  1. I, too, am an old, old Cornhusker fan. My family's Cornhusker tradition goes all the way back to Bugeaters! As frustrating as a loss like this is, as frustrating as it is to lose to anyone 4 times in a row and to lose big in our own stadium, I still like the direction Mr. Pelini is taking this team. Yes, we are very weak in some key areas. Yes, we are inconsistent. No, we are not playing to our potential yet, but I challenge anyone to find a team that has come back so quickly from the destruction of their program (and our team was completely destroyed) as Mr. Pelini is doing with our beloved Cornhuskers. I almost never post on here, but I will go to the guns for Mr. Pelini and this team because he is doing an incredible job with what he inherited. He will build it and they will come. But it will take YEARS, not one or two seasons. What was destroyed at Nebraska cannot quickly and easily be replaced. It took decades to get where we were before Pedersen gutted it with an implosion. It won't be back in two, or even five, maybe not even ten seasons, but it will be back. In this age of instant gratification, we have a golden opportunity to learn patience, dedication, and good, old-fashioned hard work as we rebuild our team. Booing at our team is NOT part of the process, but knowing that our players are playing their hearts out, not giving up (I'm proud of them!), and doing their absolute best are the hallmarks of what made our team great. Making it through these times will make the winning years so much more sweeter. Take it from me, I've been through all this before. The recovery and adjustment weren't so major before, but Mr. Pelini has the right stuff to get us exactly where we want to go. A journey of a thousand miles takes awhile. We had a million miles to go when he took over.
  2. Well, actually, 81,000 PAID to see the spring practice. I like seeing what other fans say when they compare themselves to us. It's just another level of ignorance that's funny to see, in this case.
  3. In the press conference after CU's spring game: Handler (in a back and neck brace): "I just blew an assignment and the play got away from me. This is why we have to practice; but, I'm thinking it would help the team if I moved to buffalo chip boy. I'll see a lot more playing time, too, I think." Ralphie: "What green jersey? He was there, man. I had to hit him. It's what I was recruited to do--wasn't I? It was great finally getting an open field run, man." Then everyone, including the reporters, toqued up, ate 100 bags of nachos and made disparaging remarks about the ancestors of all Husker fans.
  4. And I'd add--"no matter what the outcome of the game is. They play 100% heart until the final whistle blows."

  6. Anybody remember when everyone knew what we were going to run, and we still made big yards anyway? The defenses adjusted, they had people where they should be, but we just blew over or around them. Those were the days...

  8. I was born with a Big Red N on my chest, in Nebraska City. I've always bled red. My first wife was a Lincolnite who couldn't care less about football. We're divorced, needless to say. My second wife was born in Hong Kong and emigrated to the US and not only is she a fan now, but my step kids (one of whom is destined to go to U of Texas next year--oh well) are staunch Nebraska fans. They can't all be born Husker fans, but they sure can show their genetic superiority by marrying into the family.
