  1. Brady Hoke. Not an alum, but he did coach at Michigan for several years.
  2. While I appreciate the sacrifices that our servicemen make, I fail to see why their sacrifice gives them the right to treat people like crap and think it's okay. Because you're "men" and can say stuff that "would make most women break down and cry", acting like that doesn't make one a man or tough, it just makes them look like an ignorant douchebag IMO. A women does not need to earn respect by "throwing" a comeback, a woman, or anyone else for that matter, should get respect because they are a human. Why should someone have to earn the respect of people who act like a-holes? Why does anyone care what those type of people respect anyway? i served, and its not that its used as an excuse to treat people like crap. in fact, 99.9% of the time its a sign of affection. i had a first sergeant that used to say nothing will ever get done unless you use more cuss and derogatory words than the actual words of your order. the point 321 is trying to make is that with the stigma or whatever surrounding the equal treatment of women, treating everyone the same can actually come back and bite you in the ass if said woman gets upset at any point. people act like they want a level playing field, but its still slanted, and not the way you think. the reason a lot of women in the military are treated 'different' isnt because they are thought of as less of a soldier or what have you, its because they are a grenade with no pin. I've heard many abusive parents and husbands make the same arguments, "I only do it because I love her\them". Not saying this is always true, but in my experiences the people who resort to tactics like your sergeant are typically just not intelligent or dedicated enough to motivate people without using intimidation or holding their power over their head. And typically they are just passing down what has been dumped on them in the past. I grew up in that environment, and think that there are always better ways to accomplish things. The true measure of a persons integrity and honor is found in the way they treat those lower, or weaker than themselves is my experience. Dont know what you do for a living, but the bold statement has been true of every BOSS ive ever had, Male or Female!Pretty sure its the norm, and while i dont think its particularly right either, most of them feel its well within their rights as a boss to treat people whatever way they want. Unfortunately many of the weaker people you speak of Know they have the power to destroy your carrer, sue you, and otherwise ruin your life, and wont hesitate to use it, many times for VERY minor things. THATS intimidation from the other side as far as im concerned. The better way to deal with things IMO is face to face, using management/lawsuits only in serious cases where option 1 doesnt work. I am a IT Manager at a fairly large health system, I do manage people. And I beleive in the no a-hole rule fully, if you haven't read this book, it's a good read. http://bobsutton.typepad.com/my_weblog/the_no_asshole_rule/ And BTW...this video is funny, and rings true for many people.
  3. To where? who knows. He can't go to a Big Ten school. B10 rules prohibit this, he won't be able to get a scholarship Um...Justin Boren got a scholarship when he transferred to Ohio State. No he didn't http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/news/story?id=3363195 Boren, who went to high school in a Columbus, Ohio, suburb, will be paying his own way at Ohio State for the rest of his collegiate career. Under Big Ten rules, he will not be able to receive an athletic scholarship from the Buckeyes.
  4. When Taylor said it he was saying that he was leading 100+ players and that it was his team (which wasn't true), the seniors and players that had actually earned respect in the locker room were slapped in the face. Bubba said he thinks he can come in and physically perform better than Taylor, I think there is a big difference between the two statements. However I still prefer Jamal's confidence and do whatever the team needs attitude over what Bubba said. I guess I just beleive in letting your play or actions do the bragging rather than your words.

  6. http://nebraska.rivals.com/content.asp?CID=1171615 There's a quote in a Rivals article where he says he's committed to Nebraska, if Watson were to go, he knows they'd find a suitable replacement, FWIW.
  7. Absolutely, there's a long list of players that have done it both ways. Some have started in football, then went baseball, some have done the opposite.

  9. 88th in total defense. thats not average, thats horrible. Saying they're average is pretty generous. Thats like saying Nebraska offense is "ok"(28th I believe) but you and I both know thats not true. 44th after the bowl in total offense, 39th in scoring offense. Above average, not good enough. 113th in passing 112th in tackles for loss 9th in rushing offense The rest is here http://web1.ncaa.org/football/exec/rankingSummary?year=2010&org=463
  10. http://www.youtube.c...1svCSEg#t=1m24s I'm not sure that throwing a pass that made his WR dive to catch exactly is a great argument.
  11. OSU had an awful game plan, really. That and the WR's just played out of their minds that day, that is probably the best a Ted Gilmore unit has ever looked, go back and check some of those grabs they made in that highlight. One other thing to note, thanks to Caputo's inability to do much of anything besides get pushed backwards down the stretch, we lost our ability to run inside down the stretch, watch how many dives and inside zone plays we ran early in the year, then the end. It makes me want to cry. I will add something to my criticism of Taylor though, he's only really in his 3rd year of playing QB at any significant level, his trouble reading defenses are not from a lack of intelligence or talent, it's a lack of experience (and dedication). To ask QB's to come in and learn our route concepts is not easy, it's plagued Cody Green's development and definitely Taylor's. I would love to get away from the WCO route bases in our offense completely, it's tough to get the best receivers on the field with and makes our QB's jobs more difficult IMO.
  12. LOL, Taylor can't even get the mechanics down of passing out of the pocket, can't figure out how to read the defense properly standing still with progressions, has horrible pocket presence, carries the ball like a loaf of bread, and you think they should be moving him around? Maybe he should focus on things in the pocket before we move him around. And if Barney can't figure out how to pass protect with a simple drop back, you really think he can teach them to roll the pocket?
