  1. I don't agree with this at all...none of it, except for MAYBE Texas recruiting, however...with the staff in place that we do have...and the natural ties Bo and Carl have to the State of OHIO, we'll be fine. This staff can develop! We don't necessarily NEED Texas recruits to be good. We want them, yes, but its not the end of the world because now we'd be tapping into the Northeast Sector of the nation, and its recruiting grounds. Recruiting will not fall off very much if at all. Um...the big 10 would not be an easier schedule. It would actually be tougher. Especially with the move of Pitt Rutgers and Syracuse along with it. Staying in the big12 would only be "easier" I like the thought of Nebraska vs Iowa. Maybe thats just me. I've never liked the big12, Nebraska has no True rival except for maybe Missouri or Colorado, and we'd be getting Missouri in this move so, which ever way you look at it...just put some thought into it and it only ends up making sense that we move.
  2. you have to realize that its not really going to be the big 10 anymore. just adding a team with Nebraska's caliber improves the conference greatly. you have OSU, Penn St, Nebraska, Iowa, Wisconsin, Michigan. I think that more powerful than Texas, Oklahoma, Texas Tech, Nebraska, Okie State agree 100% +1 As far as high caliber teams, I dont think the afternoon nap confrence has half of what th big 12 does. They pound on each other and get high into the rankings. Then they play a confrence with teams that know more than 2 passing plays and get schlacked. I.e. Ohio State...year, after year, after year. I guess Ohio State didn't beat up on Oregon this past year huh? or was just 1 breakdown away from beating Texas the year before. Just because Ohio State got beat up by a Florida and LSU team in consecutive national titles. Everyone says they don't deserve a shot. Get a clue people. Ohio State is the same Ohio State that took down the almighty Hurricanes in 2002. As far as I'm concerned they only got blown out in those title games by an SEC school. But isn't that kind of happening to everyone? Getting beat by the SEC powerhouse of that respective year? It really doesn't take much thought to really know what your saying, so just put a little bit of thought into it before going off on how Big10 has no merit in bowl games.
  3. who freaking cares...probably because their season ended sooner than SEC or USC's and now that will change. People who say this act like its some kind of superstition or whatever. Get a clue
  4. I kind of expected this board to be going crazy...not much buzz going on right at the moment.

  6. ya, um...real ballsy post. I don't believe it but, if it happens it will make the offseason probably the best offseason we've had around here. Crazy to think about, and honestly I hope you are right.
  7. 1. Scott Frost 2. Ahman Green 3. Mike Brown top 3 most despised 1. Randy Stella 2. DeAngelo Evans 3. Jamal Lord I'm just glad I grew up while nebraska was good rather than mediocre. Too many young guns today like LSU, UT, UF etc...the kids I coached in lincoln for midget football liked Nebraska but they weren't their favorite team. LSU, OU and UT were big favorites in that group of kids I had.
  8. no crap...i've been hearing alot of this....people seem to think we are just going to form into a traditional big 10 school...hell no. People think about this come on.
  9. doesn't really matter does it? You still watch, and the market for college football is bigger and better than ever. I'm soooooo for a move to the big10...I just did a research paper and power point presentation on the subject and the longer I worked on it, the more I thought to myself that this would probably be in the best interest for the UNIVERSITY not just football...but the entire system.
  10. No, I just don't like them...when you hear about how their fans think that their defense was better than ours regardless of stats its just naturally frustrating, or laughable...i'm not sure which yet. However I would just love to kick their butts year in and year out. Make an attempt at scheduling them every year please, cuz a switch in conferences it probably too unrealistic.
  11. all the more reason to switch conferences and have a rival. cough *Iowa* cough. I hate the hawkeyes almost more than anyone in the big 12.
  12. I knew Brooks was a talent and he wasn't helped out by the previous staff first of all. Secondly am I the only one that thought he was a playmaker? Or had the ability to be? I know he broke his leg when he first came in to Lincoln but after another 4-5 years he seemed alright. I've never been a fan of Gilmore either, I think its time all loose ends be tied up, I figured Bo would have done this after the first year, because he got the defense figured out. However I feel that Bo kept Gilmore around because he's a damn good recruiter. Now, what we should do is just have Gilmore be strictly recruiting coordinator. eh?
  13. It really makes sense every way you look at it, except for the fact that it may hurt recruiting for football. However a change to the Big10 would definitely help our already awesome volleyball program...how about a rival team like Penn St? The big 10 has a huge wrestling market. Nebraska is one of 5 or 6 schools in the big 12 that even offers the sport, again great move. Basketball - don't know, don't care. Baseball, well we can't get any worse can we right now? TV exposure would be killer for football. Almost every game would be on tv. Not to mention a natural rival with Iowa. I used to be completely against this but in the big picture for whats best for the university this would be the way to go, AND we could do something like Illinois and schedule missouri every year, except with our case it could be Oklahoma. Rivalry restored! I would say go for it. With a staff like we have, we'd be able to recruit well enough and develop them no problem.
