  4. someone asked me earlier to explain why I thought Callahan was a better coach than Frank other than the obvious that BC is in Lincoln and Frank is in Ohio so here goes 1. COACHING - no comparison BC has coached on all levels and succeeded while Frank has had some success at the college level he has not even been approached by an NFL team to my knowledge FS was becoming 1 dimensional at the end as well and can you really look yourself in the mirror and say that he would have had a better record than BC last year with Dailey still being the QB (and look at all the D1 offers he received after termination) 2. RECRUITING nuff said on that subject but we will have to see how these players pan out for BC but on paper they look to be much improved over anything FS brought in. 3. MEETING THE PRESS I use to cringe everytime FS was behind the mike on a local, regional or National stage - the guy was just plain embarrassing at least BC can communicate and not come off as a complete idiot!!! as for the rest of the staff that was let go that is a part of coaching and change - I understand that BC wanted his own staff - but I would liked to see him keep a few of them around but life goes on - I felt the worst for Barney (if you think fs was letting him have the final say on what plays were being called just check the gameplans for the games from the prior year and compare - fs was still calling the plays - he just couldn't let it go) and hopfully this is the last post on FS I know it will be 4 me
  5. it took him 5 years to convert the peso's into dollars
  6. after finding the box the man tucked it a safe place and then jumped in his car to see what he could spend it on - while doing this task he was involved in a crash and was hospitilized in a coma - after 5 years in a coma he awoke (thus he could not tell anyone or spend any of the money!!!!)
  7. Player: Jamie Nixon Hometown: New Haven, CT Position: DB/RB Height: 6’1” Weight: 179 40 time: 4.52 Visit Date: Sept. 2, 2005 (Maine) Scholarships offered: Nebraska, Maryland, Oklahoma, Florida, Connecticut, Rutgers, Virginia Favorites: Connecticut, Nebraska, Rutgers and Maryland Rankings/Stars: Rivals: #22/ Bid Red Report: Assessing the talent: Very good quickness, especially after being hampered by an injury last year. At DB, he’s got great break on the ball. As soon as the pass is in the air, he’s there. Still rough around the edges. At RB, he’s just a good high school player. His speed helps him blow by people. Odds of becoming a Cornhusker: 15% He has a visit scheduled, he may attend with teammate, Bruce Campbell OT/DT, who the Huskers are also recruiting and will be in Lincoln on Sept. 10 for the Wake Forest game. Busch is recruiting him. HI reporting he is scheduled for a visit 3 star prospect link : J Nixon
  8. teaser from HI on AJ HI A Jones
  9. new roster from Huskers.com the players in black are the walkons looks like they have added a few names that I have not heard b/4 another big body named CONAN
  10. I'm with ya SiC - kudo's to the mods for keeping a handle on all of those idiots - it must have been tough the last few days. Where did they all come from? it was like Invasion of the Body Snatchers - Thanks to all of the mods for their hard work
  11. Did the coaching change in those years that you are talking about Old Cub or the Players that took it to a different level? IMO I think that you must have a coaching staff in place that has a solid system and then they need to recruit players that fit that system. There are many elements that are required to win a MNC - coaches/ players/ luck and a system. look at the Okla/USC game last year - equal talent on both sides of the ball but i think Norm C made the difference in his game plan with the month he had to work with whereas Stoops and co. dropped the ball on breaking down the USC O & D. I guess what I'm trying to say is that i will take the coaching - they have the ability to stay at the school longer than the atheletes.
  12. thanks 4 the update NH I think he would be a major get at a position with need - looks like all idicators are pointing NU's way with this kid
  13. Welcome Aaron5 - I say bring'em on in - who would want to root for ISU anyway
  14. just a reminder Frank was fired AND THEN Bill was hired I don't think BC had a stocked cupboard as some have suggested but it wasn't bare either. But the ones that were big 12 material had a (bad) attitude toward the new coaches. Thank goodness last year is over and done so hopfully we can move foward this year and the years to come GBR ps : all of you frank lovers go to ohio u .com (thats where you can find him)
  15. which offense to run should have its own thread - so back to the original question - I think Callahan is the best coach for Nebraska - HE'S HERE and frank is not nuff said
  16. whatever happened to james poe in this thread?
  17. the metal box was a safe and it took him 5 years to get it open
  18. nameless usually i agree with most info that you bring to the board - but I do not agree on your post above. I checked most of the big 12 depth charts and could only find 1 corner that was listed at 6'3" - not saying there isnt more than that but to say that the average hgt is 6'3" I believe is inaccurate. 2nd comparing the HS team that he plays on to the sun belt is totally absurd - the players in the sun belt were recruited to play there and Hayo must play where his parents live (he has no choice) I will agree that (imo) that there might be better choices out there for WR, but is he being recruited for that position? rivals has him listed at CB and brr has him listed at WR - in either case I will leave judgement of the selection of him up to the coaches.
