  1. I couldn't agree more. In a couple of our games this year, both losses, it seemed like when Taylor was pulled from the game (by choice or by injury) Cody was expected to come in and run the same game plan. I watched with the rest of you as he sat back trying to do his best T-Magic zone read impersonation and failed miserably. It just looked like he was totally out of his comfort zone. In the Colorado game he had a different look -- HIS look, if you will. We didn't pass much, because we didn't need to. But, 10/13 with no INTs was great. Back to the thread subject regarding the Oklahoma game though -- let's look at stats vs our most recent common opponent, OK State....our games had a very similar type of feel to them....we both beat them AT OK State in a high scoring game. In fact, they scored 41 against both teams at home, while losing. Sort of a scary stat for them! Anyway, the break-down...... Passing: Huskers: 23/35, 323 yards, 5 TD, 0 INT Sooners: 37/62, 468 yards, 4 TD, 3 INT Rushing: Huskers: 44 rushes for 217 yards, 4.9 yards/carry, 1 fumble lost Sooners: 45 rushes for 120 yards, 2.7 yards/carry, 0 fumbles lost Time of Possession: Huskers: 34:45 Sooners: 35:24 Defense.... Huskers allowed 212 yards rushing, 283 yards passing, 495 yards total, forced 0 fumbles and got 1 INT Sooners allowed 122 yards rushing, 257 yards passing, 379 yards total, forced 0 fumbles and got 3 INTs The defensive yards allowed and interceptions allowed look like the biggest variables. Huskers defense allowed 100+ more yards of total offense, gained 100+ yards less than the Sooners on offense, and still came out with about the same final score due to the turnover difference. I think if the Huskers can protect the ball on offense and be disruptive on defense, this will be a very close game. If the turnover margin is even, the edge in this game slides toward the favor of the Sooners. With or without Martinez, I just hope the decision is made already by now, and we can spend the week preparing for the game with whichever QB is going to hopefully be able to play for 4 quarters. I don't see a QB change mid-game working out in our favor regardless of the circumstances. GO BIG RED!! (oh, and the "to go" cartoon is awesome!)
  2. This Saturday is their last chance. If they're out to get us, we'll find out then. Otherwise, enough with the conspiracy theories as far as I'm concerned. It doesn't matter. We're moving to another conference, and the last thing we need to do is show up there with a chip on our shoulder. New, fresh start. Let's focus on a positive outlook instead of a pessimistic history!
  3. You can ask 5 people the same question and they'll have your exact same stories with the brand names interchanged. If you want quality, you want a Panasonic Toughbook. Otherwise, there's simply no one out there making a quality laptop. You simply have to treat them carefully!
  4. Most important things, in order: - Screen size you want - Operating system you want (XP or Win7 - DO NOT get Vista) - Memory (XP - >=1gb, Vista or 7 >=4gb) - Preferences - webcam, numeric keypad support, navigation buttons, play/rewind/mute/etc buttons - Battery Life - Weight - Brand Name (Yes, I meant to put this LAST. It just doesn't matter, unless you're buying a Toughbook and want to spend $2500+) I'm not seeing any great deals at the moment -- take a look on Friday: http://www.newegg.com http://www.tigerdirect.com http://www.geeks.com http://www.buy.com
  5. Please, no red flags. The yellow flags were bad enough! Seriously though -- I can't believe Bo kept his tongue tamed in the post-game meeting. I did like the "we gave them 6 but they scored 9" comment, but I was totally expecting a lashing of the refs like had never been heard before. I wonder if TO was in contact with Bo in those few minutes between the end of the game and the interview. Bo seemed harnessed.
  6. Greetings fellow Huskers! I'm one of the behind-the-scenes guys that helps out with server issues from time to time for Chad and the HB crew. I saw this forum and figured I'd put a little bit of information out there for you all. Enjoy! There is an outstanding tool out there called MALWAREBYTES. It's become such a great tool for our computer repair department that it's nearly the only tool we use to clean up computers. You can download it here: http://www.malwarebytes.org The free version should be just fine. Once you download it, you'll need to run it to have it actually on your computer and running. Just accept all the default choices. At the end of the installation it will automatically update itself and open up - let it do this. IF it doesn't update, you have a more severe problem and should contact a professional or seek further self-help sites on the net that are outside of the scope of this document. (HINT: search for HiJackThis - but be very careful!) You can also feel free to contact my office using the contact information at the bottom of this post. Once the updates are done it will return you to the main screen of MalwareBytes. Click on the option to do a quick scan - it's the first option in the list. Let it do its thing, and while it's doing it, don't use your computer. In fact, before starting the scan, it would be a good idea to close down all programs you have running. This will allow the program to run faster and have a better chance of cleaning up any problems. Once the scan is done, you'll have an option to view/fix the problems that were found. Do this, and if prompted to reboot it's IMPERATIVE that you do the reboot right away. After rebooting (if necessary) come back in to MalwareBytes and run the full scan. Again, you will likely need to reboot when it's complete. Continue running reboots and full scans until the scans come up clean. IF your scans continue to come up with the same infection, again, it's probably your best bet to contact a professional. Repeat the entire process above (other than the program download) under each user account your computer has, if you happen to have more than one account. Once finished, we HIGHLY suggest changing your computer so that you have one single account with administrative access, and one account (or more) that are restricted/limited users. NEVER use the administrative