  1. Dion Booker was supposed to be another version of his brother, and never really amounted to anything. Another one recently was Donald DeFrand. He came in very highly touted, and we haven't seen him at all. The biggest in my mind was DeAngelo though. He could have been the next Barry Sanders, but injuries and selfish ego gave it all away.
  2. Please don't start that stuff. I will always be a Husker fan. I didn't tell you to quit being a husker fan while you were bashing Solich the last couple of years. I like the option and any time a team is playing that does I usually watch it. By the way Rice is starting to do pretty well with that Option. I predict in a couple of years they could be really tough. I never bashed Solich. I actually supported us keeping him another year. But I, unlike many, have moved on and decided to support the new regime. Do I like how Steve Pederson handled it? No way, but Solich had my full support, and now, so does Callahan. And Rice has been running the option for a very long time, and they have sucked for a very long time. Sorry I implied you weren't a good fan - that was out of line of me, but I'm just sick of all the negative comments on just about every subject that comes up. Try to be hopeful once in a while.
  3. I think Bo will want to kill us and they will win by 40. Just my opinion. Yeah - and I'm sure OU will kill us simply because of the extra motivation they get for the game from Bo. Yeah right. Talent and coaching win, not some emotional ploy, which I'm sure Bo won't try to play anyway.
  4. Tommie Frazier. Hands down - end of debate.
  5. Bernie - Then go watch Rice, or any of the Military Academies if you want a return to watching Option football. If we're so un-exciting, why do you continue to call yourself a fan of NU? Go ahead and jump off the bandwagon.
  6. Granted - we should have beat SoMiss - in fact we should have destroyed them - at least a 21 point victory IMO. If we perform like that against Big XII teams, we won't sniff winning the North Division.
  7. Bernard - I see your point of view on Bo, and like I've said, I think he'll be a great head coach someday, however, his temper (fire if you want to call it that) is a little too much for the head man - IMO. And just to clarify, when Bo got the penalty in the Michigan State game, the 15 yards killed a potential touchdown drive. We were up by 2 touchdowns at that point, and it potentially could have proven huge had MSU managed to score. They would have gotten to within 7 pts at that point, and we'd have had a different ballgame to deal with. Hindsight is 20/20, but actions like that could have definitely cost us - maybe even the ballgame.
  8. I think Steve Pederson said it himself (and don't take me for a Pedey fan) - Bo is going to be a good head coach someday - keyword here is someday. He has quite a bit of growing up to do. And the head coach he chewed out was Bill Snyder, for piling more points on with his starters after the outcome was decided and NU had backups in the game. That was definitely immature, but frankly, it was kind of cool
  9. In a word - YES And how can you say in one breath that it wouldn't be too special to win the North, then in the other breath, say we're going to have to beat some pretty good teams? Which is it man - make up your mind. Your last statement is true - we are going to have to beat some pretty tough teams, and doing that will be special. HTH
  10. And to correct you Bernard - Richie wasn't going to be suspended for 4 games or so. It was going to be for the entire year. Shawn Callahan stated this as a fact Tuesday on Unsportsmanlike Conduct on ESPN 1620 the Zone (Radio station) in Omaha. Richie and his Dad both figured if he was going to sit for a year, he might as well do it as a transfer at another school where he could at least practice on the scout team. He wanted a 4 game suspension, so he could play enough to raise his draft status for the NFL, but since he was going to sit for a year anyway, he decided to leave. As for the validity of my stories - they came from a player on the team - a defensive starter - I won't mention his name on this board - and I heard the Jemayel Phillips part of the story directly from him over beers at the Brass Rail. His friend - who's also a friend of mine - told me the Mulkey story. Not sure why he'd lie about it since the defensive player in question was one of the 10 people trying to separate RI and GM. And from what I understand - there's even more - and worse crap RI has done that the public doesn't even know about. You don't have to beleive me though - I don't care one way or the other.
  11. As for the validity of the story, remember Jemayel Phillips leaving the team in fall camp last year due to "personal reasons"? Add it up - it was because his ankle had irreparable damage, and the attempt to rehab it during the summer failed. Allegedly, he went to Solich and mentioned something regarding a lawsuit. NU quickly offered a settlement to avoid the bad press. Richie then served a opening day suspension for "violating team rules", and - case closed. Also...don't forget Richies on the field problems. Michigan State - Penn State. How many personal foul penalties did this guy cause us? If you remember the 2002 season; in our home loss to Colorado, we were driving late in the game for a game-winning drive. The drive pretty much ended because of a Richie Incognito personal foul penalty. I'm told that he was involved in no less than 20 practice time fights with teammates during his years here - most recently in a nasty one with Carriker a few weeks before the Mulkey incident. Trust me - if you add it all up, we absolutely are better off without him. Good luck Oregon.
  12. I happen to know someone who knows someone inside. OK that's pretty lame, I know, but anyways, here's how the Mulkey story goes. RI comes into the locker room after practice, and starts giving Mulk a good razzing about the OWH article about him earning a starting spot as the Z (3rd) receiver, saying it's really not a starting position cause we only start 2 receivers. Mulkey comes back with something along the lines of "oh yeah - where you watching the game from this weekend? PPV? After others ooh and ahh in laughter at Mulk's comeback, Richie goes nuts and attacks him. After teammates separated them, RI convices everyone he's sorry and wants to apologize to Mulk. When Mulkey extends his hand to shake Richies, Richie goes nuts again. This time, it allegedly took 10 guys to pull him off Grant. To cap this whole scenario off, when Callahan came into the locker room to see what the comotion was about, Richie verbally attacked BC. Now, if it was just this issue, I would agree that it should warrant another chance, but from what I've been told, Barney Cotton tried to kick Richie off the team in spring ball last year because - get this - he stomped on Jemayel Phillips ankle on purpose during a practice scuffle. This basically ended Phillips football career. This incident was swept under the rug by Solich, and apparently the University settled with Phillips without going to court, but he had to sign a gag-order so no press would be given to it. Consider these two incidents, and throw those on the pile with all the other bull-s%$ (detailed in the Oregon writers article), and it's very easy to see why we don't want him back. Hope that helps.
