As @knapplc posted earlier (maybe it was a different thread), there's a really big difference between the baker refusing to make cakes for gay couples and the restaurant owner refusing SHS service. The first is discriminatory because it's not based on the person or their actions but rather based on a protected class. The second is about Sanders as a person and her specific actions.

If you want neutrality, then shouldn't you also criticize those on the right that are crying about the same issue? Hypocritical statements aren't very convincing.

It was already taken care of, I was just acknowledging what was omitted instead of reiterating what was already said in the quote I was responding to.

I appreciate calling me hypocritical which I am not.

i forgot I’m in the extreme left tribal echo chamber

I think they definitely should be able to refuse service to someone, within the limits of what we as a society determine are protected classes.

With regard to the Sanders situation, I think @methodical had a good post in another thread about this:

I saw someone tweet out something similar yesterday as well. Accountability is merely an afterthought in the Trump administration. We the people have very little if any recourse against Donald Trump or Scott Pruitt grifting from their official position, Jared Kushner screwing up his financial disclosure forms multiple times, Ivanka getting herself Chinese trademarks or SHS lying to our faces at press briefings. There's no accountability. This incident, in spite of all the pearl clutching from pundits and politicians, actually demonstrates someone effectively using leverage against a Trump admin official for their awful behavior.

The owner handled everything the right way. The way I heard it, she actually asked her workers, who as a group decided they were uncomfortable with Trump administration people on the basis of their anti-LGBT agenda, so the owner asked her to leave on the basis of her employees' wishes. She politely stated a moral objection to Sanders eating there & comped the cheese plate & drinks the group had already ordered.

I guess I don't see how the same folks who applaud a baker's right to refuse based on religion & designed bathroom bills on the basis of gender can get upset about this.

Yea, you're right. You can't forget to also mention those on the left who are applauding Sanders being kicked out who are still crying about the bakery. But, it's huskerboard so we can't show any sort of neutrality can we.

  3. When reading that, it sounds like to me that his goals are not to be committed to the game of football and he used it as a means to get free schooling.

Can't use those type of guys. Obviously want our kids to be committed to their academics but you can do both. I like that we are rooting these guys out of the locker room -- I abhor the "don't care" attitude (Not that Decker truly didn't care, just read it as that)

With regard to the bolded. Are you sure? I thought DBs were supposed to line up 10 yards off the LOS and follow the receivers around. After watching the past 3 years, I thought it was illegal to touch a receiver.

He (Dewitt) was talking about OLB pass coverage. I didn’t go see the DB coach

edit: oops I see your sarcasm now

  5. I don’t want to pee in anyone’s Cheerios, and I’ll be listening to Greg Austin today during small group sessions at the Clinic, but, is it not ironic that one of the players included in the last decades “weakest” area of the team is now leading our OL?

disclaimer: I really believe in this whole staff including Austin. I just thought it was funny. Obviously great coaches didn’t have to be great players

Who was Nebraska's last, true, "homerun" threat at RB?  I want to say Ahman Green back in 1997.  Have we had a legit homerun threat since then?  (Disclaimer: we may have, but I honestly cannot think of one.)

What's the definition of "homerun"? Speed? Speed+Agility?

Great Scheme and execution and talented OL can give the appearance of homerun threat as well. Although I agree that Ahman was a homerun threat. I always felt Helu could have been that guy, but severely limited by anemic OL play.

  7. @RedDenver That first year with Frost at UCF is also a team that was 0-12 the year before. The talent on this NU squad is much better than the 4 wins they got last year.

UCF's talent returned....I don't know anything about but you have to either be a terrible terrible coach to go 0-12, or just not have the horses. I would think it was the lack of horses, considering O'Leary took them to a BCS bowl once.

That’s because you promised to be a die hard if we hired Frost.

    Apathy cured. :)

I will say for those talking about tickets. My buddy who is a donor bought all 20 tickets for a group of us old High School pals and our wives to go and sit together.

    I am pumped!

I’m pretty sure a very large portion goes to the teammates mentoring program as well.

The 100-level seats in East Stadium should be the old upper tier of Memorial Stadium before the expansion. I think those are still the old bench style seats, but it's a decent place to watch a game.  I think @Coach Power'T sat in these seats in the last couple of years and could talk more about them.  They'll have a good view if you like seeing the game from the sidelines.  I prefer seeing the game from the end zone so I can watch blocking & plays develop a little more, so we sit in the north end zone (Sec 35).

