  1. it's like a different team comes out after halftime... Your 2004 Nebraska Cornhuskers, the Jekyle and Hyde of college football...
  2. This is Bill Callahan we're talking about... I'd like to offer two pieces of evidence... 1) 2002 Superbowl, when all he did was throw the ball, and the TB defense had them for lunch 2) 5 minutes to go in the game against Pitt, let's throw on 1st down... I could come up with more, but I will refrain...
  3. about the recruiting thing... All remember hearing is about how great of a recruiter Callahan was, and how his staff were excellent recruiters. Granted he didn't have the full amount of time to recruit, but you might be able to sell sand to arabs, if the program sucks, your gonna catch hell trying to get steven hawking to play for us...
  4. Outstanding sir... Up until this WCO offense craze either blows over, or actually works, I think we're going to have to endure plenty of saturdays, like last weekend...
  5. I personally think the installing of the WCO wasn't necessary in the least. If anything it's to stoke his own ego. It's like he's doing this to prove something. He's going to shoot this program in the ass, to inflate his own ego. I think he's a selfish bastard, but that's just me. Another thing, when we were running the option, we didn't have to worry about recruiting recievers. All we were worried about were running backs, quarter backs, offensive linemen, and tight ends. Our recievers didn't have to be blue chip prospects. See, why are you going to make things harder than they already need to be. Callahan's an ego maniac...
  6. Quality post by the way... So, we spend the next couple of years going 7-4, then we see the recruits that Callahan has brought in. If that doesn't work, then what? We've essentially blown 2 or 3 years. Will SP stay with Callahan, since he's got the "big name"? I guess what it boils down to, is the fact that I keep asking the question, "was all this really necessary"? I'm not trying to be a "stick in the mud", but just trying to play devil's advocate.
  7. I know I'm an FNG (friggin new guy), but can I get any love???
  8. Ok, it's easy to be an armchair coach, but it doesn't take a rocket scientist to realize that this offense has "sh*t the bed". We don't have the talent to facilitate the WCO, bottom line. Joe Dailey's not the guy to run the show, not to be sounding like a killjoy. Such a radical change in offense is something that should be done over time, not just boom, here's our offense, now go... This change has implications that is going to come up and bite us in the ass, and that could pull down our program to the level of Duke. And i'm not talking about the basketball team...
  9. That's like saying, so, Mrs. Lincoln, how was the play? NOT EMBARRASED?!?!?!? What game was he watching? Sure as hell wasn't the same one we all were. Abandon the WCO now. Why is he fixing something that's not broken? Why? Can somebody tell me, why in the hell, he's going to come in, and change the offense?
  10. i'm the angry, disgruntled janitor, just cleaning up after everyone else...
  11. but without grouchy S.O.B's like me, everything would run so smoothly...
  12. Dave, lest you forget, I am a stick in the mud...
  13. I could be the grumpiest 31 year old on the board... There are a couple things you don't mess with... My friends, my family, and my football team...
  14. Sir, you are absolutely correct, I HATE this offense... Not easing into the WCO is just plain stupid. How's it going to work when your best reciever is your tight end. You work into it when you're able to recruit reciever that are up to the task. Not saying that our guys aren't up to the task, but you see my point...
  15. I would love to run the ball, but NOOOOOOOOO... See, i'm not a "coach", but when you throw the ball on 1st down, you put yourself in a hole.. I would imagine that, yes, the WCO does work... you just need a coach that knows it...
  16. They make Rich Kotite, look compitent... Now only if I could spell...
  17. They have a hell of a tough time scoring, if they don't have the ball...
  18. I'm already in... I don't think anyone will copy me, because I don't know what the hell i'm talkin about anyway
  19. Callahan is killing our tradition... And SP isn't helping matters any...
  20. I guess i'm a stick in the mud. I love the ground and pound style of the days of yore. I used to love seeing the opposing D-linemen looking like they were about to meet their maker halfway through the 3rd quarter. If I had a nickel for every big game I've seen that we won, that it was close through the first half, then halfway through the 3rd quarter, we'd just run away with it, i'd be rich... I think passing is for pansies and only good for ESPN's top plays. You want to earn your money, get down and run it up the gut...
  21. Well, then it was incredibly naive of him to think he'd just come in and change the offense. Smart money would have worked into this little by little. Jumping into the WCO with both feet, is, for my money, downright stupid. For example, how many interceptions has Joe Dailey thrown so far? Enough to choke a dozen donkeys. There are several reasons for it, but the main one is, the WCO...
  22. Yeah, but now with Callahan there, do you even think the kids that are walking on, even have a chance to compete?
  23. ok, that it may well be, but, that told me something about those kids trying to walk on... That they made it, they might not have the most talent in the world, but they had heart and guts... And like they said in Full Metal Jackets, "guts is enough"...