account unless you're specifically wanting to do updates to your computer. This will make it so that when you're online on Facebook, MySpace, Youtube, Yahoo, etc, that if you accidentally run in to a virus installer, your computer will not allow you to run and execute the virus. THIS ALONE is enough to prevent you not only from getting viruses on your computer in the first place, but to not have to trouble yourself with anti-virus software, which makes your computer work MUCH better in the first place. Now, it would probably be foolish not to have some kind of anti-virus software, but I personally don't use anything on my own computers. Running with limited accounts has worked flawlessly for me. Once that's all done, you'll want to do some disk cleanup - most Windows computers have a disk cleanup utility that you can run. This is the safest option. If you want to get under the hood of your computer and do some more advanced things, you can click on START, then RUN (or just type in the search box for Vista and Win7 computers): msconfig .... That will bring up a utility that lets you disable certain services and startup programs in a very easy manner. If you've set up the administrator user as described above, you'll need to run this command as that administrative user. Don't just shut everything off -- that will have VERY bad effects on your computer. I typically go through and search Google for everything I find there. This will give you a good concept of what is actually on your computer, why it's there, and you can use your brain if you want to shut things off or not. Oftentimes people have old printer and camera drivers loading that they no longer need. You can also use your computers "Add and Remove Programs" utility to uninstall software that you no longer want. You should NEVER just delete the program folder from C:\Program Files\Whatever -- this would make it so the uninstall process would not work properly for most programs. If you have any questions, feel free to post back here, but I really don't get on here too often, so you might want to contact me outside the board. My contact information is below. You can also do a remote support session with me if you'd like me to look at something for you. Our standard rates would apply for this service.
  7. This is too funny - watch this video at 50 seconds into it. The coach is talking about another player, but it shows footage of Suh getting triple-teamed. I guess he's making an impact, even in training camp! GO SUH! Suh Triple-teamed - 50 seconds in Look for #90 in white - he comes out from behind 3 O-linemen about 9 seconds later.
  8. Looks like he showed up today: http://www.mlive.com/lions/index.ssf/2010/08/photo_gallery_ndamukong_suh_ge.html

  12. Yeah, Pud did a great job with the VB team. My sister played quite a few years ago and she's still pretty in-touch with what's going on with the team. She was appalled that Pud got fired.....though she emailed me yesterday saying she had to admit she was happy to see Dr. Tom back on campus. And....yeah, he's right. Cooper needs to close the block. Also - just on the outside chance that either of you middles are reading this. WATCH YOUR HITTERS!! I've been watching you and you're out of position. I keep seeing middles running 31s etc and you're in limbo between the setter and the middle on the other side. Know when the setter is back row and camp on the hitter. If the setter is front, your outside hitter has the responsibility of blocking the setter.
  13. Unfortunately I think you're probably just about exactly right. It's not hard to imagine BC yelling at everyone just like he yells at the refs all through the game. Sort of reminds me of my wife.
  14. Duck..... Duck.... Duck.... GOOSE!
  15. I about PUKED when I was listening to JR interviewing BC after the game. BC actually said something like "You know, probably no one out here is hurting as much as I am." GIVE ME A BREAK. BC - GO BACK WHERE YOU CAME FROM. :asshat
  16. No way. The volleyball team is kicking ass. That would just disgrace them. Now....there's a thought. Perhaps we should suit up the volleyball team and put them on defense!!
  17. In previous years, they were. Now it seems as though ESPN, Fox Sports, and everyone else would rather show a game that's going to be something people want to watch. Apparently they don't think many people watch games that end up 70-3. I'd say they're right. Don't get me wrong -- I'd LOVE to see the Huskers each week like we used to "back in the good ole days". Unfortunately we're going to have to improve before that happens. Regarding Osborne and character -- what the others said pretty much sums it up. Don't let rumors confuse the facts. Osborne is the definition of character. If you find yourself in a crowded bar sometime, I'd suggest not challenging this fact, or your safety might be in jeopardy.
  18. I'm afraid you're going to be quite disappointed. I'll be amazed if we win one game for the rest of the season. I think our only chance is Colorado.

  23. Wow. Great company there. Not sure by our record we really belong THAT far down, but that's some sub-mediocre company if I ever saw any..... ESPN.com's Bottom 10 RANK TEAM RECORD 1. FIU 0-6 2. Utah State 0-6 3. Colorado State 0-6 4. Marshall 0-6 5. Nebraska 4-3 6. Idaho 1-6 7. Northern Illinois 1-6 8. Iowa State 1-6 9. U-L U-Pick 'em 2-11 10. Syracuse 1-6
  24. Talk about a powerhouse. These ladies are the BEST. Everyone is all down in the dumps about how badly our football team is doing. They should model after the volleyball program. Classy coach, great teamwork, and outstanding talent that continues to come to Nebraska. There's only a handful of 6'5" women in the league this season ..... two of them, probably the best, are both at Nebraska. (One from Canada and one from Colorado....ie, recruiting) My sister played for the VB team back in 85-89. The transition of the program from then to now is just amazing. I think when she started playing there tickets were like $2 or something, and around 300 fans would show for the average game. Now they're filling any venue they play in. 2nd place in 2005, 1st in 2006, and on the way for a title again this year. Simply amazing. Callahan -- take a look!