The Club level, especially in East Stadium (400 level) is a very nice, almost brand-new facility.  There is a huge lobby behind the seats, a view of the city to the east, and access is pretty easy.  It's a nice place to watch a game.  The crowds in Club level are a little boring. They're the first to leave, the last to arrive, and they're mostly fair-weather fans - as in, when it gets cold half of them are inside the lobby the whole game.  If you like sitting on the side, and want some extra amenities, those are good seats and you should take them.

I don't know anything about suite-level seats.  Never had a chance to sit there.

@knapplc We sat in the 100 level in the NE portion for last years game against Oregon. I enjoyed the view. The game we hit in 2015 was the Minnesota game at home. Where we sat in the new addition on the East side. I honestly think the new addition is the best place to sit. I freaking love it up there.

West Stadium club level is great too if it's cold out during halftime. (Obviously)

  10. The players all petitioned and lobbied for Mario Cristobal to be named HC and it obviously worked. They took the interim tag off him yesterday. Trying to salvage the class. Apparently the players LOVE MC.

Taggart burned a ton of bridges up there

There's one thing that stands out here... that i used 'your' instead of 'you're'.... cringeworthy for the self-proclaimed grammar/spelling nazi.

anyway - since you brought up Oregon - who's replacing Taggart there, in your opinion?

I don’t want to hijack the thread but the players signed a petition for it to be the OC Cristobal. They’ve all been tweeting about him and everything.

    Back to the topic....

Does this mean your back on our side, or are you still going with the ducks?

I'm not bailing on Oregon, but Frost was the cure for my extreme apathy toward NU. The only cure.

As I've stated before. I couldn't back Pelini after the debacle at TAMU in 2010, and I was positive about Riley at first but ultimately I had no support toward him and I think that was more due to Perlman and Eichorst.

I know that there are people on here, and the most outspoken is Matty, that hates that I root for 2 teams but I just don't care. I love NU and I love Oregon.

I've got Red flowing hard right now.

  13. Leave it at 4 but dissolve the big12 and send schools each way. At this point I don't really care who ends up with who. If West Va can be a Big12 school then it doesn't matter if Kansas were to go to the ACC. You'd probably have to reshuffle some schools already in conferences to make it work realistically. Have Maryland and Rutgers go to the ACC.

    You'd have to move

    Kansas

    Kansas St

    Oklahoma

    Oklahoma St

    Texas

    Texas Tech

    Baylor

    TCU

    Iowa State

    West Virginia

I really wish that NU's schedule was this on a yearly basis

    Week1 - Group of 5

    Week2 - Colorado

    Week3 - Group of 5

    Week4 - Kansas State

    Week5 - Iowa

    Week6 - Wisconsin

    Week7 - Minnesota

    Week8 - Missouri

Week9 - Michigan or Michigan State

    Week10 - Texas

    Week11 - Northwestern

    Week12 - Oklahoma

I don't give two $#its about Ohio State or Penn State. I miss seeing that Red N line up across from those iconic Big12 helmets. Mizzou, CU, KState, Texas and Oklahoma.

Wisconsin should have beat Ohio State if they wanted to get in. Not saying Alabama deserves to be in, because I don't believe they do, but that's a different discussion than the truth that Wisconsin controlled their destiny and didn't take care of business.

Nebraska wouldn't be slighted like this (I don't think), for a few reasons:

    1. Wisconsin's crossover opponents from the East division were s#!t. We have tough crossover games for the next several years.

    2. We have a marquee OOC opponent every year. Wisconsin had Utah State, FAU, and BYU this season.

    3. If we get to the point where we go undefeated, we'll get the benefit of the doubt because of our pedigree and blue blood status. Wisconsin won't. Ever.

I'm tired of this completely subjective "eyeball test". That's what it comes down to. They have thrown out parts of objectivity each year to satisfy ratings.

RATINGS. In interest for the national championship they SHOULD have put Georgia #1 to take on Bama so that we don't ruin a national championship game with an all-sec game. God forbid they take a chance and separate Clemson/Bama round 3.

I'm so over this whole selection process.

"Its about the 4 best teams".

Auburn is CLEARLY better than Bama. So..CLEARLY its NOT about the 4 best teams.

  15. With a coach like Scott Frost. You don't have to worry about location. It's been widely covered from multiple directions and outlets on how much Frost LOVES his players and his players love him.

Recruits will eat that up. Combine it with a Power5 program that's focused on football greatness. You'll pull in recruits.
