Although this team is much better than last year we have many of the same problems: 1. Turnovers (killed us in both losses) 2. dropped balls 3. our secondary gets lit up like christmas trees 4. dumb penalties (we rarely recover from false starts) Lossing Octavian and Bradley has really hurt the LB core and makes Mckeon less effective Rushing 3 and dropping 8 into coverage seems to get burned every time. Where did Peterson and Swift come from. I like those guys (even though they both had some drops today). Murtha needs to be starting at tackle Brad Smith is the man. Pinkel's offense last year did the rest of the Big 12 a favor. The rest of the season: Oklahoma W (it will be close but we win bc/ we're at home) Kansas and K State W Colorado L

I couldn't keep away from the TV. 2 rushing touchdowns from inside the 10. Its about time. Right before we scored the 1st TD I thought that we were gonna throw 3 times on 1st and goal. Glenn is the man and I think this might become a football game.

I don't think we do cut slack on the 4th and 1 call. The last 2 years we have constantly seen passes on 3rd and short and 4th and short. Always Incomplete. Its poor play calling. Cory Glenn for a 1st down is playing to win. Hanging your defense out to dry (which I think he did last year as well) is not playing to win. Getting lit up like this at home is not OK. NU has a proud football tradition that someone on this staff doesn't get. I think I have to turn this off. It makes me too pissed!

Has anyone else noticeds that our corners are NEVER looking for the ball? It bothered me lkast week. It looks like this week will be no different. I guess its good to see Bowman since Tierre Green looked like Ricketts last week.

Slightly off topic but there is a rumor that CU fires Barnett at the end of the year and he replaces Pinkel at Mizzou. i guess Barnett is from here and CU wants him gone but doesn't want to pay out his contract if they fire him.

I live in Denver and the local media is like a puppy peeing on itself they get so excited to kick Nebraska when we're down. They were asking callers today if it was more important to beat Texas or Nebraska. You wouldn't believe how many people were calling in saying they would be OK with going 1-10 if that 1 win was against NU. Some other fool said we wouldn't win another game all year (hey, we'll beat Baylor dammit!!!!). It just shows why Colorado fan and Colorado football os such a "B" list thing. 10-3 and we fire a coach for being mediocre. 7-5 and they're bragging about being 12-north champs.

Romes TV show sucks and his radio callers are pretty annoying but his personal takes usually make me laugh. His "take" on Callahan and our weak offense is pretty valid. the fact that the defense is outscoring the offense is a big concern and I have read several posts on this board about "Callahan just not understanding the college game" If saying things like that make you a douchebag and an a$$hole then this posting board is full of them (or maybe just a bunch of homers). Our program deserves to be criticized right now. We do it all the time. When we were good he had plenty of good things to say.

Has Iowa State ever won in Lincoln or will this be another depessing first of the Callahan era?

We can't keep going 3 and out and expecting the D to stop them. Whew! Kick No Good!! I'm not sure I think our O this year is better than last.

Things I've liked: Dline (especially the pass rush), Ross runnning, Nunn, Koch, Cody Glenn, Things I haven't liked: That Pitt freshman running back, the score, our offense (both play calling and performance), 3rd down conversions, Taylor taking those sacks right before half (get rid of the ball!!!), Mussburger and his side kick (are they even watching the game?- wtf are they talking about?) If a touchdown falls in the forrest and our defense isn't there to score it, did it actually happen? or Can we win if our derfense doesn't score?

It could be said that the TD out O scored last week was really a special teams TD. Our Defense has scored more points than our Offense. Although it is fun to watch, very concerning. We have had a couple of drives that didn't look too bad though....progress.

Although the run game was excruciating to watch it does look like by sticking with it, our linemen's weight advantage is starting to wear out the WF D. I hate when we get 3 and not 6.

We certainly aren't the team we used to be (or will be again) but we are 4-1 at home, and 1-4 on the road, so actually home field has meant something. Also, So Miss broke into the top 25 for a couple of weeks so they aren't awful, in fact they are better than most of the big 12 north. Although we still should never have lost that game.

What the hell happened?!!!? I left my house today and Kstate was up 17-9 and getting ready to score. I see the score later and they got killed? What in the world happened.

I too figured that by losing to ISU (which we would've won w/ better play calling) that we had to beat them in record. Its crazy that a team as weak as us could still compete in the champ game. Its like the Big 12 North is the big 10 this year. I have an interesting question. I grew up in western neb and moved to Denver as soon as I could. I am aware of the rivalry that has developed w/ K-state and the uncalled facemask a few years back, etc. I just don't have the animosity for K-state that I do for CU. Is it possible that people in western Neb hate CU worse and eastern Neb KSU because of proximity?

Its not that hard to cheer for K-State. I do it when they play Colorado every year (and why do they always lose to the wekaer buffalos?!)

Dave H, you are still only amking ev eryone elses points. Even if the offense is there, Dailey can't hit the recievers. So do you keep calling the same plays that don't work and lose, or do you show some of the "flexibility" that Callahan talked about start making smarter play calls. Don't you think that running the ball more would help set up the pass? A 9 yard per carry avg is as good as a quick slant. I expect some lumps in transition but we don't have to lose to teams that we have no business losing to just bc/ Callahan is stubborn. Since you were there, if we run the ball more (say 60% run, 40% pass) do we lose that game?