  14. I wonder if they let anyone make any offensive play calls besides Watson for the spring game. Like in the 2nd half or something.
  15. Has there ever been a coaching staff movement where someone that was an Offensive Coordinator been demoted and still kept on staff? I was just wondering because, what if say...Barney Cotton were to call plays again? Say Shawn Watson were to leave. Would we bring someone in to call plays or would it be Cotton, Beck, Gilmore? Thoughts. Personally I would like to see us pursue Scott Frost as a future Offensive Coordinator.
  16. We don't wear scarlet and cream. Its red and white. All reds look good only because we have a white helmet. If you did the long knee high white socks with it and white shoe sleeves it would be awesome. I hope we change something just so I can hear all the traditional guys blow a gasket and blame why we played the way we did cuz of a uniform.
  17. AGREE 100%! Brion Carnes will compete for QB in a couple years. Just watch his video's on youtube. You'll have an idea of the skill set he brings to the table. As for Turner, I haven't seen as much on him. Small or not, he'll play QB. Especially with the movement towards a heavy running game rather that pure passing.
  18. Are you kidding me? why are you focusing on that during a game? Get off the kids back, he plays for who/what he believes. Its not like he's being hypocritical. I've seen players put "MOM" or "DAD" on their eyeblack before. I suppose their respective parent may have had a horrible accident and their child has that because it has a special meaning to him. Now i'm not saying you hate Tim Tebow but it seems as if when Tebow is called out or hated its for his faith. Thats terrible. One of the most influential QB's to play the game in modern history and he will be remembered by the people that hate him purely on his faith. Yet everyone loves the players that go beat up their wives/girlfriends, or rape minors (Ben R) Oh well, i'm me and your you...thats why were different.
  19. Do any of you recruitniks know who was after Scott Frost, Joe Ganz, Tommie Frazier, and/or Eric Crouch? with all due respect, those QB's were also recruited for a COMPLETELY different style of offense, with the exception of Joe Ganz. As much as Joe Ganz helped Nebraska ease its way back a little bit before the defense really got good. I wouldn't put anywhere near the group or quality of QB as those guys. I loved Ganz I'm glad we had him, but c'mon guys...seriously, think a little.
  20. 1. One day does not define an entire spring. Those reports of the offense having the upper hand...I have not seen any. I've only seen that the offense can score this spring against our defense. Nothing more. 2. Obviously Martinez is probably too athletic for his own good haha. He'll get his minutes, will he start? No, Zac Lee will again be the starter. Book it 3. Not surprising, Green may have been a 4 star (for you star gazers) However if you really want to know how good a recruit is. Look at his list of choices and offers. That tells the story a whole lot more than those shiny gold things by their names. One more interesting fact, Rivals offers kids to pay for extra stars, I heard that from a kid from Lincoln SE earlier this fall when their running back Zac Taylor was being recruited. Cody Green's choices/offers per rivals 1. Nebraska 2. Baylor 3. Boston College 4. Houston 5. Mississippi St 6. Oklahoma St 7. Stanford (before they were decent) 8. Texas A&M 9. Texas Tech (does make sense cuz he can't pass) I dunno, maybe i'm just being pesamistic right now but Green will be lucky to see the field at Nebraska again, maybe i'm wrong...who knows its just an opinion based off of comments i've gathered from multiple different people.
  21. Tonight i've really been bothered by the fact that we don't play oklahoma every year. It normally never really bothered me but I would really like to see it happen year in and year out. So I was thinking about a possible alignment that would let us do so. I couldn't really think of anything really attractive in terms of expansion but what if we downsized? take 2 teams out and do like the pac 10 does and play 9 conference games (everyone goes head to head) and 3 non conference? thoughts?
  22. I have no problem with a team being cocky if they can back it up and it stays under control during games...meaning no one standing over someone after they just light some one up. Nebraska has this "swagger" coming back...just look at the 90's teams and how they acted on the field during games. Not so much cocky but they had swagger with a bit of cockiness in it. no denying that.
  23. No offense, but the 2010 class shouldn't be there except for the few that enrolled early. The others we won't see till fall camp.
  24. Thanks a million Landlord! you are the best!
  25. I personally would be absolutely PO'd if we were worse than 10-2 maybe even 11-1. Any other thoughts?
