The defense only gave up 21 points with 167 yards of rushing (326 total). They forced 5 punts, 3 sacks, 1 deflection at the line, 1 missed FG, a Fumble, and should have had an INT. They had a decent game considering our offense sucked a$$.

And if that suck a$$ offense could have sustained drives it would have been much better.

I keep hearing our backup QBs aren’t good. Well, it may be a move needed to be made just to show the fan base he isn’t willing to just go down with the sinking ship that is Martinez.

If we are going to go 4-8 this year, I’d rather go 3-9 with whatever young QB we got than a four year senior who get us 4 or 5 wins

I agree. I just have trouble believing we’d lose more games with Smothers than Martinez.

I agree but I’m just playing devil’s advocate:

women’s golf could go away from pretty much every D1 school. But these juggernaut football programs  can exist for another 100 yrs all things being (un)equal

    Right, but I wasn’t talking about golf…

The counter to SEC power moves in the name of FOOTBALL is to make an alliance that provides thought leadership on gender equality on top of the already stated thought leadership on diversity, equality, and inclusion?  I guess if I cared about women's volleyball I might give two cents about this, but I don't.

If all the SEC cares about is football and not women’s sports they will go down burning. Good luck with this thought process.

While I am certainly capable of overthinking things, I think you are under-thinking this. When a team hands out Tier One identities to 3 of it's 4 in the Defensive Backfield, just who would YOU target first (and often) if YOU were the offensive coordinator? It is an outward symbol you don't know who deserves a Blackshirt at that position.

Dude, I think they know who Cam Taylor-Britt is and would go the other way anyway…

Im retired now- but Im guessing I coached QBs for a living for at least 10 years more than you ever did :D> and attended at least 75 more QB camps and clinics as well.

But yeah- we probably know the same amount of stuff <_<  Like I said doesn't seem like many think Verduzco has much to do with our lack of QB Development. That would seem to  mean our QBs should just be on their own- coach themselves. Heck we could get that full time special teams coach we need so badly or just save the $400K the opera man gets.

Good God you are insufferable.  Ignore function activated.

  7. Are some of you surprised we don’t have proven depth behind a 4 year starter? Others that couldn’t beat him out left. Welcome to college football for the last dozen years. I’d say Smothers will be more than adequate.

@In the Deed the Glory I get it, you're frustrated with the performance of the football team. And so, like a 2-year-old when it's tantrum time, you want to lash out at something. And the sellout streak is what you've chosen to throw your tantrum at.

But the problem is, ENDING THE SELLOUT STREAK ISN'T GOING TO DO A GODDAMN THING TO IMPROVE THE PERFORMANCE OF THE FOOTBALL TEAM. The little tantrums of 'fans' like you and @Cdog923 over this are about as helpful as those of a 2-year-old.

I seriously can't believe I have to explain this s#!t...

Dude, you have some serious issues you need to resolve. I didn’t  say kill it. Reading comprehension is a skill few possess any more. I said let it die. I agree with Trev. If fans buy the tickets, that’s awesome. If we have to beg others to buy the tickets, let it die. I’m about realism, not fairy tales Peter Pan, Count Chocula.

You’re the one that threw the “little tantrum” and I’ve been sent on one week vacations during my 15 years around this place for less, but I guess that’s neither here nor there.

@In the Deed the Glory I mean, does anybody care about the Nebraska football team outside of its fan base?  By your logic, we should let that die too?

Seriously, the arguments in this thread in favor of killing the sellout streak are some of the dumbest things I've ever read on this board.

Lol. You’re right. We should keep begging people to buy tickets to prop up a made up thing that isn’t indicative of where we are as a program. THAT is dumb.
