  1. NU used to have a schedule such as this....back in the early 1900's. I believe that the Y, Lincoln High, and Creighton were all opponents. I agree, if you want to schedule a "puff" at least try to get someone 1A, or a decent 1AA team, not a Nicholls St. An intersquad scrimmage would be more useful. Not so fast my friend. If Maine was any indication..............
  2. USC for one. Link: http://eaglesfootball.com/college/palmer/qa2.php Call them what you want, but apparently NUs and USCs offenses are totally different then, because USC uses primarily a 2 back set, and NU primarily the I-set. Thanks for clearing that up and proving my point I never said that under Chow that USC runs a simplified version of the WCO, I said he installed a system that was much easier to install and run in college football then the WCO. But since you dont want to read the article (or believe it since it proves that you are incorrect) here it is for you, with the difference outlined (emphasis included):
  3. Whatever. When people quit making the rediculous statement that NU = USC - a few players, that everything else is the same, then I will quit with the Palmer article. Cool.
  4. So if USC isn't running a WCO, then why are they using a 2back set like Walsh did? So are you saying that ANY team running a 2 back set is automatically running a WCO-style offense??
  5. Taking over a 10-3 isnt starting from scratch. Funny, a 21st century "attack" thats rooted in the 60's. Thats funny, because prior to this post I havent even mentioned billy c, that is the rest of you, not me. I guess if you like gestapo boards that censor anything that is construed to be anything less than sunshine pumping. Maybe you should quit. Back to fundraising, like I said.
  6. No kidding, BSGuru, I mean SiC You shouldnt troll, buddy, its sad.
  7. Its called an analogy, Im sorry that you dont have the intellect to grasp it Last I heard NU is still a long way from getting all the funding they need, somewhere between 28 and 34 million dollars short (56-68%) and hasnt had a major donation since the end of 2004. I guess that "I’m going to watch and be relaxed about it until 2007, then I’ll look to see if we’re getting back to the course where we had a history of being" means you had better be checking the mailbox soon. Or did you not even read the article
  8. As I recall, Walsh used a two-back set primarily with the 49ers (Craig, Tyler, Cribbs, Rathman) and didnt use the I formation nearly as much. But, those are also seasoned professionals.
  9. Wow, Im shocked. The typical genius analysis from you.
  10. Agreed. If he just would have said, "I thought we got jobbed, I was pissed, I was emotional, it was the heat of the moment, I probably should not have done it," etc. etc. I would be with it. I would dig it. But the blatant "coverup" is what is pathetic and calls into question his character. Then the same can be said for ANY pro-style offense that both passes and runs, and tries to get some sort of balance. Hogwash, I say. Being a good coach means getting beyond these "extenuating circumstances."
  11. If I remember correctly, the Raiders played in one, if not two AFC championship games prior to finally making it to the SB (losing one by a fluke). So yes, apparently they were talented and destined to go there. I though it was all about talent. Are you saying that All-Pro's (ie elite players) dont have talent??
  12. The huge difference is, it wasnt "starting a company from scratch." A better parallel would be firing Bill Gates, breaking up Microsoft, and using their facilities and resources to manufacture watches.
  13. Possibly, but to flat out deny it shows questionable character, and a penchant for saying the untrue. If you are naive enough to believe someone who purposely tells untruths ....... Actually, Ive provided proof from a player that played in a WCO system and a much more simplified system. That player is a winner who knows the difference. I can believe him, or a coach who is of questionable character when in comes to honesty. Agreed. Ive never had the distinction of taking a Super Bowl built team loaded with All-Pro players from first to worst, and Ive never taken a program that is legendary in winning status, one that returned the majority of its starters from a 10-3 team to its first losing season in decades.
  14. It was not neccessarily a "foolish" statement on billy c's part, rather it was a blatantly untrue statement. Ive seen the "had it up to here with you" gesture, but this is the first time that I have ever seen it done by running your hand from one side of your throat to the other
  15. Thats fine, but billy c has a penchant for saying whatever makes him look good. Remember "What throat slash, I didnt make a throat slash gesture???"
  16. Thanks, I needed a good laugh. Im always here for ya
  17. Great find, good read Not sure about that, but when he played in Paul Hackett's "West Coast Offense" and in Norm Chow's (whatever it is they call it) I'm sure he has a better idea than, well, any of us. No??
  18. Nay, still believe it: http://www.talkorigins.org/faqs/flatearth.html I guess that everyone on here knows more about USCs offense then does their former qb?????
  19. Take that! Give me stale popcorn, you little s#!t!!!!
  20. <formerfan dusts off obscure 5 year old article with Carson Palmer supposedly saying USC doesn't use the WCO> Brace yourself Its true, damn true. Not only did their former QB say it and distiguish the differences, Ive watched both USC and NU, and what they do are not "carbon copies" of each other, even if billy c says its so. Link provided if needed
  21. What class Just stating my opinion. Isn't that what you constantly banter on here? You are entitled to your opinion, I never said you werent, and never demanded that you be censored. Im sure you were one of the ones booing Frost, Dailey, and Lord, too. I know you cant understand this, but making proclamations such as this about young men who play the game for free (for the love of the game) displays total classlessness. You probably boo players at Pop Warner and Little League games. Who would have thunk it?? When lack of class gets mentioned........
  22. Pederson is to busy trying to get money instead of book some decent teams. That and he doesn't want to play any one to good. Of course, that's why we're playing USC. I could be wrong, but wasnt the USC series booked by Bill Byrne?? Wrong again go figure With the big 12 the way it is you scedule one tough nonconf team the rest should be winable games. I recall it being booked before "last year" but I don't know whether it was Byrne or SP. either way, a newsflash for Benard: $Bill booked patsies long before SP was making the schedules. remember Pacific? they used to be the regarded as the purest of cupcakes, now they don't even have a football team. Byrne scheduled them a couple times in the mid-90s; but hey, SP was with the Huskers at the time so we'll just lay that one on him too. I was pretty certain that this series was booked a few years back, before USC was playing for NCs on an annual basis. Besides heresay, is there any proof of this statement? If I am wrong, you'd better mark it on your calendar.
  23. Happy belated Just wait, next year, life will be over.................. 30
