parade Magazine has a site you can vote for the all time best college football program. Also have a section on the top 50 Parade Players since it started naming a team. One NU player made the top 50. NU is trailing, so vote early, vote often. http://www.parade.com/news/all-america/200...ogram-poll.html
  9. In no particular order (except for #1) Besides the obvious like go undefeated. 1. Beat Texas. Do it so bad they can't take it away from us 2. See as much improvement from Lee as there was from Scott Frosts junior year and his senior 3. Also see improvement from Cody Green. I really wish he could have redshirted 4. A 100% Cody Spano. He might have been what this team really needed 5. A defense playing like this years. 6. No one going pro early 7. White Shoes - it would make the team faster (tongue in cheek) 8. A new field. I don't like the 2 tone green. 9. Recruit dual threat QBs. Probably spoiled after watching Gill, Frazier, Frost, Crouch, but its painful to watch our QBs try and run, and a QB that could run would help a lot. 10. An offensive identity that has a solid foundation in the power running game and play action passing. Won't get there over night but I can't stand this sideline to sideline finesse thing. If that takes a change in off. coor. and oline coach, so be it.
  10. Wrestle a pretty girl and kiss a bear, or is that the other way around.
  11. Jason Peter's radio program just said Burkhead had been cleared to play, doesn't mean that he will though.
  12. If my ciphering is correct, so far this season in games vs BCS conference teams, NU has 12 field goals and 11 touchdowns. For the rest of the season I hope the td rate will go up.
  13. No turnovers, as few penalties as possible, ball control and some tds. Good start early in games would help also.
  14. I usually don't buy into the media bias idea. But I was looking at the games to be replayed this week on tv here (Comcast in Spokane WA) and I don't seem NU/OU but they do list NU/ Iowa State and KState/OU. Seems like the only NU win they ever play is 1971 NU/OU
  15. Tommie was a great QB for NU. But as far as being liked, well, he wasn't even elected team captain.
  16. 82-83 NU came within a few inches and a few seconds of being 25-0 with 2 NCs. Wish the Huskers would run an offense like that again. For some reason even some NU fans think all NU did was run the ball with the option all the time. IMO the best offenses and QB NU ever had.
  17. I think the possibility is there to win out, but also to lose them all as well. I think something needs to change or happen. Maybe just getting off to a good start in a game would help. Baylor without their QB, I pick the Huskers. Score 6-3
  18. No, I just have the book. Remember reading it, took awhile to find it again.
  19. In the book Nebraska Football by James Sherman, there are a couple paragraphs talking about a game vs Iowa, played in Lincoln, in the 1930s. The temperature that day was going to be below zero and the coaches and team went to downtown Lincoln to buy what warm clothes they could for the game, including gloves and mittens. The players soon saw they were going to have a hard time handling the ball so they used tacks with the gloves to improve their grip. It worked so well they when an Iowa player threw a pass and a Nebraska player put up his hand to block it, the ball stuck to his hand. That might take care of the fumbling, Then all NU needs to do is do something about the penalties, execution and play calling. I am old enough to remember the 1967 season when NU had a great defense but was lacking on offense. The Huskers finished 6-4, with all of the losses being fairly close. The way things are going now we will be lucky to get 6 wins, even with a 12 game regular season.
  20. I don't blame Lee for the fumbles. But sometimes a QB switch will spark the offense, especially since Green can run. If Green isn't good enough to play vs Iowa St. why not just have let him redshirt??
  21. To bad there were not more bowl games in the late 60s. NU went 6-4 in 1967-68 and no bowls. If they had NU would of went to a bowl every year from 1962 - 2003. 67 had a great defense, a little short on offense. 1968 wasn't a very good team all the way around.
  22. Watched the replay today, as bad as the offense was NU could have made this a game with a few breaks. The first time Tech had the ball they had a 3rd and 23 and the guy caught a tipped ball for a first down and they went on to score. NUs tipped ball from Green which would have been a TD had the NU reciever held on. Thats 14 points right there. Also NU called the time out when Tech went for it on 4th down and it looked like the D would have held them, but after the timeout they got a first down and went on to score another TD, add the fumbled lateral pass earlier and thats another 14 points. That said, if the offense keeps this up we might not have a sure win left this year. It all starts with the oline and if they can't get it done it will be hard no matter who is the QB. It seems like the offense goes sideline to sideline more than they do up filed and those 2 yard passes make me want to scream. All of the offsides, illegal proceedures and personal fouls have to stop too.
  23. Of course it would work. Some people act like NU was running the wishbone. NU had a power running game that used SOME option, about 25% of the time. NU threw the ball quite well. What you need is the right personel and the right guy calling the plays. Just don't be so predicable. I'm going to scream if I see much more of these 2 yard passes.
  24. I think the defense is solid, and they don't get much help from off. Something needs to be done - penalties, can't catch the ball, can't run or won't even try. Playcalling makes you scratch your head (or worse). Maybe the offense is a year away, but I think there needs to be a rethink of what we are trying to do, and maybe a couple changes on the offensive staff.