  13. To where? who knows. He can't go to a Big Ten school. B10 rules prohibit this, he won't be able to get a scholarship Robinson was very close with high school teamate Adrian Witty who was a Michigan commit that was denied admission, he is now playing at Cincinatti, so that might be a possibility. I could also see UCF or USF if he wanted to go back home. Not sure he fits with what FSU, Florida or Miami is looking for in a QB. Maybe Auburn or Mississippi State?
  14. Taylor in the open field at OSU... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wkdc4rsIH7o#t=1m34s
  15. When Taylor gets outside of the pocket he takes his eyes off of the receivers and has to decide whether to run or pass, decision making isn't a strong point for Taylor at this time, nor is reading defenses, ESPECIALLY if he has to take his eyes off the receivers as he rolls out. We saw Taylor throwing on the run in the CCG and it was a pick in the end zone. We saw Taylor repeatedly try to flip the ball downfield on the run in the Holiday Bowl. Just being fast doesn't make Taylor competent in making reads or decisions with the ball. He had enough trouble with that stading still in the pocket.
  16. Rich Rodriguez has been canned
  17. He will be chosing from UCLA, Stanford and Michigan according to Rivals. Obviously coaching staff shakeups could change this, but it doesn't look good for us.
  18. Here are the 11 QB's that started for the most part in the Big Ten in 2010 Denard Robinson- 6'0" 193lbs Nathan Scheelhaase- 6'3" 195lbs Rob Henry- 6'2" 198 lbs Kirk Cousins- 6'3" 202lbs Scott Tolzien- 6'0" 205lbs Matt McGloin- 6'1" 209lbs Dan Persa- 6'1" 210lbs Adam Weber- 6'3" 221lbs Ricky Stanzi- 6'4" 230lbs Terrelle Pryor- 6'6" 235lbs Ben Chappel- 6'3" 240lbs And Nebraska's QB's Jamal Turner- 6'1" 175lbs Brion Carnes- 6'1" 190lbs Taylor Martinez- 6'1" 205lbs Cody Green- 6'4" 225lbs Bubba Starling- 6'5" 193lbs
  19. Not sure where you got that Oglesby and Konz "have not broken into the starting line-up"? Oglesby started 3 games his freshmen year, 10 games his sophomore year (injured in others), and started the first two games this year before hurting his knee, he played in a few other games, but had knee surgery in December. He has had a ton of injuries that have set him back, but was preseason 2nd team All-Big Ten according to Phil Steele and was on the Outland Trophy watch list. Konz started 9 games in 2009 and 10 games this year, he also got injured. He was a freshman All-American by sporting news last year, honorable mention All-Big Ten team and was on the watch list for the Rimington Trophy. However, they should get credit for coaching, they have injuries and another player steps in and plays at a high level. We have injuries and those players are kept on the field despite obvious deficiencies in their games post injury (Caputo being destroyed, Williams and Henry unable to make it on their pulling assignments).
  20. Tevin and Charles are rooming together at the game, and have been very close so far this week according to Rivals, but aren't discussing recruiting according to Charles.
  21. Speed means nothing if you can't get them the ball, or block for them. Niles Paul is the fastest player on the team, how'd that work out for him over 4 years overall? He never came close to his potential here, lots of it was his fault, but a bigger part was his position coach, and playing with 4 QB's in 4 years. Currenski Gilleylen is also very fast, but he doesn't sniff the field. Our offense is not really designed to take advantage of speed, our best receivers were two guys who while not completely slow, could not keep up in a foot race with the two mentioned. Yet in our WR schemes, they got themselves open and made catches. I've yet to see our offensive staff take advantage of speed except for Taylor for about 6-7 games. Now if you're talking defense? Yes, our speed is an advantage on that side of the ball.
  22. We also could have won the title at A&M and came out and played like crap. We need playmakers to step up at WR? Who? What based off of the last 3 years of this offensive staff makes you think WR's will step up? This is the 2nd worst position on our team over the past 3 years. And to the worst position over the past 3 years, the OL. We lose Williams who's started 3 years for us, Henry who's started 2 years. Were they great? Nope, but the guys behind them apparantly weren't good enough to play above them despite injuries. Sirles had some moments, A-Rod has some talent. Caputo isn't going to magically grow 3 inches and put on 30 lbs, in fact with his surgery on his knee he may go backwards. RG? Qvale? Can he stay healthy? RT, Marcel, if healthy could be a good one. The game is won and lost in the trenches, and on the offensive side of the ball, we just don't have the talent yet, and sure don't have the coaching.
  23. Most of it was his recruiting notes and player notes IIRC.
  24. Funny that our #2 and #3 QB's had the maturity to swallow the disappointment of not being QB1, yet were still willing to suck it up and talk to the media. Yet QB1 rarely talks to the media, and when he does he makes stupid comments that it's "my team and no one else’s team".
  25. Yeah but they all have 8 months to break down just us, whereas we have to break them all down!!! This is just not right, every team breaks down every other team every year. In the Big Ten you have completely new coaching staffs at Minnesota and Indiana already, possibly the same at Michigan, Michigan State will have a new OC, Purdue has had staff turnover, Wisconsin has lost their DC and their OC is rumored to be in the running for a few jobs, OSU's coaches are in the mix for a few positions, and the coaching carousel is still spinning with the Pitt and UCONN jobs still open. Point being, there is no such thing as relying on what a team did the previous year in planning for a current year.
